Event | Landfall | Bresilyk | Aihsohlow
Characters: Any and all!
Date: December 3 - 11, 2013
Location: Aihsohlow, Bresilyk (landfall)
Situation: Tu Vishan makes landfall at the winterbound republic of Bresilyk!
Warnings/Rating: Please include warnings in comment subject lines
OOC Post | Approved Items | Special Gifts
Aihsohlow | Phorezton | Markutte | Countryside
The starting point of landfall and the smallest port of importance in all the republic. All visitors will have a fish mark stamped on their tin visa if they are granted access here. The homes here are sturdy and built to withstand the harsh sea winds, though the dome has rendered their sturdiness largely irrelevant as the years pass. Fish represent the primary theme of food, with preserved and smoked renditions a commodity often sent for trade to others towns. Local authorities will ask for the tin card visa of each visitor upon first sight, verifying the information with some scrutiny before handing it back and allowing them to continue onwards. There are some auctions held here, with the items obtained often showing signs of recovery from the ocean floor by diving parties in search of fish to net.

Jack Frost > OTA
Now they're sitting on the pier, legs dangling over the edge as they watch the fisherman and the boats. Jack's acquired them a picnic basket and they nibble on slices of fruit, savoury smoked fish and nibs of cheese. Baby Tooth has rejoined them after her exploratory flight around the dome and Corele is sitting in Jack's lap, chattering on about her upcoming birthday and showing off her new shade of blue hair she's just learned how to shift.

Big Brother!Jack was easily the most adorable of all Jacks. Even Zatanna had to smile, despite her wariness when it came to small children. There was no signs of wariness now, however, as she hung back for a few and watched the little girl in his lap tell him all the stories. She couldn't hear what they were actually saying, but it didn't matter.
"Aren't you going to introduce me to the newest girl in your life, Jack?" With a wink, she eventually came over to sit beside him, offering the tiny kedan a warm smile in greeting. "What's your name, sweetie?"
no subject
"I'm Coree," the girl said, giving her nickname. "My hair is blue today! And I maded ripplies on my skin!" she turned to show off her cheek which did indeed bear a pretty pattern, like the bottom of a swimming pool in the sunlight.
no subject
"Very cool." It wasn't patronizing, either. "You pull both looks off better than I ever could."
no subject
"Corele's mom and dad had some selling to do," he explained. "So she's hanging out with Baby Tooth and I today."
no subject
"You have no idea how hard it is to book this guy, with how popular he is around here. Forget about one-on-one time. You're a lucky girl today, Coree. I'm almost a little jealous."
Baby Tooth fluttered over to her, in between nibbling on her own treat. Zatanna glanced up, offering the tiny fairae a small pat on the head.
"You too."

His little bird flew off and toward the docks while he was deciding if he wanted to buy some food, so he followed after him, wondering what had gotten into the fluffy thing this time. He didn't expect to see a familiar white head sitting on the dock with a little kid in his lap. He doesn't talk--he can't, and nothing he's done has fixed that--but his footsteps should be loud enough to be heard. The little bird is heading right for the little girl's head and Prussia would like to grab him before he startles her.
no subject
Jack looked up at the footsteps and gave a smile and a half wave, the other arm keeping Corele from leaning too far over the edge of the pier. "Hey Gilbert."
no subject
Prussia just raises a hand in a wave of his own before reaching out and scooping the bird out of the air into his palm. The yellow bird chirps, Prussia glares, and then sits him back on his head, effectively grounding him. The little yellow bird is not pleased but doesn't move, his chirping sounding much less cheery.
That handled, Prussia turns his attention back to Jack and motions with his hands toward the dock and then to the sea. There's a kind of question in his movements.

Jack glances out to the sea and then back again, with a smile. "Just enjoying the view. Tu Vishan may be a turtle but there's something nice about seeing the ocean like this."

Arthur Curry | OTA
He takes to the pier right away, bringing a handful of dried seaweed with him after watching some of the older people doing it, and he can be found kneeling there and scattering seaweed crumbs for the fish, conversing with them like some of the natives - except his conversations aren't so one-sided. Occasionally he'll take a larger chunk of the seaweed and chew on it himself.] I see why you all like this stuff. Ah? Maybe I will go for a swim...
I couldn't resist
He's bundled up, though. It's freezing, here, and he can't imagine what it's like underwater. Still, he wasn't too surprised to see Mr. Curry...Aquaman...Arthur... also here. He was a little. Okay, a little weird, but he could talk to fish, so it was normal.]
I can see why people could get the impression that you were a little nuts. [He walks a little closer, but also keeping a respectful distance.]
no subject
Just because you can't hear them doesn't mean they don't have voices. [He points out mildly, dipping his fingers in the water and letting a couple of the baby fish nibble at them.] What have you been up to?
no subject
He won't be able to do it for long, but the fish could probably use some variety.]
You're right, I spoke too soon on it. [He gives a nod, a small smile on his face.] I've gone sledding and checking out auctions, mostly. But most of the time, I'm dealing with little dramas happening with people I know, with other people I know.
no subject
Ah? What sorts of drama?

He steps closer finally, chuckling as he listens to Arthur.] They enjoy your company as always.

You care. It is not just food, but the sense of security that animals can feel from their allies. They trust you to treat them with respect.
no subject
They seem to like you too. [The little fish don't seem to show any fear of people as they gather around; they've been fed on these piers for a while by the older natives.]

Seaside, closed to Eren
That was a momentous occasion on its own. For awhile, the light was almost as blinding as the darkness, and it took some getting used to again. But he was too overjoyed to be irritated. He took Eren around the house, finally able to properly explain all the devices in their suite to him. Then he took him out to the wood sector, and introduced him to everything there too.
That's when he began to hear, in chatter amongst the Kedan, that they had made landfall. Curious, he questioned a few of them about it. He had learned in passing that Tu Vishan did occasionally meet with the continent, but he didn't know that actual people (at least, other sentient beings) lived there and thrived. And they were allowed to visit?
Ir took a full day to convince Eren to go with him, but it was worth the badgering. All he had to do was agree to wear full gear if they went, which he would have done regardless. They procured a gift, and left the next morning.
There was a gate open in the walls that surrounded the shell of the Turtle where people were now gathering to come and go. For the first time, he was able to see the rim of it's shell, and one of it's gargantuan flippers... By the Walls, they really were floating about in the ocean on the back of some giant creature.
Armin was so flabbergasted by the sight that he had to pause on the docks, before they even reached customs.

... Only for something new to crop up, it seemed. Truth be hold, Eren was already feeling perplexed by just about everything around him. The more Armin explained to him, the more lost he was; everything was so new, so foreign, he felt out of his element and wondered if there was ever any hope of getting accustomed to anything. So, this "landfall"—what was that supposed to mean?
Armin insisted on going, and in the end, Eren wasn't going to let him head on alone. Maybe... it would be worth checking out, in the end.
And so, Eren follows behind him as they head out, both decked out in their gear (because who knew what was out there, anyway). Once they began to reach the edge of Keeliai, Eren begins to focus even more on their surroundings in awe and wonder; all of this, was... well, in its own way, kind of amazing.
It was even more so the moment they passed through the gate.
"What the..." Eren murmurs his shock aloud, pausing for only a few moments behind Armin before taking slow, tentative steps forward again. "What is all this?"
no subject
Yet he doesn't sound like he was entirely sure himself. Now though, there's nothing to deny. He walks to the edge of he dock, and kneels down, staring curiously at the white-capped water lapping at the supports, covered in barnacles, algae and seaweed. It's very clear due to how cold it is, and he can see small fish dart about and multicolored crabs scuttle around on the sandy floor. The briny smell is overwhelming.
Looking to either side, the coast goes on forever. On nearby beaches the tide rolls in lazily on sluggish waves. Armin pauses, then grins nervously as he gets to his feet and breaks into a run. Screw the boarder police-- they'll get to them later. He wasn't interested in the port quite yet. He wanted to see the ocean.
no subject
There's so much to take in at once—it felt almost impossible to try to figure out where to start. This "Asti" thing, the prominent smell of salt, the crystal clear waters that stretch as far as the eye could see... Eren was so engrossed in the scenery before them that he almost didn't notice Armin bolt it.
"—Armin?" Eren snaps his head back in his direction, but he's already run off too far. Not wanting to be left behind, he starts in a run after him. "Hey, Armin! Wait up!"
no subject
How often was it that it was Eren chasing down Armin, and not the other way around? It was like a reversal of their childhood. He leapt down from the docks and into the sand, losing his footing for a moment in the wet muck.
The water lapped at his boots, and he could feel how icy-cold it was through them. How positively odd! All around him were little-- rocks? But they were strangely shaped and colored. He'd look at them more closely in a second, but first, he had to...
He knelt down again, carefully on the balls of his feet so he wouldn't get his clothes wet and freeze to death, and cupped some numbingly-cold water into his hands to drink.
Which he promptly spat out. Dramatically.
"That's terrible!"
