Situation: fish people and the people who manage to put up with themlove them

Come on in, the water's great! The fish are happy and well cared for, the water is tropical (which goes for any beach bunnies in our midst, not just the fish people!) There's also the ruins of an approximately iron-age city sunk just off the coast for anyone who can swim to explore! It's visible about four meters down. It's mostly old buildings, walkways/etc, that are covered in ocean detritus. Some things could be brought back to the surface. Maybe you'll even find old treasure? Who knows! Have fun exploring.

OOC: This is the catchall log for Ocean Shenanigans. This includes water-breathers on holiday, air-breathers with high lung capacity, scuba gear, mysterious powers, or a water-breather willing to spot 'em, and perhaps even air-breathers who've recruited water-breathing help to skip the checkpoint and sneak into Atam, which is doable if they're careful. /drevil.jpg

I'm not even sure they could get needles into us. [He points out, because while he's no Man of Steel, Atlantean skin is thick and hard to pierce. And while Arthur doesn't really care what people find out about him, he knows Kal values privacy, and anyway, drawing attention to themselves isn't a great idea.]

The wall only seems to protect the city from the other end, and most of the shore seems open. [A slight smirk tugs at the corners of his mouth.] I doubt they keep much of an eye on the water. Surfacers rarely do.

[And Kal can't help but grin back at him because he knows where he's going with that. Why didn't he hang out more with Arthur? He had had more fun with him in this couple of months than what he had had back at home. The fact that there isn't Atlanteans politics to deal with probably helps.]

Are you up to breaking some laws today, your Majesty?

[Too much going on back home, probably. Arthur constantly had Atlantean and Sub Diegan politics and goings-on to deal with, on top of League issues when he was on the actual roster, and Kal... Well, he's Superman. With their work and their families, it doesn't leave much time for socializing.]

Said as if I've ever been fond of surface laws. [He follows them, but it doesn't mean he likes them - see the entire Cerdia mess.] Let's go. I'm eager to have a look around.

[And Kal does an impressive cannonball into the water because he's an adult.]

We'll need some way of communicating when we're under water, I don't need to breath but I can't really talk with water surrounding me.

['Open your mind'. Easier said than done, but Kal closes his eyes to try.]

Will I be able to hear you? I know your telepathy works differently than J'onn's...

I'm not sure about Krypton, but on Earth, everything evolved from the sea. If I tap in through that part of the brain... [The structure of Kal's mind is more unfamiliar, and it takes a bit of effort to try and forge that mental connection.]

[He grins up at Arthur, opening his eyes and trying to keep the same state of mind.] Guess that answers a question about Kryptonian evolution.

Maybe, or I'm just getting better.. [Frankly he has no idea how Kryptonians evolved, but it makes sense that most living beings evolve from the sea. Water is life for most living creatures.] This will at least suffice until we get in.

[Said in a joking tone, as much as he can get a 'tone' when they are speaking mind-to-mind. It's definitely different from the martian brand of telepathy, it feels less like their minds being a whole and more like Kal using a language he had long forgotten but at least it's really easier to focus on what he has to say instead of focusing on hiding what he doesn't want him to see.
