Situation: The discovery of an artifact from the first war against Malicant reveals the land of Kithika within a dimension of the Death Plane... and just happens to be contained inside a bottle.

Commencing the morning of the tenth, a mysterious thick, black fog covers all of Keeliai with no discernible cause, making it difficult to see. Although it doesn't seem to enter houses or suites, it's literally everywhere else and can't be swept or cleared away by superpowers. Attempts to scan it with technology lead to unexpected and inconsistent results, with the findings varying from speculation that it is smoke from a coal fire to the occasional reading stating that it is black cotton candy floating in the air.

Following the official announcement explaining origins of the mysterious black fog inundating Keeliai, the call is put out for the Foreigners to attend the Palace and prepare to be transported to Kithika. Once inside, it is explained, they will be responsible for finding the source of the corruption and expunging it. Once they have entered the bottle it will be impossible for them to leave until their task is completed, making this an all or nothing undertaking. This is upon direct imperative of the Alderwood Emperor and he expects any and all combat-capable Foreigners to heed his order, and they are to report to the Palace of the Landed Sky without delay.

River shook her head quickly, messy hair flipping back and forth with the vehement motion. "Not the same, one can be quantified. It needs rules to work, can't just be there or it's a broken singularity but why would in be in a bottle?"

She utters a dismissive laugh, like that idea was just absurd. "Inside the bottle, down the rabbit hole..."

She's going to take that answer as a 'no', for now at least.

"Okay, Alice in Wonderland is definitely the right example for how crazy this is. You're right, one does have real rules to it, but without being told, we have no idea which applies in this case. As for why it's in a bottle, I have no idea."

"Alice..." River echoes thoughtfully, like she's trying to place the memory. She knows, it's somewhere in her mind but it's being drowned out by so much else right now.

"Are you Alice?"

For the other girl's sake, she's hoping she's staying behind. "While I'm planning on going down the rabbit hole, I can't say that I am."

And because she's gettimg the feeling the distinction here's important: "I'm called Spider-Girl."

River's expression brightens and she steeples her fingers together, miming a spider's walk with them. "Spider silk is able to stretch four times its original length without breaking, with a greater density actually making it stronger than similarly thin steel. The strongest silk, considered to be 10 times more durable than Kevlar, is produced by the Darwin’s bark spider."

...While that all sounds about right- or at least in the realm of it- May's completely convinced that the babble is not really a good thing. Or at least, it's a sign that things weren't okay for someone.

"No silk here, but I do have webbing." She taps the side of one of them, rather than the mechanism itself. She needs to conserve it for going in, instead of using it to get on anyone's bad side here in the palace.

"Will you show me when you come back?" River asked, nodding at the bottle. At this point she didn't know if she would (if she was able) to go inside the bottle and as such would end up entering it much later than the others.

"Sure! I'm not sure how I'll find you to do it, but you can usually find me swinging around the Fire and Metal sectors most evenings when I'm not merrily making my way into a tiny bottle." Tiny bottle. Portals. Different worlds were always going to give her a headache. "Alternately, if you know where your suite is, I can swing by there at some point. Any chance I can get a name out of you?"

"River," she replied and since she knew what her suite address was added, "WA-2A. By the canal with the yellow stones."

It's a relief that River's not as dislocated from reality as she could be.

"Right. I'll keep that in mind. Right now, there's a tiny death bottle that awaits. Hopefully I'll be back to see you around."

If not, she has bigger problems.

"Don't get stuck," River offered, which could have meant either inside the realm within the bottle... or in the bottle's shape. With River, it was hard to tell. But the encouraging smile she gave the other girl was genuine.

"I'll be trying to avoid that, believe me." She waves bye before heading in the direction of the bottle.

That was definitely one of the more interesting conversations she's had around here.
