OOC Post | Approved Items | Special Gifts
Aihsohlow | Phorezton | Markutte | Countryside

The starting point of landfall and the smallest port of importance in all the republic. All visitors will have a fish mark stamped on their tin visa if they are granted access here. The homes here are sturdy and built to withstand the harsh sea winds, though the dome has rendered their sturdiness largely irrelevant as the years pass. Fish represent the primary theme of food, with preserved and smoked renditions a commodity often sent for trade to others towns. Local authorities will ask for the tin card visa of each visitor upon first sight, verifying the information with some scrutiny before handing it back and allowing them to continue onwards. There are some auctions held here, with the items obtained often showing signs of recovery from the ocean floor by diving parties in search of fish to net.

[If his toes freeze off, then Dick is screwed. There's only so long he can walk on his hands, after all, and what if he got frostbite on those?]

They don't. Not that I can talk either, I have a tendency to run my mouth without thinking. [He laughs a little at that. God knows, he's stuck his foot into his mouth plenty of times.]

So, I've been caught in drama, and you've been... what have you been up to, lately? [He should have kept up, he should have.]
relentlesstide: (wry smile)

It's not such a bad thing as long as what comes out isn't harmful. Or drama-causing, apparently. [His smile is slight and a little wry, the closest he gets to joking with people he's not close to.]

Not much. Egg care keeps me busy. Otherwise, keeping up with Kaldur's training, for the most part. [He's a sea-hermit.]
bludhavenknight: ([D] Hey how you doing?)

[personal profile] bludhavenknight 2014-01-26 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[It is some form of joking, and it makes him feel pretty good. He likes getting people to relax enough to be funny.] It's only harmful when it comes to making some comment about a person's looks, when you think it's a compliment and they don't. Then it does cause drama.

[He laughs at that, as the next part has his face showing real interest. It was already real, but this is real too.] How is his training going? Is it harder to do it here then it would back home, or is it pretty much the same?

And how's egg care going? I'm not asking too many questions, am I?
relentlesstide: (civvies)

[personal profile] relentlesstide 2014-02-02 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
I'll take your word for that. I don't do much commenting on people's appearances. [He has no room to talk. Cat-face-beard and harpoon hand. Ah, the 90s, when Mera wasn't around to dress him.]

It's... more difficult without Mera. She knows more about his abilities than I ever will, but we're managing, I think. [As well as they can.] Egg care is going as well as I imagine it could be. And no, you're not. You've met Garth, you know how used to chatter I must be.

Just a word to the warning, if you ever do decide to. [This is a good thing to know.] Never ask a woman when she's expecting. Too many holes to fall into on that one.

[See, he's got this down. But he wants to say something encouraging, like 'she might come back'. But he's not giving any false hope when it comes to that sort of thing.] Yeah, I think I have some idea of how much chatter you've dealt with.

[Oh, Garth.] I'd offer help with any of that, but I might not be the right person to help with that. The egg I could help with. We'll set our kids up on a playdate sometime, they might like that.
relentlesstide: (mild smirk)

[personal profile] relentlesstide 2014-02-10 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[Arthur quirks an eyebrow at that.] Does this come from experience?

[A quiet snort of laughter.] Maybe. It's hard to tell what they'll like or not until they hatch.
bludhavenknight: ([D] You know me and plans)

[personal profile] bludhavenknight 2014-02-12 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
Experience from too many times of it. That's why I now keep my mouth shut, until I see someone else say it. If they get punched or not is usually the best indicator of what the right thing to say is. [He laughs at that, shaking his head with a grin.]

But don't we as parents get to dictate what out kids wear and do until they're old enough to tell us no? I thought we'd have the power for a couple of years!
relentlesstide: (almost a smirk)

[personal profile] relentlesstide 2014-02-15 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
I see. [A slight smirk, that takes on a slightly wistful quality as he trails his feet through the water.] Mera never seemed to mind it. Then again, there was no mistaking it with her.

[That just gets a snort out of him.] Spoken like someone who's never raised a child. You think I ever told Garth what to wear and do? Even Artie and Cerdian would randomly decide they didn't like something sometimes.

It probably was a lot different. [Watches him a moment before looking back out at the water. There were a lot of things different, but friends were friends. It didn't matter where they lived or where they came from.]

I don't know, I always assumed that parents picked out the clothes. [He grins.] Maybe not the what to do part, but definitely the clothes. When I have my first kid, I'm going to probably have a rude awakening. I can see it now.

[Hand up.] First human kid, I mean.
relentlesstide: (soft smile)

[personal profile] relentlesstide 2014-02-20 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
[He barely holds in a laugh.] Maybe at first, but have fun with it while it lasts. And even then, they'll criticize your choices. My son hated socks and he'd try to throw them at his mother. [Those were days long past, but he's learned over the years that you can't let the sadness take over all your memories of someone. The good memories are worth holding onto and sharing.]
bludhavenknight: ([D] Flying high circus boy)

[personal profile] bludhavenknight 2014-02-25 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[It can be sad and still good. Dick sometimes thinks that if you lost the memories of what you had, then what was the point in doing anything? Or wondering why you were doing something?]

I wasn't a big fan of socks myself. [He laughs, remembering that rather well.] I still don't really like socks, I'll wear sneakers without them if given the chance.

[Oh boy, what else.] Alfred keeps trying to dress me, too, even now. What's really wrong with a pair of sweatpants?
relentlesstide: (what?)

[personal profile] relentlesstide 2014-02-25 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Do I even have to answer that question? [Dick. Sweatpants. Really? You were a terrible influence on Garth.]
bludhavenknight: (Default)

[personal profile] bludhavenknight 2014-03-02 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Has that ever been in debate? Dick looks at him sheepishly.]

Okay, probably not. But they are comfortable! Can't deny that!
relentlesstide: (mild smirk)

[personal profile] relentlesstide 2014-03-02 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[His smile is slight but amused.] I think our peoples have different ideas of what comfortable clothes are.

You make a good point. I don't think everyone would like me walking around in just my swim trunks in freezing cold temperatures. As a thought. I mean, I don't think I would like it either, but...
relentlesstide: (somewhat pleasant)

[personal profile] relentlesstide 2014-03-05 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Most likely, humans aren't very adaptable to extreme temperatures. It just feels pleasant out here to me, there isn't exactly much warmth on the bottom of the Atlantic.
