The starting point of landfall and the smallest port of importance in all the republic. All visitors will have a fish mark stamped on their tin visa if they are granted access here. The homes here are sturdy and built to withstand the harsh sea winds, though the dome has rendered their sturdiness largely irrelevant as the years pass. Fish represent the primary theme of food, with preserved and smoked renditions a commodity often sent for trade to others towns. Local authorities will ask for the tin card visa of each visitor upon first sight, verifying the information with some scrutiny before handing it back and allowing them to continue onwards. There are some auctions held here, with the items obtained often showing signs of recovery from the ocean floor by diving parties in search of fish to net.

He looks over the edge briefly, tilting his head far enough that the little bird tumbles off and flutters about in the air with chirpy indignation. Prussia's face scrunches and contorts in what is probably a look of amusement, but looks a bit like awkward without the sound to accompany it. But his little bird is not as amused and immediately flies off to land on Jack's head, insulting Prussia as he goes in his own language.

Prussia just writes down something else in his notebook, and then holds it up for Jack to see again.

This is nothing compared to the winter when the whole Baltic froze over. Should have seen the fish then.

"What, the last time in '87?" Jack asks, his mind automatically supplying the information (he would never fully get used to that, having such things just be known) and then wondered again if certain dates like that would line up in both their worlds.

"It's frozen over... 20 or so times since I started out," he says thoughtfully. "More before then."
cantbewalled: (Fuck that)

Prussia shakes his head and waves a hand, as if dismissive that time altogether. That was nothing, in his opinion. Modern day makes the freezing was too easy to deal with. Too much technology to help combat it. He writes down on the notepad again and holds it up.

That wasn't a freeze. When I was a kid, not there was some real freezing. Back when I was just a little Teutonic Knight, those winters could get harsh. Russia always blamed it on General Winter.

Jack's gaze shuttered a little at that and he didn't reply until after he had cut the little girl a fresh slice of fruit. Corele was watching Prussia and the bird with wide, interested eyes.

"He was probably right," Jack finally said with a shrug. They'd already established that who Prussia knew as 'General Winter' was very likely Old Man Winter, the Seasonal before Jack. It was not a topic the spirit was overly thrilled to bring up.

Prussia pats Baby Tooth on the head very gently--he can't help having a soft spot for cute things and she's definitely grown on him as kind of adorable. His yellow bird fluffs up like the spoiled little thing it is at the sight of him paying her attention, but it only amuses him. So his bird decides to flutter around the little girl instead, chirping enticingly at her.

He himself doesn't notice Jack's awkwardness about the topic, not that it would have stopped him particularly anyway. Best way to deal with this you don't like is to run head long into them, in his opinion. Get that shit over with.

He writes down something else on the pad and holds it up again.

Not like it made a difference whether it was or wasn't. Russia was always damn cold with or without him. Don't know why I ever bothered invading it. Should have been going after the Ottoman Empire or some place warm.

The easy dismissal of the topic lets Jack do the same and he chuckled. "I think that should be on the official invasion checklist! 'Does this place have sandy beaches and drinks with umbrellas?' If not, it escapes annexing for now."

Prussia laughs, but it's soundless. Still his cheeks are red from the chill and his mouth is spread wide in a grin. He reaches up to pet Baby Tooth on the head, which gets the yellow bird flustered with jealousy. He proceeds to flutter and nuzzle his head into Jack's hair. Prussia knows he's just trying to get a rise out of him so he doesn't do anything. Instead he goes back to writing. It's a frustrating form of communication, but it's what he's got at the moment.

As long as it's not in Africa. There's hot and then there's insane.
