"Un! As long as we're careful, there's nothing to worry about," Akito chimes in, somehow managing to drape himself over Sarah's shoulders despite being a good deal shorter than her. He has his own worries, but nothing he can't handle. Even if he fails he knows he won't let Sarah fail along with him. "So just have confidence!"

Children. Every now and then Solomon almost wondered what it would be like to have the innocence again, and then remembered the fatal ignorance that had come with it. No, thank you.

"I was hardly worried," Solomon said dryly, and gave them a blithe smile accompanied by a contradictory gleam of intrigue. "More, perhaps, hoping for a challenge."

Which wasn't accurate either; all he really wanted was an accounting. But children tended to react to the mysterious, and even though Solomon considered Skulduggery's boy all but lost in terms of regard, there was no need to alienate the young lady.

That gets a pause. Her reaction to Akito had been laughter and halfhearted wriggling a little to get out of his reach, but with Solomon's words, she falls still.

Wide, curious eyes peer up at him. "Wait so. This don't scare you at all? Why would you want somethin' harder than this?"

"Some people think so highly of themselves that they don't believe things that might be a challenge for other people would be a challenge for them," Akito says, tone carefully neutral. He doesn't trust Solomon. The man reminds him enough of Nike - the kind of person who would play nice then backstab you on a moment's notice if it better served his needs - that it makes him keep his guard up. A bad person to be associated with, but Akito would rather play it safe than be sorry later on. "But! Luckily this won't be very scary, or too hard, ne?"

"And some people enjoy pushing themselves," Solomon answered, "and some simply want all the facts before they step into a task." He shrugged. "Retreat is always an avenue best kept open."

He hadn't had much of an opinion on Akito before now, but the child had that particular brand of snide faux-courtesy the English were so good at, and it did nothing to endear him to Solomon at all. And, apparently, the boy took things so personally and as a potential slight. What a nuisance.

"As it happens, I'm already familiar with sensing this sort of thing," he said, directing the comment to Sarah. "I can already sense objects from the Death Plane. This undertaking may not be particularly difficult, but it will certainly be useful for reasons other than what is intended."

"I... guess so." But safe is still the way Sarah would rather be, and the way she'd prefer everyone around her is as well. It's why she's here at all. If she can master this challenge, then she'll be able to help keep others safe.

As Solomon continues, Sarah can't help but feel a little uneasy. She's dead and she knows it. Even if it's not quite what he means, it's still a little unnerving. "Y-yeah. It'll be a big help in the end so. So let's do it! Let's kick butt!"

Akito can tell that Sarah is still nervous, which is to be expected. He still has some reservations himself (what if something doesn't work because Agito isn't with him?) but the benefits outweigh the possible risks (maybe he can meet Agito in the Dreaming). Plus it would worry him more if she wasn't nervous because it's always better to be more cautious than not.

"With the training you've been doing it should be a piece of cake," he tells her, poking her side cheerfully. "I'll follow your lead, ne? You can be Batman and I'll be Robin."

While not ignoring Solomon, per se, Akito tries not to let his presence bother him any more than it already does. He isn't sure how much of it is bad association, but the man sets his instincts on edge. And if there's one thing Akito has learned it's better to trust than to ignore, it's his instincts.

Her enthusiasm was almost endearing. Most children her age at the Temple had already been trained out of such hopefulness and almost blatantly reckless determination. It was enough to make Solomon smile slightly.

"If you wish some tutoring," he said, "I'll be available in the life-plane." With that deliberately mysterious smile he bowed, and turned to move away.
