Situation: Tu Vishan has made landfall on Siaxhi, to explore the Dreaming Watch City of Valishaera.
Warnings/Rating: Please indicate content warnings in subject headers as applicable.

As Tu Vishan draws near, the heavy jungle visible even from miles out quickly identifies the landmass as Siaxhi, one of the westernmost continents in Konryu and one that has been largely untouched insofar as the kedan themselves have gone. There is a natural inlet along the southeast shore on the continent and Tu Vishan makes for that, though he fills nearly all of it.

JUNGLE

The jungle portal is overrun with flora and fauna that you’d expect in that environment. It’s a test of survival. Characters who enter this realm will find themselves learning how to fight, if necessary. Weapons will appear and disappear as thought of, real only in the Dreaming. If a character enters as a fighter, they will be given a trial of combat, with success granting them a temporary boost of physical strength. If not a trained fighter, they will be given training in basics, which they’ll remember as a vague, blurry memory but clear muscle memories. (I.E. they won’t consciously remember how to fight, but if pressed they’ll discover that they’re surprisingly good at it for a newbie.)

[He's prepared now for something new to hit him when he enters a new portal, but, nonetheless, Enjolras does feel a little lost the moment he enters the portal, glancing around at a particularly vivid flower, and continuing to walk a little, having to step over some particularly overgrown plantlife as he continues to make his way around.]

CLOSED to HAYLEY

After having discovered the exact nature of the gateways, Solomon felt more secure in taking others through them. He could have investigated the other two on his own, or asked Raine to attend with him, but in the end he decided they were opportunities he couldn't pass up.

It took him some time to find Hayley on the island, but when he had he approached her pleasantly, as he usually did. "Good morning."

"I haven't broken the sphere yet," she offered with a light sigh. It was clear that that fact annoyed her. Hayley was an honor student; she wanted to excel and to succeed in everything she did because she didn't like losing. Lifting a hand to scratch at her hair, she shrugged and turned her attention to the steps not far from them. Unlike Solomon, Hayley was oblivious to the gateways and what they led to.

"How are you?"

"I wasn't expecting you to have done so," Solomon said blandly, and leaving Hayley to interpret the words how she chose. "In fact, I was wondering whether you would be interested in a field-trip. It may serve to help." He shrugged. "Of course, it may not." He smiled. "That's the novelty of a surprise."

She chose to accept his words as a reassurance, rather than a slight, and focused instead on his invitation. Hayley both hated surprises and was delighted by the mystery of them. Going with Solomon was its own brand of tempting fate, still not entirely certain what the man was really like or what accompanying him might lead to.

"Sure," she replied with a small smirk. "Where to, professor?"

"Professor," he mused with an indulgent smile. "I like that. This way." He led her toward the portal into the Dreaming, and then toward the three gates. "There are three gates here which apparently gift a boon to those who enter them," he explained as he walked. "But only once."

They came to the portals and Solomon nodded to the magic-gate. "I've been through that one." He smiled at Hayley, almost innocently but with a gleam of challenge in his eyes. "Would you like to see where one of the others leads?"

"Well there goes the fun in that," she teased lightly, in response to his accepting the nickname with ease. Hayley followed, obedient for now, listening and appreciating the wisdom though she wouldn't admit as much aloud. The portals were both beautiful and intimidating, instilling in the girl a familiar sense of fear, like the gateways of Sinbrilee.

"What's behind them? I mean, I like you and all? But I'm so not ready to die for you. You're great, it's not you it's me, whatever, but not my thing."

Solomon laughed. "I haven't the faintest idea. The first one was a forest full of giant, luminescent and magical mushrooms--though I didn't try to eat any, I assure you." He threw an amused glance at her. "That's the purpose of going through them, after all. Don't worry. I'll make sure you don't die."

It was said flippantly, but it was true--Solomon stretched his students' talents, but he never threw them in the deep-end without a lifeguard present. But he wasn't going to give Hayley the chance to back out; so with one last indulgent smile he strolled toward the gateway. "I'll see you on the other side, shall I?"

For some reason she never quite understood, Hayley took a strange sense of delight and proud in making Solomon laugh. She supposed it was a result of their first meeting and how little he seemed amused in a general capacity, but it was difficult to tell whether that was true or the bias of limited observation. Whatever the case, making him smile often made her smile in turn.

"My hero," she teased, responding to his underlying honesty with an unspoken gratitude just before he moved through the portal. Then she had no choice but to follow and so she did, with relative ease all things considered, striding through and emerging on the other side to stand beside him not unlike they were a moment before. Only, this time, their surroundings were far more intriguing - and intimidating - than the ruins of the town.

[Tazendra tensed, feeling that someone or something was heading towards her. She drew her sword.]

Well, let us have it.

[She wasn't displeased by this.]

Korra | OTA

Hardly moments after Korra had entered through the portal, she was on alert and a survival knife appeared strapped to her boot. Being a natural fighter and taught survival skills by her father in the South Pole meant Korra was to be tested by combat. With most of her life being nothing but tests of her physical prowess, Korra easily took to the challenge and was following the trail of what would be her opponent.

The jungle meant many dangerous animals would be lurking and waiting to strike, and she intended to strike right back. A mamba passed along the branch over her head and Korra looked up just in time to see it open its mouth to bite her. Korra took in a quick breath and blew out a a piercing wind that sent it flying up through the treetops right before its fangs were on her face.

"...I probably should have tried to catch it." That was a potential waste now that she thought about it.

Sarah | Open

She's not a fighter, but here she is. Sarah wants to be better, to do better. Over the past few months, the kid has learned that others, no matter how close they are to her, may not stick around. She's got friends and allies, but there's been too many gone for her to solely rely on them.

Before her is a staff, and Sarah looks around a moment before reaching to pick it up. This must be it. This must be where the training starts.

Nilin | Open

Her body is a weapon. Even without her Sensen, Nilin is more than capable of kicking butt without even breaking a sweat. The chance to learn something new though, to improve and master something more than hand to hand is one she can't pass up.

The jungle is a maze of overgrown foliage, but Nilin moves with ease through the trees. "Come then," she says, a challenge to the world around her. "Show me what you've got."

People may think Hawke a fool but he still remains one of the most deadly men in Kirkwall. Ogres fall to his blades. Dragons lay slain at his feet. Even the Qunari's greatest warrior died by his hands in single combat. When it comes to a fight, Hawke knows he's good. Except, there's always someone better out there isn't there? If he wants to stay alive he can never let himself grow complacent in his abilities.

Hawke stays silent as he moves through the jungle. With no one to banter with there's really no point in talking. Sure Notch is always there, but despite his intelligence it's hard to banter with a dog. Of course, when he hears a very familiar voice within the foliage he just can't help himself.

"Well, only because you asked so nicely," He says loud enough for her to hear and approaches her through the brush.

That's a voice she knows all too well. Nilin smirks and shakes her head, putting a hand on her hip as she looks his way. "I should of known you'd pop up somewhere, Hawke."

He's everywhere, and Nilin is more than okay with that. Of all the people to run into, she forever glad that it's him.

Hawke just grins playfully at her, doing his best to appear innocent. He fails horribly at doing so but still he tries. "Well far be it from me to disappoint you," Hawke replies with a wink.

If Hawke were to travel with anyone, Nilin would definitely be at the top of that list. Her company is always more than welcome as far as he's concerned. There's just something that makes him more comfortable when he's around her.

She chuckles lightly and shakes her head. "Have you seen anything out there?" Nilin asks, motioning the way he came. "I feel... something. A power of sorts."

A challenge, more like. She's braced and ready for a fight but so far he's all she's found.

"Nothing but leaves, brush, and more leaves," Hawke answers with a shake of his head. His gaze turns towards the jungle around them, as if he's scanning for something just out of sight. "Can't shake the feeling that we're being watched."

Despite his grin, Hawke draws his weapons as he readies himself for anything. "Then again, that could just be my animal attrac-" Just then a snake larger than any he's seen before strikes from the bushes at his throat. His head rocks back, only just keeping the fangs from sinking into his neck before striking with an axe and slicing it in two.

She starts to move the moment the snake falls, eager to protect her friend whether he needs it or not. Hawke means something to her. Seeing him get hurt in anyway is something Nilin absolutely wants to avoid.

In the time it takes Hawke to slice the snake in two, Nilin is on full alert, her arm outstretched towards him and circles of data wrapped around her arm. A charged blast waits at her fingertips, ready to fire at her command. It's the first time she's really used her abilities around him.

"We should be on our guard, by the looks of it."

She drops her hand, any signs of what she just did gone in an instant.

His eyes move from the snake to Nilin and what she's doing. Hawke knows she can fight. Fighting the city's gangs was one of the first times they met face to face. However he's never seen her do anything like she's doing now. It's fascinating and confusing all at the same time.

After she lowers her arm he wants to ask her what that was, but decides that it might be best to wait. It reminds him that while she is still his closest friend, they know relatively little about each their pasts. Maybe when this is over he'll take some time to fix that.

Hawke continues to grip his axes tightly, not about to set them aside now they know actual danger is about. "Seems the wildlife here doesn't have a sense of humor."

He looks down to Notch who sniffs the snake's corpse experimentally. "And where were you? Don't tell your sniffer is stopped up."

The hound looks at Hawke and huffs once before dropping into a guarded stance.

There's a lot about herself that Nilin hasn't told anyone, be it here or back at home. This past few months has been different though. In Neo-Paris, she didn't need to say these things. People simply knew of her or witnessed it for themselves. Here, there's no one to spread the information.

She's not sure how to feel when he doesn't question her actions. On one hand, she appreciates the privacy. On the other, him asking would get to explaining something she's not sure where to start with.

"Either that or you need to work on your material," Nilin says, smirking. Her gaze moves skyward, from the direction the snake came. "I wonder, if we get higher, what would we see?"

And what else would try to kill them.

He appreciates privacy as well but in this whole time he's never said a word about himself either. Maybe it's because he never had to before now. His companions stood with him through the thick of most everything. They all know what he's been through. Nilin hasn't but he trusts her just as much. She deserves to know more about him as well.

"It's not my fault their humor is lacking," Hawke says, turning his nose towards the air in a haughty manner. It fades quickly into his wry grin from earlier.

His gaze then follows hers towards the canopy. "If I were to take a guess I would say even more trees. Only one way to find out though. Let me boost you up."

Moving to the nearest tree, Hawke laces his hands together in order to give her a boost into its branches.

Getting help in climbing is something Nilin isn't used to, but the offer is one she won't decline. For a second she watches him, then nods and moves to effortlessly place her foot on his hand to take that boost. The moment she's in the tree, Nilin climbs a few feet, each motion graceful and fluid.

After a moment she glances back down at him. "Do you want to come along, or would you rather stay there with Notch?"

For a moment, her grace in the tree briefly takes Hawke aback. He never thought anyone could move like that when they climbed. Just watching her makes Hawke feel like a klutz in comparison.

He looks to her, then down to Notch, and back to her again. Maybe he can't move like her but he's not about to decline the offer. "Bark if you see anything," he says to Notch before lifting an arm towards her.
