Everything's Better Down Where It's Wetter [reasonably open]

Characters: lots of them
Date: landfall (Apr 7-13)
Location: coastal waters and beaches around Atam
Situation: fish people and the people who manage to put up with themlove them
Warnings/Rating: None anticipated, but individual posters should warn in the subject line if relevant.

From the event post:
Come on in, the water's great! The fish are happy and well cared for, the water is tropical (which goes for any beach bunnies in our midst, not just the fish people!) There's also the ruins of an approximately iron-age city sunk just off the coast for anyone who can swim to explore! It's visible about four meters down. It's mostly old buildings, walkways/etc, that are covered in ocean detritus. Some things could be brought back to the surface. Maybe you'll even find old treasure? Who knows! Have fun exploring.
OOC: This is the catchall log for Ocean Shenanigans. This includes water-breathers on holiday, air-breathers with high lung capacity, scuba gear, mysterious powers, or a water-breather willing to spot 'em, and perhaps even air-breathers who've recruited water-breathing help to skip the checkpoint and sneak into Atam, which is doable if they're careful. /drevil.jpg

Your form is excellent. [He sits back to watch, fairly impressed but not surprised that she knows how to use a trident. It's a very Atlantean weapon, and that seems to hold constant as well. He's mildly surprised when the magic in it actually responds to her touch, though. She can probably feel it, a sort of swelling of power that feels very much of the ocean and ancient gods.

If she cares to figure it out, she can probably make whirlpools or some shit with it! Controlling water is fun. For the moment, though, he'll chalk it up to the trident responding to another Atlantean in a world with very few of them.]

[Well. Seems like he wasn't imagining that response from the trident. He seems slightly startled when it actually works, but then it switches to curiosity, because... Well, huh. He nudges himself off the rock he was sitting on until he's floating, ready to grab his weapon back if it gets out of control (it's happened before, when Garth still wasn't ready to wield it, and with Koryak again the same day).]

I... thought that was the rule, honestly. Only the royal family really has access to it back home. Primarily my heir and me. [Mera, too, but she doesn't need sea god magic when she's got her own powers.]

[He definitely approves of caution, even if he could probably take a few water blasts from it if he had to. Good thing DC Atlanteans are super durable.

...That does sort of explain things though. 'Neptune's chosen' back home pretty much referred to his family since ocean-dwelling heroes are hard to come by (and most of them end up related to him anyway, see Deep Blue).]
You never mentioned you were a princess. [Not that it really changes much.]

Well, yes, it doesn't mean much here, all things considered. [It's not like anyone cares that he used to be King of Atlantis, or that his wife is reigning Queen. Without the might of Atlantis behind them, it's not likely anyone will take that seriously, but still.

He just shoots her a slight smile, almost what one might consider playful.]
Still, I might have liked to know for future reference, Princess. [Is that teasing? That's teasing.]

I'll keep that in mind next time we invite you over for dinner. [Not an unlikely occurrence, actually. He and Mera rather like Nita, probably more than some of the people Arthur knows from home.]

I have to wonder just how many people the trident will respond to now, though. [It's something the rest of the League would probably like to know, just in case.]

Percy wouldn't be a surprise, I already knew about his parentage. [He's not worried about it, Percy's a good kid. They like him too.] It could be worse. I don't think I've met a waterbreather here I haven't liked.

He might as well be. I've always considered my proteges family. Garth could wield it and he's adopted, though it wasn't official for a while. [Not until after Artie's death.]
