Situation: The rationing is officially lifted and the kedan are celebrating by conducting one citywide yard sale! Think big! Think small! Think tribbles! Think all!

The morning of the 21st kicks off with heralds roving about the city of Keeliai to declare that the rationing edict has been lifted and that citizens no longer have to contribute one-fifth of their productions (juulan or physical goods) to the communal stores maintained by the police force. These announcements trigger a state of celebration across the city as kedan drag months worth of hoarded items to the street to sell, steal, or trade in a wave of mercantile goodness that stretches for nearly a week. Not even the rising tide of tribbles seems to dampen their spirit, with kedan citywide finding new and inventive uses for the fuzzy paperweights.

Characters are free to do as they will during this event, with police oversight relaxed in the aftermath of the long rationing and strained relations. Impromptu sales out of suites will rarely be inspected and purchase made elsewhere are no longer monitored. Everyone is taking a breath of fresh air, so to speak, and most do not want their first fun in months to be ruined.

[Ah, an aristocrat. Something of the manner of dress reminds him of his old Master. So he grins, and keeps up the conversation.]

To be honest? [A little sheepish, actually.] I had a small collection where I came from, but I'm not certain I'd be able to find the same sort here.

[Henry finds the sheepishness appealing, as he often does when presented with apparent vulnerability.]

Indeed? Where and when is it that you are from?

Earth, roughly the early 1990s. [He considers the situation for a moment, and then speaks up again.] I'm not certain how common that is. Most of the wines were of the red variety, if that helps better.

[epigrammatical]

Ah, a century hence from my own time. But I do not think viniculture changes so very much. [He gestures for the other man to join him at a stall with several dusty bottles on display.] You will find that the wines of this place are rather stronger than those to which we are accustomed, but are similar enough in taste.

No, I suppose not. Tradition often works that way, from what I've found. [He does indeed join him, and starts taking careful stock of the bottles.] And the scarcity? Is it roughly similar, as well?

[epigrammatical]

Supplies of late have been quite restricted; now that matters have relaxed, perhaps we shall see more variety. [He exchanges a few words with the kedan at the stall and picks up a bottle, showing it to Kirei.] This one, I find, is quite reminiscent of a Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Sounds like yet another thing to be grateful for. [He inspects the bottle. He's still not had much wine, as in drinking it, but he knows the name, at least.] At what age?

[He considers.] Relatively young, I should say; this, like the more familiar vintage, no doubt will improve in time.

In other words, I should save it for a rainy day? [snrk.]

It would not suffer for a little time, to be sure. Now this— [he indicates another bottle] —is, I believe, a thing to be enjoyed sooner rather than later.

Hm? [He looks over.] What does this one resemble, then?

A Bergerac, I should say. One of the lighter and more evanescent pleasures to be had from the vine.
