Event | Yard Sale!
Characters: Come one, come all!
Date: July 21st - July 27th
Location: The City of Keeliai
Situation: The rationing is officially lifted and the kedan are celebrating by conducting one citywide yard sale! Think big! Think small! Think tribbles! Think all!
Warnings/Rating: Tribbles. Lots of tribbles. Please indicate content warnings in subject headers as applicable.
The morning of the 21st kicks off with heralds roving about the city of Keeliai to declare that the rationing edict has been lifted and that citizens no longer have to contribute one-fifth of their productions (juulan or physical goods) to the communal stores maintained by the police force. These announcements trigger a state of celebration across the city as kedan drag months worth of hoarded items to the street to sell, steal, or trade in a wave of mercantile goodness that stretches for nearly a week. Not even the rising tide of tribbles seems to dampen their spirit, with kedan citywide finding new and inventive uses for the fuzzy paperweights.
Characters are free to do as they will during this event, with police oversight relaxed in the aftermath of the long rationing and strained relations. Impromptu sales out of suites will rarely be inspected and purchase made elsewhere are no longer monitored. Everyone is taking a breath of fresh air, so to speak, and most do not want their first fun in months to be ruined.
OOC: See the OOC announcement for details and this post for subheaders in which you maywreak havoc celebrate the lifting of the rationing. Feel free to start your own thread header if you like! <3

METAL SECTOR
Tribbles are oddly under control throughout a good portion of this sectior, largely in part due to the availablitily of technology and the fearless application of it that many kedan have employed. Dozens of air-cooled pens are scattered about the sector and serve as petting zoos for the younger populations to enjoy. Meanwhile, a half dozen truly inspired kedan have been rolling tribbles up -- quite literally, in some cases -- and placing them into spherical containers. Their goal is to generate electricity from them, though via static or the rotating motion of a hamster wheel remains to be seen.]
Pepper Potts
She pauses to take in their ingenuity in handling the tribble problem. She had a small team working on it in the labs, but these ideas were wonderful. She carefully takes down a few sketches and the names of those who had invented them (offering jobs when she can) and files it away to be brought back out once the festivities are over.]

Makes you wonder what would happen if they grew larger.
no subject
[She glances over at the - ok, seriously? The grey faced girl with short purple hair? Really, after Bruce turning into the Hulk and Jack Frost being her friend and all the other millions of weird things that she's had to deal with in her life, THAT makes her do a double take. She purses her lips a moment, doing a quick digestion of these facts before continuing.]
Have you seen them bigger?

[She's taking a bit of a shine to the one they're looking at.]
Determining that would require extensive testing that we don't have.

[ Raven nods at the sketchbook that Pepper has. ]
You're going to build something from that?

open | a mechanic's!
The owner's inside with the customers, though. Jaime Reyes, sitting in the shade of the shop's roof, is polishing some of the goods with a rag. He's also
people-watchinggreeting folks as they pass by. He'd rather be out shopping himself, but hey-- gotta actually make money first, right?]no subject

Hey! You looking at anything in particular? I'm kinda new to kedan tech myself, but I'll help out however I can.

[ The reply is as practiced as anyone used to shooing off over-enthusiastic salespeople, but she notices both from his words and his appearance that he's not a kedan and thus doesn't turn a glare on him for asking. ]
Have you got anything communications related?
Open
The devices Bruce had come up with did their work so he could be near the tribbles and not act like he was on drugs. He can be seen next to the spherical containers, admiring the idea. The bust on the electricity supplies in such a clean way was welcomed, and Clark couldn't help but think it would come very handy for the radio.]

Hi.
Do those things actually work?
no subject
He turns to grin at her, amused.] They seem to, they keep using them. Interesting, isn't it?
no subject
[She leans over further, squinting at one of them.]
How long until there's one in every home, you think?
[Although the idea of one of these in his home is too terrifying to really contemplate.]
no subject
Over my dead body. [And then a little more hushed:] I've played dress up with them enough for at least three eternities.
no subject
I've been carrying this around with me ever since.

Open!
But right now, she's mostly just irritated at the way the local cops are hassling people for putting their wares into the street. She doesn't think they should be blocking roads, but she also doesn't think ticketing them for littering is right either.
And besides, she wants to flex her charmspeaking muscles, so to speak. She smiles at one such officer, placing a thread of power in her voice as she stands up for one of the kedan currently arguing over her ticket.] This isn't littering. She won't be dumping her items here for good; it's just for the moment.
[The officer hesitates only briefly before smiling back and nodding. The ticket is basically forgotten.]
no subject
[No, really. It was a thing of hers. She could never figure out exactly what it was, or how she was able to sense the thing she did. Nor was it entirely accurate. Then again, the smiling cop who suddenly politely walked away from the slightly older girl was a pretty big clue. Magic? That would be her first guess.]
You need to teach me your secret.
Last time I got caught by the kedan police, they basically grounded me.
no subject
It's not really a secret. Sometimes, you just have to make the right amount of sense. [And maybe have charmspeaking, yes.]
no subject
[Better stick with the joking to start.]
Guess I was never very good at doing that. Oh, well.
So, what'd they try to bring you in for?
no subject
[Piper shakes her head a bit.] Not me, really. One of the vendors around here. Her wrenches spilled into the street, and like I pointed out, it's unfair to ticket someone for something that wasn't exactly litter.

Arthur's fine luxury items (wiiiiide open + bonus Ariadne per Laura's permission!)
Now, though, the rationing is over, which means prices will be dropping as these items come back into the market in larger quantities, so what's a racketeer to do except try to off-load most of his stock at once? Hence, the lower floor of his suite has been opened up into a makeshift store of sorts.
He invited Ariadne over to help him out, so she might be found around as well, sketching things.
Also, watch out for Milo the tribble. He is not for sale.]

He wanders through metal sectors, stopping to looking at just about everything. He picks up parts and pieces and turns them around trying to figure out just what they are and how they work. He might turn and ask the person next to him if they look like they understand better than he does. And he stops by one of the cooling pens to pick up a tribble and pet it. At least no one is going around killing them here like they do everywhere else.]
