[When you have spent literally over half your life at a camp for training demigods how not to die in the mortal world, it's really not all that surprising that Annabeth is bad at normal nine times out of ten. There's just usually other things she'd rather be doing. Like poking at her laptop. Reading a book. Knife practice (not that she isn't already good, but it never hurts to spar, and she very much enjoys the 10:2 ratio of victory over Percy right now). Research of any or all kind, and she hasn't stopped drawing buildings even here.]

[So please ladies. Come to her suite, knock on her door, and kidnap her away for shenanigans and girl times, and don't take no for an answer!!]

I am just going to blame the gods for that. And ancient evils.

[sophos]

[She snorts, but it's not really in amusement.] We can probably blame them for a lot of things.

[fatedchaos]

It's so weird to say that and think, yeah that's totally true. I'm just saying. [Their lives, sigh.]

[sophos]

[She chuckles, this time with a little actual amusement.] I've always found normal to be more subjective anyway.

[fatedchaos]

My views of normal have been completely ripped to shreds lately. [There's a curious note to her voice, almost uncertainty.] It's weird how something that can't possibly be real is the one thing that slaps reality in your face.

[sophos]

I can barely remember this sort of thing not being normal. [Figuring out you're a demigod when you're a wee petite babby kind of ruins that forever.]

[fatedchaos]

Normal life is pretty boring. Quiet. You wake up in the morning, and you think about how you're just going to school and if you studied enough for that test later on and what you'll have for lunch. [But she's super fond of that boring routine.]

[sophos]

I dunno. [She grins a little wryly.] I could use a little boring.

[fatedchaos]

Well, then. I am here for all of your boring needs! [8Db]

[sophos]

[A short laugh.] Then please, teach me how.

[fatedchaos]

First rule: go out and do normal things. Like today and shopping. That's normal and boring. [Nod nod.] Second rule: Talk about boring things. Like the weather.

[sophos]

[She's quiet for a moment.] It's pretty warm out today. [The inflection trails up into an almost question.]

[fatedchaos]

[Vanessa glances up, putting her hand to her brow to cover her eyes.] Yeah, it's nice. Like, perfect hanging out weather.

[sophos]

[talking about weather ok that is easy.] The climate seems to be pretty temperate like this overall. Even in the winter months, it never got all that cold.

[fatedchaos]

Really? That'll be great. It doesn't really get all that cold in Los Angeles, either. I mean, sometimes it does. It depends on the winds. [Weather is so nice and easy to talk about.] It makes it great for going to the beach year round.

[sophos]

The weather at Camp Half-Blood is mostly controlled and warm year round, but New York itself definitely isn't.

[fatedchaos]

They control the weather at camp? But where's the fun in all of that?

[sophos]

They alternate it sometimes. But it makes training and stuff a lot easier when you don't have to traipse through snow to swing a sword at someone.

[fatedchaos]

See, that's not exactly normal. You can't control the weather in the real world. What if you're trapped in the snow and have no choice to fight?

[sophos]

I've done that. [In the real world in the snow.] It's not like it doesn't snow, we're just - generally prepared and not usually surprised by the weather. Scheduled snow days and all that.

[fatedchaos]

[Vanessa makes a face and shakes her head.] I'm both sort of jealous and just totally unsure of that. We don't get snow in L.A.

[sophos]

[She grins a little.] It never snowed when I lived in San Francisco either, and Virginia was pretty temperate. But I've spent most of my life in New York, so I'm pretty used to snow either way.

[fatedchaos]

That snow day we had here was pretty much the first time I have ever experienced snow. [:'D she's never even left Los Angeles before.]

[sophos]

And how'd that go for you?

[fatedchaos]

[A beat.] I shared acorns with Iorveth because he refuses to buy food in the city.
