Situation: The fires are put out and repairs around the city have begun. With life preserved, eyes turn now to what exactly crashed down into the ocean.

The majority of fires are reported as under control and repair crews start forming up to bring Keeliai back to her pre-scorched splendour. This is all well and good, but there remains a cluster of debris that crashed into the ocean drawing the attention of salvagers and Foreigners alike. Boats and teams form up and head up to scour the ocean, where the cluster rests upon an expansive and ancient coral formation and can be reached within ten metres of the surface.

[Richard laughs at his own oversight.] Of course! How could I forget? [He isn't even a little bashful about forgetting as he holds out the mask to Mark.] Then, if you would?

Sure. [Signs his name legibly on the side of the mask and hands it back.]

We should, uh, probably get back to work.

[He's pretty sure the Bats have rebreathers, but he doesn't know if the technology is widespread here. Likely not, and the kedan have no use for diving gear - they can just shift themselves some gills.]

Glad to have you on board, then. Arthur Curry. [He manages a smile and holds a hand out to shake, as is surface custom. Surprisingly, he used to be a diplomat.]

I hope you don't mind, I'm keeping whatever someone more tech-inclined might be able to get back into working order, but you're welcome to all the scrap and salable material.

[And quicker even than the transformation into fanboy, Richard changes back into the person he has been asked to be in a moment. He tucks away the mask, nods in agreement with an,] Of course, [and sets himself back to work. There is nothing like a suggestion of responsibilities to be fulfilled and people to be assisted to get Richard resuming his usual level-headed, friendly-but-somewhat-removed manner.]

Well you are annoying. [He keeps prying at the capsule, deft fingers working it over to find a weak spot to try and crack open.] I ain't good with babies. [Well, he has a baby sister, and he vaguely remembers holding her and taking care of her a bit, but she wasn't that young when their mother died, so he isn't exactly experienced.]

He sounds nuts. Hide from what?

[That earns one hand raised in mock surrender and a grin.] Never thought otherwise. You were the one who said you felt old.

[He just snorts.] Hey, you're the one who implied I should be.

Well, be glad I didn't say grandpa instead. Though seriously, that's a lot to swallow if I were in your shoes. Boots. Whatever it is you prefer wearing.

[Bat people. This place. This place.

He hesitates for a moment, before taking Arthur's hand, because -- are those gills? Strangely, that's not the oddest thing he's seen, here, but it does concern him. Aside from the gills, though, Arthur doesn't bear any of the arks of Jones's crew.]

Admiral James Norrington.

[Decided, he takes the hand, squeezing it firmly.] Thank you, that's very generous. Where do you need me?

[Those are indeed gills at the sides of his neck, pressed closed in the air to keep from drying out. His smile is a hair brighter when he hears 'Admiral', though.]

A pleasure, always good to meet someone who knows his way around the sea. [Surfacer disdain extends less to lighthouse keepers and people who know their way around boats. For the most part.]

One of the fisherkedan I know loaned me a small boat for hauling things in, you could follow me out in it and take whatever I bring up back here.

Criminey, you're tellin' me. I get one more lecture about something that isn't okay seventy years from my 'now' like I'm somebody's close-minded grandpa, someone's losin' some teeth.

[Well... gills or not, at least someone respects him.]

That shouldn't be any trouble at all. [James nods toward the water. No time like the present, after all.] Shall we get started?

Hooboy. See, I usually expect it the other way around, but humor me. What's anyone said to you about our times?

Let me know when you want to get the next round. I'll take you, it'll be quicker. [And with that he picks up a huge chunk of rock and flies off.]

Of course. [Arthur heads a little farther up the sand and comes back dragging a small boat, really not more than a rowboat, behind him toward the water. There's at least enough room in it for more than Arthur can carry up at once.] Really, I'm glad you came along, multiple trips was taking a while.

[James takes the boat from him, shouldering the oars and making for the shore line.] Shall we?

Of course, we're wasting daylight. [He says a little wryly, letting him take the boat and then heading for the water. And he's... not going to wait for the boat to hit the waves, he just wades in without a concern.] I think I should be able to bring up some bigger pieces now, there were some control panels I wanted to extract...

I'll meet you out at the site, then.

[James can easily get the dinghy there by sea. Satisfied with the boat, he sets about doing just that.]

[Arthur nods, and as soon as the water is deep enough, he dives, slicing through the water easily without needing to come up for air. Superman may be faster than a speeding bullet, but no one can match Arthur's swimming speeds.

Once he reaches the area just above the submerged wreckage, he surfaces, damp and waving an arm to indicate his position.]

[And James steers toward him, much as he would a bouy. He has a length of rope coiled in the bottom of the boat, which he hefts over the side.]

Tie off here and I can haul the rest of the way up. How far down is the wreck?

[Arthur catches the end of the rope and dives, needing to go fairly deep to tie it down before he surfaces again.]

It's fairly deep, but not unmanageable for someone else, I don't think. Too labyrinthine to really navigate without an air supply, though. I could try something if you'd like to see some of it, but I'm not as good at forming up hardwater constructs as my wife is. The Trident of Neptune isn't really made for precision magic.

Ah -- no, thank you.

[You lost him at 'air supply,' Arthur, and by "Trident of Neptune" he's entirely flummoxed. Better just to smile and nod.]

Just curious as to how difficult this would be.

[Aw you don't want a bubble helmet of air? Shame. Arthur always thinks those are hilarious-looking.]

For me, not at all. Waiting on me will probably be fairly boring though, but if you're sure you don't want a hardwater helmet...

I will wait here, and haul up whatever you attach to the rope. Tug three times for me to raise it.
