TEL VISHAN BEACH PARTY

Situation: Baby Turtle Beach Party!

At the edge of Asti's shell there are coastlines of natural deposits that make up the closest thing to a 'beach' that they'll ever find in Keeliai. It's here that the official Tel Vishan Beach Party is set to take place. All turtle 'parents' will have gotten a message from their respective hatchlings about said party (perhaps a nice change from the whining and the temper tantrums).

Temporary shaded areas built with poles and sheets for weary parents or hatchlings who do decide to come, and some simple snacks and refreshments have been set up as well. There's a fishing net set up to act as a volleyball net for the day, and a ball waiting in the sand for some players.

The rest is up to those who come.

Garrett Hawke | Open

Hawke has been here since the beginning since Akito talked him into helping. Now that the party is up and running however, Hawke finds himself without any real clue what to do. He's never really been to a beach, and he's certainly never been to a party at the beach. So for the moment Hawke just finds himself standing aimlessly at the party without any real idea what to do. It seems there's a first time for everything.

Hawke should have some idea of what to do when a sopping wet teen runs up to shoot a short blast of water in his face. He may or may not get dragged into the water later on, but for now Akito figures that he can get some good practice in with his Waterbending in the form of a water fight.

He should have seen this coming. What else would Akito do after bringing him an area surrounded by water? Hawke sputters and wipes the water from his face. The man gives Akito a look and then, like the adult that he is, stomps closer to kick sand at him.

[akito]

It was either a water fight or being dragged into the water to swim (which he'll do later, with Quintus' help, probably). Akito shakes the sand from his hair and retaliates in kind, because what good is being on a beach if you don't have fun in the sand, too?

"You're not allowed to sneak off before swimming with Quintus, okay?"

It's phrased as a question but they both know it's anything but.

Hawke holds up his arm to shield his face from the sand before he kicks up more in Akito's direction. He's suddenly reminded of the snowball fight he had with Sarah and other kedan children. How does he always put himself in these situations?

"Who said I was sneaking off anywhere?"

Though despite having a pool of his own, he does relatively little swimming in it. Often he just finds himself lounging beside it.

"You seem like the kind of person who would try to sneak away eventually," he quips honestly, then spits sand out of his mouth. "Do you want to build a sand castle?"

Hawke rolls his eyes, "I appreciate your confidence in my character." To be fair, Akito is partly right. In Kirkwall Hawke slipped out of most parties he was invited to, but not before causing an appropriate amount of trouble.

"A sand castle?"

"A sand castle!" He kicks up some more sand, but not at Hawke. He likes the abrasive feeling between his toes. "You know - a castle made out of wet sand?"

Well that clears that confusion right up. Sorta. Hawke just shrugs his shoulders. "Can't say that I ever made one. Beaches are something new to me." The only other times he's ever seen a beach was when he was boarding a boat. Playing in the sand never really crossed his mind.

"There were no beaches where you come from?" He can understand someone never really having a chance to enjoy a beach. If he's being honest, Akito can't quite say he's been to them often himself. Nor has he ever had the chance to build a sand-castle.

"I've never made one either! But how hard can it be?"

"There were beaches. I just never spent time there playing in the sand. Normally I had more important things on my mind, like running for my life." That and the thought of relaxing at a beach never really occurred to him until now. Fereldan was far too cold for that and Kirkwall had more cliffs than beaches.

"You never want to say that out loud. That's just begging for trouble."

Akito pulls a face at him. "Maybe I think it's more fun if there's a little bit of trouble."

When Hawke was ten years younger he used to think like that. Now that his life is nothing but trouble, he sees it as a good day when he can do what he wants without cleaning up someone's mess or dealing with someone trying to kill him.

"Be careful what you wish far. Life has a funny way of giving it you."

Wherever one of them is, the other is bound to turn up. Or at least that's how it's been in Nilin's experience. Without a sound, she moves to stand at his side, arms folded as she looks towards the water.

"So... Just what is going on, exactly?"

Before she even speaks, Hawke finds himself smiling. Quiet as she is, the more time they spend around one another the easier it gets for him to feel her presence. He knew she would arrive here eventually, or at least he hoped that she would.

"Here I was hoping you could tell me. It looks like a party."

[alterer]

Nilin can't help but smile along with him. She makes a small, thoughtful sound and glances across at him. "I'll admit, it's strange to be in the middle of one."

Usually she's peering in from the outside, stealing something from someone's brain.

He turns his head to glance at her, his smirk widening just a little bit more. "That's no good. I was going to rely on you to walk me through this."

In Kirkwall, nobles invited Hawke to balls all the time in an attempt to butter him up. It always ended with Hawke losing interest very quickly and making his own fun. "Seems we'll have to work this out together then."

His words catch her off guard. Nilin raises her eyebrows and looks to him, surprise evident on her face. "I'll be honest, I figured you the type to be in the heart of something like this."

With a small smile she adds, "Whether willingly or not."

Hawke smiles back at her. "If we were in a ballroom maybe. If we were in a bar definitely. This is all new to me." He's not even dressed like a man going to the beach. While he's not in his armor this time, he wears the same shirt and pants that have made up his wardrobe since arriving in the city.

He looks down and kicks the sand at his feet. "Too much sand here."

[alterer]

That gets a chuckle. "I'm sorry to break it to you, Hawke, but it wouldn't be much of a beach party without sand."

Nilin takes a few more steps down the beach towards the water before pausing again. Without warning, she sits and starts to kick off her boots. "I get that this is for the hatchlings, but I myself haven't been on a beach in years."

And it's hot and that water looks nice enough to walk around in the shallows. "Come on, boots off."

"The pools don't have sand," he answers back with a playful smile. Again Hawke's just being a brat.

Hawke stays where his as she moves closer to the water. His smile only grows when he catches on to what she's doing. A moment later he follows her to the water's edge. "I think we've earned a day to ourselves too."

Then he follows her lead, removing his boots and dropping them near hers.

The moment her boots are off, Nilin gets to her feet and dusts herself off. She scrunches her toes in the said and shifts a little to bury her feet. As she does, Nilin shrugs off her jacket and drops it near her boots, then leans to roll the bottoms of her jeans up a little.

"It's our day off, Hawke." Nilin says with a smile. Even if it's just for an hour or so, it's about time they relax a little.

If nothing else convinces him to join her, her smile most definitely does. Hawke can't help but brighten when she smiles like that. Annoying as he can be at times, the man enjoys seeing those he's close to happy.

"Don't have to tell me twice." Though he's in no ways dressed for the beach Hawke follows her lead again. Any accessories with him are dropped near their boots and he rolls his pants up as far as they'll go. After a moment of thought, Hawke decides to toss the shirt too.

She doesn't wait for him, but Nilin keeps in range. Heading for the water, Nilin walks into it until the waves that crash in reach her knees at their highest. There's something relaxing about just being in the water like that.

Nilin chuckles to herself to glances back to Hawke only to pause. It's not the first time she's seen him without his shirt, but it's the first time he's been in good health and willingly without it. "Are you going to swim?"

Once he's done Hawke chases after her. When he hits the water he's a little surprised at how warm it is. Of course he's never really been in more tropical areas until now. Hawke's far more used to the cold than weather like this.

He's more than comfortable with her seeing him without his shirt, and not just because she's already seen him without it. To be honest, he feels a bit smug when he notices her pause as she looks at him. "As long as you're around to make sure I don't get dragged out to sea."
