[When you have spent literally over half your life at a camp for training demigods how not to die in the mortal world, it's really not all that surprising that Annabeth is bad at normal nine times out of ten. There's just usually other things she'd rather be doing. Like poking at her laptop. Reading a book. Knife practice (not that she isn't already good, but it never hurts to spar, and she very much enjoys the 10:2 ratio of victory over Percy right now). Research of any or all kind, and she hasn't stopped drawing buildings even here.]

[So please ladies. Come to her suite, knock on her door, and kidnap her away for shenanigans and girl times, and don't take no for an answer!!]

We're leaving. [And then, for effect:] Now.

[Her tone is grave, but her next statement might not ring the same warning bells off.]

You won't need the book. And make sure you're in good walking shoes. This'll take hours at least.

[sophos]

[Annabeth's caution slips into something a little more skeptical, and she sort of tightens her grip on the book possessively.

What will take hours? [The extra time to analyze leads her to believe it's not nearly as dire as originally suspected. Especially when nothing comes barreling after either of them.]

[storm_warning]

[Ororo will pry that book out of your bookwormish hands if she must, Annabeth. This is The Call she's sharing with you. The ultimate one. There is no higher calling for young ladies, lbr.]

Shopping. Deals don't find themselves and I'm not passing up the good mood to miss out.

[sophos]

[She stares. Flatly.]

Shopping. [She repeats it, also flatly.] Shopping for what?

[storm_warning]

Clothes. [She stares. Flatly. And speaks about the same. Annabeth, you are not the only one who can do that, sry2say.] Shoes. Hats. Jackets. Boyfriends. Whatever looks good. [Excuse her, just reaching forward to try and tug Annabeth out the door with her.] We could even look at some books if the store clerk's hot, I guess. Point is, we have to leave, like, yesterday if we're going to get it done.

[sophos]

But I don't need any of those things. [Boyfriend most definitely included. She resist the tug, at least until 'books' is mentioned, and then she makes a bit of a face. This time more contemplating.] I guess there's a store I've been meaning to check out. Though inability to read the kedan languages hinders a lot of the books I've been wanting.

[storm_warning]

Yeah, right. You don't need clothes, girlfriend?

[Ororo is so calling her out on that.]

And you so didn't start talking bookworm on me. I said the clerk has to be hot.

[sophos]

I have clothes. So no, I don't really need more right now. [:T]

Attractiveness is objective.

[storm_warning]

Then lay out your objective. [A gesture of her hand as though to say "go on" without sounding nearly so classy.] Let's see if I'll be having to veto the booknooks you want to hit.

[sophos]

My boyfriend probably qualifies. [She sort of spits it out without really thinking. Thanks, ADHD. But then she sighs.] But just because he's not working in a bookstore doesn't mean you're allowed to reject it.

[storm_warning]

[Ororo arches a brow.]

Looking for a new edition to the ol' boyfriend? [That might be her just... yeah. It's kind of a smile, kind of a questioning.] Maybe something with a newer print run?

[sophos]

[She makes a face.] No. I'm good with just him. [More than good, really.] But he's not a book.

[storm_warning]

And you like him? Even with that fatal, deal-breaking flaw?

[Okay, now it's teasing.]

[sophos]

I wouldn't call it a deal-breaker, or we wouldn't have started dating in the first place. [Because she loves her books. But she loves Percy, too ok.]

[storm_warning]

Ever been teased, girlfriend?

[Seriously. See this eyebrow? It's raised at you for taking that at face value.]

[sophos]

[Annabeth stares for a second.]

[Yep. Totally went over her head. It's not like she hasn't been teased before, but it's usually a lot more obvious and only by people not afraid of getting their heads ripped off.]

[She crosses her arms a little grumpily.] Of course I have. [Not often.]

[storm_warning]

Yeah. I believe that.

[Ororo is amused by this turn of events. Annabeth is such a blank slate for the whole friendship thing that it's almost amusing in and of itself.]

You have got to get yourself some experience with the friends deal. Lucky for you, I'm around.

[sophos]

[A little defensively:] I have friends.

[Just. You know. Not so many that are actually on the turtle. And they usually grow around life threatening adventures and training. That she can do.]

[storm_warning]

Relax, girl. I'm not here to replace, just gonna help you ace. [Bookish = scholarly, right? So clearly Annabeth wants to pass the friends test.]

You can't want to sit in all the time and just read, right?

[sophos]

[She fidgets a little.] I'm an architect, too.

[Wait that's probably not entirely what she meant??] I mean, I go to the movies sometimes, I guess. There's just usually a lot of stuff going on.

[storm_warning]

That's no excuse to stop living life. [Ororo crosses her arms.] This 'stuff' is just stuff. School, work, saving the world; whatever it is, it's just stuff and none of that means you've got to give up having fun because of it.

[sophos]

[She frowns a little.] Architecture and books are fun. [For her!!] And that's what all of that stuff going on is for - trying to live life by keeping it and myself alive.

[storm_warning]

Yeah. Okay, sure. [Crossed arms are still crossed. Ororo may concede that point (but, really? reading? boring. writing's better) but she's got the original one to make still.] Point is that you've got to embrace the whole social thing too. Friends. Teasing. What good's saving the world and being alive if you don't get all up in that?

[sophos]

I told you, I have friends. It's just - [Different?? Weird?? She's not the most approachable person so friends and normal friendships are hard?????]

[She blows out a puff of air.] Most of the good things are Camp related, too.

[storm_warning]

Kind of like the X-Men? I get it.

[A shrug, a penetrating look.]
