Situation: The rationing is officially lifted and the kedan are celebrating by conducting one citywide yard sale! Think big! Think small! Think tribbles! Think all!

The morning of the 21st kicks off with heralds roving about the city of Keeliai to declare that the rationing edict has been lifted and that citizens no longer have to contribute one-fifth of their productions (juulan or physical goods) to the communal stores maintained by the police force. These announcements trigger a state of celebration across the city as kedan drag months worth of hoarded items to the street to sell, steal, or trade in a wave of mercantile goodness that stretches for nearly a week. Not even the rising tide of tribbles seems to dampen their spirit, with kedan citywide finding new and inventive uses for the fuzzy paperweights.

Characters are free to do as they will during this event, with police oversight relaxed in the aftermath of the long rationing and strained relations. Impromptu sales out of suites will rarely be inspected and purchase made elsewhere are no longer monitored. Everyone is taking a breath of fresh air, so to speak, and most do not want their first fun in months to be ruined.

[Yeah, so she might have gotten a little carried away with the return of her powers, especially if she's letting herself get caught like that. There's a slight blush on her face when she turns toward the other girl, smiling awkwardly.]

It's not really a secret. Sometimes, you just have to make the right amount of sense. [And maybe have charmspeaking, yes.]

[Zatanna still didn't know exactly what she had done. Only that she figured magic had somehow been involved. If she knew the nature of her powers...well...that sort of thing was a bit of a sensitive topic these days.]

[Better stick with the joking to start.]

Guess I was never very good at doing that. Oh, well.

So, what'd they try to bring you in for?

[charmspeaks]

[Her nose wrinkles a bit.] Hey, persuasion and sense are just things that you have to work at, the same as anything else.

[Piper shakes her head a bit.] Not me, really. One of the vendors around here. Her wrenches spilled into the street, and like I pointed out, it's unfair to ticket someone for something that wasn't exactly litter.

[She'd like to be surprised. But, really, she wasn't surprised. At all.]

Nice to know some of the locals are as big of jerks to us as ever.

And here I thought the ration lifting would actually mean something.

[charmspeaks]

[Piper cracks a small grin.] Sometimes people are more stubborn than you realize. They're probably not ready to let all of their anger go. So they're taking it out on who they want.

[She'll just keep an eye out on those particular kedan and make sure they have a little change of mind, even if it's for a short bit of time.]

You don't have to tell me about stubborn people.

[She grins back, having a habit of surrounding herself with them.]

[Her eyebrows raise up.] Let me guess, you're completely surrounded by that type.

Got it in one.

And, I have to say, they are all terrible influences on such young, impressionable minds such as myself.

[Translation: she was every bit as stubborn as they were, and probably an even worse influence.]

[charmspeaks]

[A grin.]

I know the type. I think I might actually be one of them. [She shrugs.] And I am a terrible influence on my boyfriend.

Who's your boyfriend? Is he here with you?

[charmspeaks]

Do you know who Jason Grace is? [Because if you don't, you should. Jason's great. Which is pretty much the way her tone sounds right about now.] And yeah, he got here a few months before I did.

Name rings a bell, but I'm not sure I've ever had the pleasure.

[Sorry, Piper. This version of her isn't quite as into blondes...]

Yeah, that tends to happen. A...friend ["It's complicated"] of mine's been here even longer than I have, even though we somehow remember the exact same moment from our world.

[charmspeaks]

[Well, good. :| Jason's hers. Oops.] He's not really big into socializing sometimes.

[Both true and untrue. His Roman nature makes him less out there than the others Greeks. It's the same with Frank and Hazel, too.]

Yeah, that's the same with almost every single one of my friends. [Piper makes a face.] At this point, I'm just going with it rather than trying to figure out how that works.

[Calm down, Piper. She's got a boy of her own. Sort of.]

It's magic.

[Obviously.]

[Although...the way she says it...it's not a joke or a metaphor or anything like that. More like a simple, matter-of-fact statement.]

[charmspeaks]

[She's calm. Super calm.]

One day, people aren't really going to buy the whole magic explanation. Sometimes, I really don't. [Sigh.]

[You think you're sighing?]

I'm hurt. You're telling me you don't believe in magic?

[charmspeaks]

Oh, no. I completely believe in it. But that doesn't mean that there are things that I can't believe are possible. [Even as a demigod, things are mindblowing.]

Except, this time, it is. We're sort of proof of that.

We know the Emperor can do magic. Time magic, even. I haven't seen her powers for myself, but I know other people who have. And I have seen time magic before, so I can vouch for it existing here, at least.
