Event | Satellite | Salvage & Repairs
Characters: Any and all!
Date: May 22 - 26, 2013
Location: Keeliai, turtleside, ARSHEPHELIOS cluster remains
Situation: The fires are put out and repairs around the city have begun. With life preserved, eyes turn now to what exactly crashed down into the ocean.
Warnings/Rating: Please put CW in your subject lines
Satellite Crash Event
Crash Landing | Salvage Party | Shocking Spectres
Questions | Keeliai | Repairs | Salvage | Other | Oceanside | Shellside | ARSHEPHELIOS-side | Coralside
The majority of fires are reported as under control and repair crews start forming up to bring Keeliai back to her pre-scorched splendour. This is all well and good, but there remains a cluster of debris that crashed into the ocean drawing the attention of salvagers and Foreigners alike. Boats and teams form up and head up to scour the ocean, where the cluster rests upon an expansive and ancient coral formation and can be reached within ten metres of the surface.

SALVAGE
Needless to say, there is immediately a trade market which springs up to gather and resell the salvage, finding worth in even warped metal for its potential to be recycled into something of merit to the structural repairs. Criminal and innocent kedan alike are involved in it, some offering to help Foreigners find materials, others trying to steal it.
Here and there, black cylinders are found which bear jagged line etchings that have been shaded blue. They bear no apparent seams and each stands at a half metre tall and a third of that wide. Each etching is different and a vague pattern can be discerned by comparing ten or fifteen of them together. The kedan know not what they are and, if asked, they will likely sell their find for ten juulan -- they assume there is some value to the substance, but it does not resemble any metal they know and they do not have the time nor resources to explore it right now.]

hello stranger. c:

Finding anything good?
ohai
Depends on what you mean by "good". It's interesting. Bugger if I know what it is.

Afternoon, sir. [He nods to the capsule.] You have plans for that thing?

Captain! Good afternoon. I cannot say I have a particular plan in mind, but it intrigues me. I don't suppose you have heard any further gossip on what they might be?

At one point, he can be found sitting on the roadside listening to a strange music box with a captivated smile. At another point, he has to pull himself out of a pile of rubble that, yes, collapsed on him. Hey, it's still not as bad as the Blitz.]

He plunges into the crumbling building without hesitation, enveloped in the recklessness of personal loss. The shield hangs on its straps across the back of the costume Steph made for him months ago.] Hold on. You're all r- Dorian?
[Steve stops on an unsturdy pile of debris and slips, rattling his way down to the immortal's side as the overhanging roof groans.] What are you doing here? It's dangerous.
no subject
You're right, Steve, it is dangerous. I could be hurt—or worse, killed.
[He woke up on the sassy side of the bed this morning. He offers Steve a hand to balance him.] You all right? There's no one here, I checked, so if you're doing the hero thing, you can move on to the next building.

the krosmoz have enriched his life in several ways and gifted him with much, but rarely is he able to say that they've literally dumped a load of space technology on his house. not that he's complaining -- he's already gathered an array of particularly interesting metal and circuitry (and already considering what to build with them) when he sees out of the corner of his eye a kedan quietly approaching his little pile. yet another thief.
well, he's having none of that! qilby doesn't even bother looking 'round. with a careless wave of his hand, he opens a portal under the young kedan, dropping the poor guy-- oh, just anywhere. possibly on top of an unfortunate passer-by. that'll... teach him? ]
Re: open.
You little ingrate, you got mud on my dress! Where'd that portal come from??
[ The kedan tries to free his hand but the angel is stronger than she looks, and finally the thief casts about for his bearings this is so not worth petty theft and points in the direction where Qilby had been. Stocking releases his hand and heads in the indicated direction. ]
Hey! Hey! Whoever dropped that filthy little cretin in my path, you're in trouble!

He's currently trying to dig something out from a pile of rocky rubble, wearing his army pants and dirt-smeared white undershirt. He's sweating and a little smudged from the effort, but he's stronger than his wiry frame would indicate, and though he moves carefully, he's not having too much trouble.] C'mon, almost...

The trinkets were nice, even if some others kept snatching the ones she had her eye on and quickly scurrying away, but she managed to get a hold onto a few that might be worth something.
The musicbox she found was hers to keep though, that one she decided. The music was lovely after all.
That's when she notices him, pausing long enough to assess the situation before making her way towards him, the bag of things she collected weighing on her shoulder lightly (she didn't find much she figured would sell) as she tries to figure out how she could help.]
Need a hand there, mister?

Just what are you supposed to be, a ball? [Talking to no one in particular she accidentally pressed a button and the little black stripe that was lining the sphere protruded a small lens and a thin laser burst forth slicing easily through a nearby fire fountain and the wrecked building behind it.]
Ahh! Nonono, STOP! [Frantically scrambling her fingers around as it continued making its line of destruction, Korra panicked and finally found out how to turn it off. Giving a huge sigh of relief she held the small sphere to eye level and glared at it.] Don’t you ever do that again.
[Reaching over the edge of her cart she placed it very carefully onto the “functional” side of the techno-gadgets, doodads, and trinkets pile in her cart. Some of them had been cool, pretty, or just plain nice to look at and others had been like that one. Looking like a simple toy and turning out to be dangerous as heck.]

At present he is crouched over a particularly large and complicated piece of machinery--likely malfunctioning, given the sheer amount of sparks emitting from it--and appearing to be in the middle of deciding whether or not he should attempt to poke it with a claw. He will, however, willingly abandon it for something equally interesting, or if someone requires help shifting rubble out of the way to reach another bit of scrap.]

He understands the rather magpie-like nature of dragons, but truth be told, had rather strong reservations about bringing a foreign piece of machinery back to quarters. Besides the fact it was otherworldly and manufactured for purposes unknown, he also suspected the sparking could pose a rather large fire hazard. ]
My dear, if you would oblige me, help me lift this piece up; there seems to be something underneath.
[ something less fire hazardy, perhaps ]
