Event | Yard Sale!
Characters: Come one, come all!
Date: July 21st - July 27th
Location: The City of Keeliai
Situation: The rationing is officially lifted and the kedan are celebrating by conducting one citywide yard sale! Think big! Think small! Think tribbles! Think all!
Warnings/Rating: Tribbles. Lots of tribbles. Please indicate content warnings in subject headers as applicable.
The morning of the 21st kicks off with heralds roving about the city of Keeliai to declare that the rationing edict has been lifted and that citizens no longer have to contribute one-fifth of their productions (juulan or physical goods) to the communal stores maintained by the police force. These announcements trigger a state of celebration across the city as kedan drag months worth of hoarded items to the street to sell, steal, or trade in a wave of mercantile goodness that stretches for nearly a week. Not even the rising tide of tribbles seems to dampen their spirit, with kedan citywide finding new and inventive uses for the fuzzy paperweights.
Characters are free to do as they will during this event, with police oversight relaxed in the aftermath of the long rationing and strained relations. Impromptu sales out of suites will rarely be inspected and purchase made elsewhere are no longer monitored. Everyone is taking a breath of fresh air, so to speak, and most do not want their first fun in months to be ruined.
OOC: See the OOC announcement for details and this post for subheaders in which you maywreak havoc celebrate the lifting of the rationing. Feel free to start your own thread header if you like! <3

WOOD SECTOR
Speaking of... Tribble pie is the newest luxury in the Wood Sector, made with smoked tribble meat and succulent vegetables harvested and hoarded with care. Smoked tribble, in general, has taken the sector by storm and a variety of restaurants are offering it in dozens of different forms and flavours. Pelts can be seen stretched over small frames and many kedan share plans to make slippers and sleek gloves from the pelts once they are cured.]

Well, that's fun, isn't it?
[It's more to himself than anyone else, but he grins as he looks around at all the activity around him. Looks like he'll get his adventure after all.]

When she hears the low toned comment from The Doctor she can't help turning to look. She knows that he's talking to himself. There's no one around that he would clearly be talking to, but that doesn't mean that she can't answer.]
Is this your first time in the markets?
[It's not accusatory, just slightly curious in her soft toned sort of way. Pepper is dressed down today and looks far less fierce then normal. She's in a pair of simple pants and a dress shirt. Her hair is down over her shoulders.]

OTA!!
The songs lifted the spirits and he had casually ghosted his mind along the kedan, just taking a quick peek and confirming that the outward expression of exultation was genuine. It was good to see, especially after the past weeks of fear and distrust.
Eventually, cane in hand to lean upon, Charles' travels had taken him from Water towards Wood. He'd picked up comments (both spoken and mental) of books to be found in this sector and he was definitely curious.
Not long after passing through the first couple of stalls, Charles wished he'd have a knapsack or some similar bag to store books in. He began to pick up book, after book, poetry and history mostly, eventually he had to set his purchases down with a friendly stall owner while he went to find and purchase a bag.
The saying, beggars can't be choosers? Well, that is how Charles came to be sporting a hand knitted bag done in bright pink, orange and more pink yarns. It most certainly stood out and he was quite easy to spot but it was also quite serviceable as he continued to fill it with books and journals.]

[correction, JAIME REYES: human optical capabilities insufficient; object could not be seen outside of the range of EARTH's atmosphere]
...Man, Scarab, you really need to work on learning your figures of speech.
Idle thoughts about the fashion choices of passersby aside, Jaime's poking around the shops looking for books. Now that the kedan are far more welcoming to the foreigners, he's hoping to score something a bit more substantial than the cheesy book of poetry he'd bought his first day here. And, er, maybe someone kind enough to help him actually read it, but that's another story. Jaime casts another glance at that ridiculous bag over his shoulder before turning back to the shelf of books he's perusing. It's rude to stare, after all, and he's got more important stuff to do than people watch.]

found you!
But his brother was living in the Wood sector, while Billy was in Fire, so he wanted to see where he was living. Or, at least see what the sector was like. But in the Wood sector, they were selling books. And books. And more books.
Billy didn't think he'd find comic books around here, but he could use something to read/look at. And he wanted to get a journal as well, something for him to write in. But maybe he needed a bag eventually.]
That's a really interesting bag. [Billy commented when he was standing next to the other man, giving him a grin. Maybe not that bag.]
Iz found! And is happy for this eeeeeee!!!!
:D
I apologize for the late! If you do not wish to continue I totally understand!!
Of course I do! <333 No worries, I'm late too.

Hey, Professor, do you need a hand?
[She's come prepared, and has slung over one shoulder an enormous canvas tote bag with bits of brightly-colored fabric sticking out the top, plus a purse on the other side, into which she's in the process of stuffing a book even as she approaches him. Shopping is something she's very good at.]

Jaime, back from helping out at the mechanic's, comes across Asbel-- or, rather, goes around Asbel so as not to cause a minor flower avalanche-- and tries to peer around the mass of blooms in his arms.]

This time, he is also accompanied by a . . . well, some kind of pack beast, with a swan-like neck, lizard frills behind its head, and toes from which it hisses whenever someone gets too close. It snatches up stray tribbles to eat whenever Richard isn't looking its way, and it gives the stink-eye to anyone who starts talking to Richard. Given the wares on its back, it is clear why Richard brought the beast (Uzmek) along.]

At one particular vendor he stops to look over their art supplies--he wasn't the biggest artist but he did enjoy doodling far more than he should, and he found that he was missing that small sense of normalcy. He spends an awful lot of time going over each of the different supplies, partially out of boredom, partially because he's never actually bought real art supplies before. All the while the satchel across his chest bounces around as the tribbles stuffed inside get restless.]

Hayley Stark (OPEN)
Like any good teenager, she gladly accepted the retail position because it allows her a large portion of the profits and takes very little commitment. With all the various varieties of tribble product they have available to sell - mostly dead varieties - it's hardly work to be rid of them. The kedan seem to love these things and, despite the many other stalls doing the same, there seems to be something about the foreigner appeal, even if it comes with a few insults here and there.]

He will however stay clear of the tribble delicacies. Sudden invasions of little furry critters is not a good thing in his experience (we still remember the last plague outbreak, thank you very much) and although they seem perfectly harmless, they unnerve him. Eating them would just be pushing it. ]

Clara is walking down the center of the street with her arms filled with books; a stack that goes higher than her head. So she's trying to dodge everyone on the street, not drop her pile, and not walk into anything. It's getting a little complicated.
