EVENT | LANDFALL | VALISHAERA

Characters: ALL!
Date: JULY 13-26
Location: Valishaera
Situation: Tu Vishan has made landfall on Siaxhi, to explore the Dreaming Watch City of Valishaera.
Warnings/Rating: Please indicate content warnings in subject headers as applicable.

As Tu Vishan draws near, the heavy jungle visible even from miles out quickly identifies the landmass as Siaxhi, one of the westernmost continents in Konryu and one that has been largely untouched insofar as the kedan themselves have gone. There is a natural inlet along the southeast shore on the continent and Tu Vishan makes for that, though he fills nearly all of it.

If he really is a creature of this world, my guess would be the former.

[Although Kaldur did raise an interesting point.]

Then why is Keeliai itself not more like this world? [It is something he's been wondering for a few months now.]

There is so much difference in how the lands we visit involve themselves with the magic of this world, it is almost as if the magic differs in each region. We have no solid proof of it being the same in all places.

Who says it's not?

I mean, obvious differences aside, think about it. Asti and the Turtles have gotten into our dreams before, right? What's to say that's not just some weaker form of the magic we're feeling here, now?

You are correct, but considering there are enough differences for us to notice, should we be accepting that conclusion so readily? Working under the assumption it is all the same has not led us to a better explanation for how and why the magic of this world works so far.

I'm not assuming anything.

I'm playing devil's advocate. Except I'm actually kind of leaning towards it being true.

I would say we all have been assuming it, unless this discussion is one that has been mentioned before that I was not aware of. [Which he isn't as vigilant as watching what is discussed over the network as he should be, so it's entirely possible.]

I agree it's the more probably answer, yes, but it feels like we've been stagnant recently, nothing we've found out has pushed us into any new discoveries about this world and how it works. Instead, all we gain are more questions.

[Mmmmaybe not so much over the network, per say, but this certainly wasn't the first time the subject of kedan magic had come up for her.]

And you think figuring out what makes the magic of this world different from Asti's might help?

With the power that our enemy has over technology, I do believe that the magic of this world will end up playing a great role in our victory. Something about the magic on Keeliai is different. We should learn as much as we can about it and whether that difference can work to our advantage.

[At the mention of possibly using it to their advantage, Zatanna...actually hesitated.]

I'm not sure that's a good idea, Kaldur. [She sounded unusually hesitant.] You remember what happened the last time kedan magic and I mixed, don't you?

[He does remember, and he remembers how people reacted due to it. His expression is understanding.]

We need to know so we can use their magic to protect their world, not our own. I share the same...reservations about mixing mystical forces of two different worlds, but that is why we must learn the magic of this world as much as we can.

And you really think that'll help?

I believe that in the end, we are not beings of this world, and that perhaps in some ways our influence is less...helpful than we would like it to be. So far we have not seen ways in which outside magic has done well in this world. Often our abilities were subject to the power of Asti's influence, losing them the further we got from him.

[Kaldur isn't sure this all means that their magic and sorcery is useless, quite the contrary, but he does believe it means that their abilities are not as secure and reliable as they could be.]

It may amount to nothing, but I do not believe we have many options open to us that we can ignore which ones we do find.

[It was a somewhat ironic statement, given that they had been told the reason for their presence here was because their help was so badly needed.]

I suppose it can't hurt to...look into it a little more. Again.

[personal profile] apologiesmyking 2014-08-13 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[It had been what they were told, but so far, Kaldur has found little to support it considering what Malicant has accomplished. Those without powers have had just as much impact and influence, so are they abilities truly what they needed? He wonders if they have been looking at their purpose here the wrong way.

But he also realizes he may have pushed it too far.]

Apologies, I may have made this a heavier occasion that it needed to be.

[She could only offer a noncommittal shrug at that.]

Just a bit.
