Event | Yard Sale!
Characters: Come one, come all!
Date: July 21st - July 27th
Location: The City of Keeliai
Situation: The rationing is officially lifted and the kedan are celebrating by conducting one citywide yard sale! Think big! Think small! Think tribbles! Think all!
Warnings/Rating: Tribbles. Lots of tribbles. Please indicate content warnings in subject headers as applicable.
The morning of the 21st kicks off with heralds roving about the city of Keeliai to declare that the rationing edict has been lifted and that citizens no longer have to contribute one-fifth of their productions (juulan or physical goods) to the communal stores maintained by the police force. These announcements trigger a state of celebration across the city as kedan drag months worth of hoarded items to the street to sell, steal, or trade in a wave of mercantile goodness that stretches for nearly a week. Not even the rising tide of tribbles seems to dampen their spirit, with kedan citywide finding new and inventive uses for the fuzzy paperweights.
Characters are free to do as they will during this event, with police oversight relaxed in the aftermath of the long rationing and strained relations. Impromptu sales out of suites will rarely be inspected and purchase made elsewhere are no longer monitored. Everyone is taking a breath of fresh air, so to speak, and most do not want their first fun in months to be ruined.
OOC: See the OOC announcement for details and this post for subheaders in which you maywreak havoc celebrate the lifting of the rationing. Feel free to start your own thread header if you like! <3

[There's a tiny pause as he actually thinks about what the theme in that sector is, and then he's got a matching grimace.] Or we could come out looking like walking bonfires.
no subject
...and yes, he's going to keep that grimace on when the Fire Sector is brought up, and Rory proceeds to make a useless hand gesture thing.] Uh--we could try... the Water sector? Maybe?
no subject
[There's a stretch of silence as Scott ponders what Water Sector clothes might look like. He's pretty sure they don't actually look the way he's imagining them to in his head, but either way they look a whole hell of a lot better than theoretical Fire Sector clothes.]
Yeah. Yeah, let's do it. Which way to the Water Sector?
no subject
[A pause as Rory racks his brains to figure out which way is where, which takes a bit because he's not used to this place but manages eventually. He glances at their surroundings for a moment before gesturing to somewhere vaguely left.]
This way, I think.
no subject
[And they're off! ........Except not, because Scott manages three steps before remembering the ugly piece of cloth in the form of a shirt slung over his arm and stops.
Looks down at it.
Stares.
And then looks back up at Rory.]
Do I even want to bother getting this?
no subject
Um. [Hm.] If you don't want to, nobody's stopping you.
no subject
Might as well save up in case there's actually something wearable in the Water Sector. [A shrug.] If nothing else, it probably won't kill me to do laundry today.
no subject
That sounds like a much better idea compared to what we have now.
[Then again, at this point almost anything is better. Almost.]
no subject
Alright. Onward ho, for real this time.
[And it's off they go, walking in somewhat companionable silence for about three seconds before Scott decides to break it with more stupid questions.]
So you new around here too, or you just have really bad luck with shopping?
no subject
Rory quirks a small smile at 'onward ho', looking vaguely amused as he trails alongside Scott. He can't help but like the other even though they've just met - he's nice, and they seem to get along, so that's always a good thing.
He turns his gaze over to Scott at the question, blinking for a moment before he answers.]
Well--I like to think its more of the former than the latter, but I'm not the best shopper.
no subject
You and me both. On both counts. [Tiny pause.] Thanks for doing this, by the way. You probably have a hundred and four other things to do now that you're on the back of a magic turtle.
no subject
Not really. I actually don't have much to do besides settling in.
no subject
[So much to do! None of which Scott has done, oops, which he readily admits to in his next sentence.]
Not that I've really done a lot yet. Mostly just stayed inside and played around with stuff.
no subject
I'm sure we can both do that in time. Especially if we're going to be stuck here.
no subject
Being stuck here really seems to be a thing, doesn't it? I'm usually pretty good at unsticking myself but this is proving to be an exception.
[He slides Rory a look out of the corner of his eye.]
I hope you didn't have anything important going on back home.
no subject
At the question, he shakes his head.]
Nothing at all, don't worry. [It's just a change of scenery, really. From 1930s Manhattan to this.]
