Event | Yard Sale!

Characters: Come one, come all!
Date: July 21st - July 27th
Location: The City of Keeliai
Situation: The rationing is officially lifted and the kedan are celebrating by conducting one citywide yard sale! Think big! Think small! Think tribbles! Think all!
Warnings/Rating: Tribbles. Lots of tribbles. Please indicate content warnings in subject headers as applicable.

The morning of the 21st kicks off with heralds roving about the city of Keeliai to declare that the rationing edict has been lifted and that citizens no longer have to contribute one-fifth of their productions (juulan or physical goods) to the communal stores maintained by the police force. These announcements trigger a state of celebration across the city as kedan drag months worth of hoarded items to the street to sell, steal, or trade in a wave of mercantile goodness that stretches for nearly a week. Not even the rising tide of tribbles seems to dampen their spirit, with kedan citywide finding new and inventive uses for the fuzzy paperweights.

Characters are free to do as they will during this event, with police oversight relaxed in the aftermath of the long rationing and strained relations. Impromptu sales out of suites will rarely be inspected and purchase made elsewhere are no longer monitored. Everyone is taking a breath of fresh air, so to speak, and most do not want their first fun in months to be ruined.

OOC: See the OOC announcement for details and this post for subheaders in which you may wreak havoc celebrate the lifting of the rationing. Feel free to start your own thread header if you like! <3

[He hasn't tried to drag Tony out of the air and drown him yet, so as far as prejudices are concerned, Arthur is in good shape. Tony appreciates not having to fight for his life. That always makes the day better.]

Well, I guess that makes me feel better. Not that I plan on going swimming in the near future, but it's always good to know when things are going as expected.

But if there were any doubts, you can just go with "Iron Man" if you need something to call me. Surfacer doesn't sound quite the same.

[It's just rude to try to drown someone on your first meeting. Arthur does have some experience in diplomacy.]

The waters are safe as long as you stay near to the shore. They don't usually come up this far. [Tony is making progress. Arthur isn't telling him to keep out of his damn waters!]

"Iron Man" is any better? [But he's got a wry little smile on.]
definingfuture: (T - No pants. You're welcome.)

[Arthur should explain that to Namor some time. Tony is pretty sure that drowning is the man's default test for greeting new faces.]

So how far out is too far? In case I need to fly around for some reason.

[He might be an annoying, pushy bastard, but he does try to ask now and then when it seems like the right thing to do. In this case, it was because he was actually enjoying the conversation with Arthur. It didn't hurt to try to stay on the good side of one king of Atlantis.]

Iron Man is classic. It has personal meaning. If you want to insult me, I'd at least prefer you personalize it. That's what all the cool kids are doing these days.

About... three quarters of a mile, give or take, depending on where the prey fish are moving about that day, I would say. But I think you're alright in your tin can.

[It's said mildly teasingly though, he's not actually trying to insult the armor. Or Tony himself with the use of the word 'surfacer'. It's just hard to figure out what it means to be on Arthur's good side at first.]

Iron Man, then. But if I do feel the need to insult you, I'll make sure it's a good one.

I'll keep an eye out. Hopefully your friends don't need more minerals in their diet.

[Tony's not actually offended by the remarks about the armor. He's had plenty of heroes and people with training say worse, because it was true and because they resented him. Insults fly freely when you're a man who has made billions off of weapons development contracts and lived the kind of lifestyle he has. He doesn't dwell on them.]

Good. Make sure it's creative, too. You know how boring repetition can be. If it's all the same to you, I'm sticking with Arthur. I like the sound of it.
