[When you have spent literally over half your life at a camp for training demigods how not to die in the mortal world, it's really not all that surprising that Annabeth is bad at normal nine times out of ten. There's just usually other things she'd rather be doing. Like poking at her laptop. Reading a book. Knife practice (not that she isn't already good, but it never hurts to spar, and she very much enjoys the 10:2 ratio of victory over Percy right now). Research of any or all kind, and she hasn't stopped drawing buildings even here.]

[So please ladies. Come to her suite, knock on her door, and kidnap her away for shenanigans and girl times, and don't take no for an answer!!]

Guess it depends on what the turtle has in mind for us then. Unless we all end up going home soon. [Then yes, immediate danger and challenges is more than applicable.]

[But she rolls her eyes, pushing that thought away, and pointing at a third card, towards the top.]

[And it flips over to reveal...a reversed Knight of Pentacles. Which, in this instance, takes on the form of a Trojan Horse.]

This card represents the best possible outcome for you, if you continue on the path you're on right now.

[She smirks a little when she catches a glimpse of the wooden horse. Oh, the innuendos she could make...]

Usually, it would symbolize a consistency in routine, or a conservative methods to your approach. but since our little horsey friend is upside-down...it basically means you're going to end up stuck. Trapped. Either in a rut...or, knowing this place, possibly literally.

Best possible outcome could still end up pretty awful. [...look she's cynical after thinking of Tartarus two seconds ago, okay?]

[Especially because trapped and stuck just conjures more thoughts of Tartarus, as much as it's very likely just inferring to life on the turtle.]

So, I'll be stuck somewhere, but the end results will end up the best they can? Does being here count as stuck?

Normally, I would say sure, why not?

But if that were the case, the card would've come up in a different section of the spread. So this is definitely referring to something that hasn't happened yet, but will.

[She sighs a little.] So it could be - something back home?

[backwordscompatible]

It could be, yeah.

[sophos]

Then maybe this whole tarot thing is more accurate than I'd given it credit for.

What makes you say that?

[sophos]

[There's a brief pause.] Because I know what's waiting for me at home. And it basically matches up with what you've told me.

[backwordscompatible]

[The smile immediately vanishes, all traces of humor completely gone now. She doesn't even question the validity of the statement. Whether or not it was even possible. She knew it was.]

...I'm sorry, Annabeth.

[Oh no no this was not her intention. This was just supposed to be a fun afternoon.]

[Annabeth shakes her head in reassurance] It's fine, it's not your fault or anything. It just means you're good at this.

It doesn't have to be my fault for me to still feel bad.

I know what it's like to know things about the future you wish you didn't.

It's that I don't wish I didn't know - I made the choice to go to the Emperor to find out more. It just... kind of weighs on you, you know? [Since she does get the feeling Zatanna has a similar sort of experience, she manages to admit that much.]

Yeah, I know.

I was the one who asked Eva to show me. Or, rather, I guess it was more like I took her up on her offer, already knowing what I did about the future.

[sophos]

[She pauses over that new bit of potential information.] I didn't realize she could show the future, too. I just - I asked her to show me Percy.

I'm thinking she uses the same kind of magic the Emperor does. Just at a much weaker level.

[sophos]

Eshai dumped me in a pool of water to show me my future. But maybe she just likes to be flashy.

[backwordscompatible]

[...okay, that sort of weakens her theory a little bit.]

A pool of water? Why?

[sophos]

Images of what happened - it was reflected all around me in the water. I was kind of like a third party viewer, watching it all unfold.

Okay, that is...definitely not the way Eva did it.

Hers was like a window that appeared out of the air. No water.

[sophos]

[She nods.] That's sort of what Eva did in my case, too. Though with her, it was more like - taking a peak. Being in the water was like being surrounded by everything happening.

The peek was bad enough.

[Another sigh, this one blowing up tufts of hair.] Wanting to yell at yourself is a pretty interesting experience, to say the least.

[She almost smiled. Ironically.]

More like wanting to beat yourself over the head with a large rock, repeatedly, for doing such stupid things.

That, too. [Watching her hubris unfold? Yeah, hitting herself with a rock seems about right. Better than falling off of one.]
