Event | Landfall | Bresilyk | Aihsohlow
Characters: Any and all!
Date: December 3 - 11, 2013
Location: Aihsohlow, Bresilyk (landfall)
Situation: Tu Vishan makes landfall at the winterbound republic of Bresilyk!
Warnings/Rating: Please include warnings in comment subject lines
OOC Post | Approved Items | Special Gifts
Aihsohlow | Phorezton | Markutte | Countryside
The starting point of landfall and the smallest port of importance in all the republic. All visitors will have a fish mark stamped on their tin visa if they are granted access here. The homes here are sturdy and built to withstand the harsh sea winds, though the dome has rendered their sturdiness largely irrelevant as the years pass. Fish represent the primary theme of food, with preserved and smoked renditions a commodity often sent for trade to others towns. Local authorities will ask for the tin card visa of each visitor upon first sight, verifying the information with some scrutiny before handing it back and allowing them to continue onwards. There are some auctions held here, with the items obtained often showing signs of recovery from the ocean floor by diving parties in search of fish to net.

Jack looked up at the footsteps and gave a smile and a half wave, the other arm keeping Corele from leaning too far over the edge of the pier. "Hey Gilbert."

Prussia just raises a hand in a wave of his own before reaching out and scooping the bird out of the air into his palm. The yellow bird chirps, Prussia glares, and then sits him back on his head, effectively grounding him. The little yellow bird is not pleased but doesn't move, his chirping sounding much less cheery.
That handled, Prussia turns his attention back to Jack and motions with his hands toward the dock and then to the sea. There's a kind of question in his movements.

Jack glances out to the sea and then back again, with a smile. "Just enjoying the view. Tu Vishan may be a turtle but there's something nice about seeing the ocean like this."

Prussia pulls out a small notebook he's been keeping in his pocket and a pencil before writing on it. Then he scratches out whatever he wrote and writes something else. Eventually, he holds it up for Jack to see. There are words written in German obviously crossed out, but beneath it is a sentence in English.
What's the big deal with water?
no subject
He pointed downward to the water's surface off the edge of the pier, where several large fish were swimming lazily and enjoying the scraps being tossed to them.

Prussia just writes down something else in his notebook, and then holds it up for Jack to see again.
This is nothing compared to the winter when the whole Baltic froze over. Should have seen the fish then.
no subject
"It's frozen over... 20 or so times since I started out," he says thoughtfully. "More before then."
no subject
That wasn't a freeze. When I was a kid, not there was some real freezing. Back when I was just a little Teutonic Knight, those winters could get harsh. Russia always blamed it on General Winter.
no subject
"He was probably right," Jack finally said with a shrug. They'd already established that who Prussia knew as 'General Winter' was very likely Old Man Winter, the Seasonal before Jack. It was not a topic the spirit was overly thrilled to bring up.
no subject
He himself doesn't notice Jack's awkwardness about the topic, not that it would have stopped him particularly anyway. Best way to deal with this you don't like is to run head long into them, in his opinion. Get that shit over with.
He writes down something else on the pad and holds it up again.
Not like it made a difference whether it was or wasn't. Russia was always damn cold with or without him. Don't know why I ever bothered invading it. Should have been going after the Ottoman Empire or some place warm.

As long as it's not in Africa. There's hot and then there's insane.
