Event | Satellite | Salvage & Repairs
Characters: Any and all!
Date: May 22 - 26, 2013
Location: Keeliai, turtleside, ARSHEPHELIOS cluster remains
Situation: The fires are put out and repairs around the city have begun. With life preserved, eyes turn now to what exactly crashed down into the ocean.
Warnings/Rating: Please put CW in your subject lines
Satellite Crash Event
Crash Landing | Salvage Party | Shocking Spectres
Questions | Keeliai | Repairs | Salvage | Other | Oceanside | Shellside | ARSHEPHELIOS-side | Coralside
The majority of fires are reported as under control and repair crews start forming up to bring Keeliai back to her pre-scorched splendour. This is all well and good, but there remains a cluster of debris that crashed into the ocean drawing the attention of salvagers and Foreigners alike. Boats and teams form up and head up to scour the ocean, where the cluster rests upon an expansive and ancient coral formation and can be reached within ten metres of the surface.

Are you sure you should be putting all of those together? They might perform mutiny behind your back.
no subject
They better not. [A little kick at the stone cart just because of death laser shenanigans.] Are you out looking for stuff too? I originally was just looking to see what kind of damage was left over from yesterday, but I ended up with this. [Presenting her stone cart filled with technological things she doesn't comprehend.]
You're a foreigner too, right? I'm Korra. [No bluish skin, gills, or any other weird kedan trait (usually) means no bad attitude unlike the locals.]
no subject
Yes, though not machines. I was hoping I could find something worth trading with the kedan for some food. [She had enough for now, but if she ever wants to practice magic, she's going to need more supplement than the meager supply they've provided--- and a job.]
That's a big haul though. What are you planning on doing with them?
no subject
[Not a lot, but it was something.] But if you're low on food, I have some extra sea prune stew sitting in my freezer. It's a bit of an acquired taste and it's pretty nutritious. [There's a reason there's an abundance of sea prunes during the rationing.]
no subject
... Black cylinder things?
no subject
[Giving a quick look around for one she said casually:]Oh yeah, you see them here and there. There’s no way to open them that I’ve found without probably breaking it, so I just sold them. [Granted the kedan were selling them for ten juulan each whereas Korra only got four for each for hers.] Besides, they take up a lot more space so why even bother.
[Finally she pointed to one of the black cylinders that was sticking out of the roof of a building. The part that was visible was about three feet in length.] Those things would fetch you a little extra cash if you need some.
no subject
She looks up when she mentions the black cylinder though, raising an eyebrow. She things she might have seen those, never really thought much of them. Still, if what she says is true then it can't hurt to grab it later.] Are they heavy? Because if they are I'll have to sell it immediately if I get my hands on it.
no subject
Hmm. [Waving her hand from side to side in a so-so manner is all Korra can think of.] I guess they could be heavy, depends on who's carrying them. I would guess around eight pounds maybe? Give or take a couple of ounces. Looks like it's just metal, so if they want to buy it I say let them.
[Because saving up for a mini radio music player thingy is a lot more important than odd metal thingies.]
no subject
Eight pounds is a lot. [Not that she can't lift it, just means she can't bring too many of it.] I'd say that needs to be sold asap then. You sure you don't want it?
no subject
[Shaking her head once Korra gives a friendly smile.] Nope, I’m good. I’ve got food at home and I still have this stuff to look through later. I could get it down for you if you want?
[Leaving someone to climb to the top of a building just so they could try to dislodge it and then have to climb back down while carrying it seemed a bit too harsh to Korra.]
no subject
Hmm, no it's okay. I don't want to have you running up to get it for me, unless you had another plan in mind?
no subject
Oh no, it’s no sweat. [Stamping her foot caused the section of roof holding the canister to spew it forth and it clanked onto the sidewalk. Turning wrist inward forcing her hand in on itself that bit of sidewalk rose, separating from the rest, and sped toward them until it was at their feet.]
no subject
You just moved rocks without an incantation, just some really simple moves. How is that not interesting? [In fact, she even tries to copy said moves (rather badly, since it's not like she's trained for this)--- but ultimately, and predictably, nothing happens.] See. I don't even know what I'm supposed to be doing with that.
no subject
[Korra folds her arms and observes Traci mimic the motions.] I’ve been training in all the elements since I was four, so don’t beat yourself up over it. You have to be an earthbender first, and it takes focus.
[However, she is cheered up a bit.] What’s your world like? Is it the Earth with a lot of superheroes or is it like the one with demi-gods?
no subject
Well, that makes me feel better. Is it something you're just born with? Being an earthbender. [Like being a homo magi, she figures, unless it's actually a skill taught to people.]
The former, actually. Though gods aren't too far off.
no subject
Yes, but not everyone is born with it. Also the nation you get born in determines what type of bending some might have. Only earthbenders are from the Earth Kingdom, firebenders from the Fire Nation, airbenders from the Air Nomads, and waterbenders from the Water Tribe. [Pointing her thumb at herself Korra happily declared.] I’m from the Southern Water Tribe.
[Great, now the “superhero” and “god” worlds she liked to refer to were intermingling. Why can’t anyone be from a normal world like hers? Where it’s just simply bending, no weird random crazy powers going about.] So you probably already know some of the flying people around here.
[Because all superheroes fly, right?]
no subject
... That was surprisingly straightforward, if not a little uncreative. Still, easier to remember.] So you can't decide to be a fire bender if you're from the Earth Kingdom? Can you learn it even when you're not born with it?
[Uh.] Probably. I haven't met them all, haven't really been interested to.
no subject
Nope. The nation you’re born in is the only element a bender can work with. Only the Avatar can master the other elements. That would be me. [Korra had to admit, most people would have dozed off by now.]
I haven’t either. In fact I’ve only met two in person I think. [Both yesterday, Spider-Man and Dr. Soranik Natu. Which brought up the memory of working with Amon and caused Korra to have a random shudder-spasm of disgust.]
But we’re all on this turtle together I guess, so it doesn’t hurt to meet everyone. So is your magic a kind of super power or did you have to learn it?
no subject
Avatar? [She finds it too interesting to get bored, really.] Okay, I'll bite. How are you able to do all that?
Magic's been with me since I remember. It's part of who I am.
no subject
All right. Just remember, you asked. [She's got this explanation thing down due to repeatedly hearing it since age four.] The Avatar is the spirit of the planet itself in human incarnation that keeps balance between the four nations of the world. Whenever the Avatar dies, that spirit is born in the next nation of the cycle of Earth, Fire, Air, and Water. Another duty for the Avatar aside from mastering all four elements is being the connection from our world to the Spirit World. Like an ambassador of sorts. So yeah, it’s kind of a lot for most people to take in all at once. [And of course stress comes with the roll.]
That’s exactly what bending’s like! Or at least for me. Most benders don’t really start bending their element until they start their teenage years. [No bragging in her tone or face, just more information about her world.] Usually they find a master to train under until they’re masters themselves.
What makes your magic different? [Because as far as Korra had seen it, magic was just that. Some kind of weird words and BAM, crazy stuff happens.]
no subject
Sounds like you're world's a lot more open to radical ideas. A lot of people I know just hate the idea of magic ever existing. [Take for example, her lovely father who she adores but disagrees with everything magic-related.]
It's mine, that's what. Everyone has a signature, it's all a matter of how you use the magic that's different. I draw mine from the city.
no subject
[History lessons, never did Korra think they'd come in this handy.]
So magic is like martial arts, everyone has a unique twist on their style? [Hoooold everything.] You get magic from a city??
no subject
For the basic gist of it, yes. [Whoops. Well, it wasn't a secret.] Pretty much. Once you step foot in a city I'm in, I can easily locate you no matter where you hide. You can say I become one with it. It's a lot more complicated than that.
[So the place getting trashed and people panicking? That had a nasty whiplash she had to ignore to help out.]
no subject
[Have a pair of big eyes that are trying to get a brain to digest that.] Like you can hear and see everything in Keeliai?? [Uncomfortable thoughts are creeping into Korra's imagination.]
no subject
[That? Earns a chuckle, and a teasing look.] Don't worry, I can't see you naked in the bath if that's what you're worried about. I can just pinpoint locations, like a GPS--- or a compass, if that wasn't familiar to you.
