Situation: Kyle is exploring.

[notdreaming]

"The city of Argo," she answered automatically. "On Krypton." If he even knew what that was. Well, it was worth a try, anyway.

[imaginate]

Krypton, like Superman. Which made her- 'Supergirl?'

[notdreaming]

Her smile faltered slightly. Another person who knew her. But surely not from her own universe. At least he didn't seem to know her well.

"Just Kara," she corrected, a touch sternly. She was no superhero.

[imaginate]

He'd said something wrong. The other one would have been fine with that name, and instinctively he tries to lighten the mood. 'Okay, Just Kara.'

[notdreaming]

Well now she felt awkward. They weren't exactly off to the best start, and so far all they had in common was flying.

"You must be from Earth." Clever deduction, Kara.

[imaginate]

'Yeah, I am - kinda.' She didn't seem to recognise the symbol or his codename, which was weird. Krypton was part of Guardian controlled space. He points to the logo of the Corps on his uniform. 'Do you recognise this?'

[notdreaming]

She frowned at it, then shook her head.

"No, I don't. What is it?"

[imaginate]

'It's - the Green Lantern Corps?' He looked at her quizzically. 'Krypton's in our part of the galaxy.' And then he felt guilty knowing how Tomar-Re must have felt not being able to prevent its fate, and bringing that up.

[notdreaming]

"So?" That didn't mean much of anything to her, and she didn't particularly like the look he was giving her.

[imaginate]

'Oh.. never mind then.' Rocky start, Rayner, take it easy. He waved at the rest of the sector around them. 'Do you live nearby here?'

[notdreaming]

"Everything is nearby here," she pointed out, only somewhat irritated at him. Mostly she was distrustful. He didn't know her personally, and he wasn't even from the same universe, but he knew of her. And he expected her to know of him.

"But no, I don't live in the Metal Sector."

[imaginate]

'Yeah, when we can leap tall buildings in a single bound, huh.' He cracked the joke before he even realised it and then tried not to feel embarrassed. She probably didn't even know what he meant. 'Where do you live?'

[notdreaming]

"Why..." she started, why would she have to leap? She was flying, wasn't she? But then her frown deepened.

"Why do you want to know?"

[imaginate]

He holds up both hands. 'Hey, it's okay if you don't want to tell me. I'm sorry about mixing you up with the Kara I know, that can't have been easy for you.'

[notdreaming]

"I'll accept your apology," she granted begrudgingly. "But I still have no reason to trust you, Green Lantern."

[imaginate]

His ring glowed and voila, he was holding a bouquet of roses with FOR KARA written on the note in English. 'Friends?' he added, with a smile.

[notdreaming]

She blinked at the bouquet. Flowers from Earth, she'd seen them before. And she'd often seem people exchanging them, so she assumed they were the flower of choice for gifts. But what did the note say?

"What does it say?"

'How did you do that' and 'what else can you make' were the next questions.

[imaginate]

'Oh.. uh--' He quickly changed the words to Kryptonian. Since they were a construct, that wasn't hard.

[notdreaming]

'For Kara'. Simple enough, and kind of sweet. But she gasped. How long had it been since she'd seen Kryptonian writing?

"How did you do that?"

[imaginate]

If she'd heard of the Corps, she would have known the rings could translate. But Kyle was still trying to lighten the atmosphere and get a laugh out of her at the very least for the all the discomfort he'd caused, so he offered a roguish smirk and said playfully, 'Trade secret.'

[notdreaming]

Kara couldn't help it. She smiled.

"Can you do it with other things? I've been trying to learn English, but it's hard because the letters are so different." The whole language was completely different, really, and she had no way to verbalize it properly.

[imaginate]

He brightened. Something was working. Good. He had to keep it working. 'Sure, have you got anyone to teach you?' Kyle Rayner, promoting peace and understanding between humans and Kryptonians. Who would have thought it. That had always been a job for Superman.

[notdreaming]

"There are two people, but only one of them can read Kryptonian. And neither of them have as much free time as I do," I added. If he could teach her to read English, then maybe he wasn't so bad.

She still wouldn't tell him where she lived, though.

[imaginate]

Hm. He hadn't found his battery anywhere which meant his ring was at risk of running out of power, but he wasn't one to turn down somebody who needed help. 'I can try?'

[notdreaming]

"That would be great!" She bounced inadvertently another inch or two up into the sky. With three people working on it she was bound to learn to read eventually.
