Situation: The rationing is officially lifted and the kedan are celebrating by conducting one citywide yard sale! Think big! Think small! Think tribbles! Think all!

The morning of the 21st kicks off with heralds roving about the city of Keeliai to declare that the rationing edict has been lifted and that citizens no longer have to contribute one-fifth of their productions (juulan or physical goods) to the communal stores maintained by the police force. These announcements trigger a state of celebration across the city as kedan drag months worth of hoarded items to the street to sell, steal, or trade in a wave of mercantile goodness that stretches for nearly a week. Not even the rising tide of tribbles seems to dampen their spirit, with kedan citywide finding new and inventive uses for the fuzzy paperweights.

Characters are free to do as they will during this event, with police oversight relaxed in the aftermath of the long rationing and strained relations. Impromptu sales out of suites will rarely be inspected and purchase made elsewhere are no longer monitored. Everyone is taking a breath of fresh air, so to speak, and most do not want their first fun in months to be ruined.

[yeah, so guess who is going to take advantage of this distinct risk and try to trip Dorian up?]

[Mission accomplished, you dick. Dorian falls in a pile of books with a loud] Ow! [and stares up at the ground to see Tobias Matthews.

He scowls.]

Christ, Toby, could you be any more of an ass?

[monstrous]

[Toby stands over Dorian, smug and superior as he smiles down at the display on the ground] Is that a challenge? [because that's what he's going to take it as now, because the more he thinks about it the more he could really step it up.]

[The response is immediate.] No! [He pulls himself to his feet and dusts himself off. He needs to go rescue those books but he's being a wet cat.] No, it isn't.

[monstrous]

I'm not so sure. [Toby scoops up one of Dorian's books and tosses it to him, hopefully Dorian is paying enough attention to catch it. If not, whoops] Besides that, you would've tripped yourself up without my help, either way, the rate you were going. How the hell were you intending to get those back to your suite?

[depicted]

[Dorian does at least catch that.] Thought I'd charm a friend or stranger into helping me with them. [He doesn't look even a little ashamed of that.] And as you doubtless don't intend on helping, that will just have to stay the plan.

[monstrous]

You're a regular Blanche DuBoise, aren't you? Well, don't let me get in your way. [and Toby will just linger here, entertained enough at the prospect of watching Dorian con some poor soul into helping him]

Not even close. [Jerk!

But with that accomplished, Dorian does indeed manage to charm a kedan into helping him. Easily. Because he's Dorian Gray and his number one talent is charming people into getting him what he wants.]

Yeah, you're right. She could fake purity much better than you.

[Toby just rolls his eyes, but follows along, hands stuffed in his pockets]

So is that your Friday night right there? And Saturday? And whatever else?

[Dorian half-shrugs] I like having books. [Let's be real, he likes the smell of them.]

[monstrous]

Any closer to knowing how to read the ones that are in whatever language it is they speak here?

Not as much as I'd like. It's really nothing like any language I've seen before.

[monstrous]

Yeah, but you've been at it for what, months? Maybe you're not as clever as you think, or perhaps all that banking has rotted your brains.

Let it go, Toby. I like numbers. They're beautiful, and I'm not surprised you can appreciate that.

[monstrous]

...and what the hell is that supposed to mean? [he sounds as if he's somewhere between offended and amused]

[significant look at dodo there] Yeah, they must be.

It's all right, Toby. [Dorian says it all faux sympathy.] Your condition makes it difficult. I understand.

Does it now? [Dorian is an ass :|] Well, I guess that would go a long way in explaining some of the poorer choices I've made the last few years.

You mean the Marty McFly thing.

[monstrous]

[defensively, finger pointing and all] That was a fantastic costume.

Mhm. [He nods. He totally agrees.] Anyway, are you shopping around for anything?
