Characters: Annabeth; Zatanna, Vanessa, Ororo, Bryn, Soranik
Date: Today/Tomorrow idek??
Location: PLACES
Situation: Teaching Annabeth how to normal girl
Warnings/Rating: T overall, talk of sex
[When you have spent literally over half your life at a camp for training demigods how not to die in the mortal world, it's really not all that surprising that Annabeth is bad at normal nine times out of ten. There's just usually other things she'd rather be doing. Like poking at her laptop. Reading a book. Knife practice (not that she isn't already good, but it never hurts to spar, and she very much enjoys the 10:2 ratio of victory over Percy right now). Research of any or all kind, and she hasn't stopped drawing buildings even here.]
[So please ladies. Come to her suite, knock on her door, and kidnap her away for shenanigans and girl times, and don't take no for an answer!!]

[ Her power battery would take out most, if not all of the turtle. But the ring is smaller - localizing the blast. Soranik doesn't know the exact details of what would occur but she knows it wouldn't be pretty. ]

You basically just need to get past first impressions, because once he gets started on something mechanical, the flirtatious bravado's shoved aside.

[ That was a thing that happened. ]

[ Soranik, you've got a massive crush on Kyle Rayner you are not one to talk about people being terrible at flirting . ]

[Annabeth's version of flirting is beating the other person up soooo.]

[ PERSISTENCE IS WEIRD. ]

How are you today?
[ That's how you approach conversation with people about normal things.... right... ]

[Oh. Right. Conversations!!] I'm okay. I've been out of the suite a surprising amount lately. You? [That was legit, right???]

( it's not so different from Korugar - where she won the hearts of her people purely by healing people. but Soranik doesn't mention that. Instead-- )
Do you miss your world? I know that circumstances may influence you one way or another, and you need not answer if you don't want to - I'm simply curious.
( mostly because Soranik misses Korugar with every moment she's here, misses Oa, misses the sprawling stars and planets of the universe, misses everything. )

[But there's a bit of a pause as she considers Soranik's question. Finally, she decides she's comfortable enough around the older woman to admit:] I missed it a lot more when I was alone here. I mean, I still do, because it's home. But having familiar faces and people [Percy] here now helps. [Though her face sort of falters a bit when she thinks about what's waiting for her back home. Because maybe this little reprieve on a giant turtle is not so bad.]

( but annabeth gets a small smile in return before she considers what annabeth's told her. )
That must be comforting, yes. ( a beat. ) Even the presence of Lanterns Gardner and Rayner cannot make me miss Korugar any less. And they have many people who are near and dear to them here. ( or people who have become such - soranik isn't obviously jealous, but there's a slight resentment in her tone. she should have been one of them to kyle. he was one of them to her and now she can't let herself become too close and be hurt by this one.
and she can't make friends very well, even here. )

[But she picks up on a lot of things in Soranik right now. The resentment, for sure, and she picks up on the implication there of other friends being a concern, of their people. Wasn't that how she felt exactly when the Argo II reached Camp Jupiter? Annabeth's always been possessive of people she comes to call friends, and the possibility of losing Percy to a bunch of Romans was almost too much. So Soranik gets another admission.] I get that.
[And worrying that you won't have the same place, or that you might lose that place - or maybe you hadn't gotten it yet at all, as Soranik seemed to be implying. The other woman's a lot older than Annabeth, and truth be told, she's not very used to the ease at which they can converse - most adults sort of look down at her, between the academic holes or even the way she looks (she has always been aware that first impressions are full of California Barbie).]
[But she likes Soranik a lot. She knows what it's like to be lonely, and she doesn't really want that for her.] Camp Half-Blood is my home. No matter what happens to help the feeling, I'll always miss it, too.

( For understanding, for being someone smart enough to talk to, and clever enough that Soranik doesn't have to constantly make sure she's caught up. It might be a selfish thing to want - especially in someone so young - but Soranik appreciates more than she can actually say. She's more than aware of her reputation as someone who's far more business than casual, prickly and hard to get along with. It doesn't bother her except when it hurts and there's no one for her to go to.
But, as she's coming to realize, she can with Annabeth. Kyle is still an unknown while Annabeth has done nothing but prove to Sora that she's trustworthy. )

[Annabeth fidgets for a moment. Clearly, this isn't the sort of thing she brings up or talks about all that often, because like Soranik, she's usually jumping into the business-side of things before anything else. But this isn't entirely that either.]
If you do need help with something, or - you know, an ally, for whatever reason. You can ask me.
[It's the adult thing coming back for a moment, again. Because most would scoff at that kind of offer from a teenager. But she knows Soranik won't.]

( Although with the implications of the others like herself, Soranik wonders if there's actually anything that Annabeth could need Sora for. Still, it's worth saying. )
