Characters: Kyle Rayner and you!
Date: Same day he arrives.
Location: All around Keeliai.
Situation: Kyle is exploring.

Note: I wrote in prose, but [action] is more than welcome, as are multiple threads. For reference, Kyle's current Lantern uniform looks like this.

His first, instinctive thought was damnit Hal and then he pushed it out of his mind: Hal was on Earth with his family and definitely not anywhere near the Spectre anymore. And Kyle... Kyle really didn’t need anything from Obi-Wan at the moment, except maybe a ticket out of here. He’d tried asking about leaving, and that had gone -- it had gone.

The fact that he’d seen a bright light just before landing in the ocean wasn’t doing much for his confidence either. Kyle considered the possibility that he really and truly might be dead. Being stupid enough to fly headlong into a nuclear explosion did that to you. That, or this was just another crazy Monitor stunt and he was trapped in a pocket dimension, overthinking everything as usual; nevertheless, he didn’t honestly want to consider the possibility that he might not have reached Jason in time. It was funny? No that wasn’t the word. Weird. It was weird, feeling sorry for the Red Hood, of all people. He remembered John’s face all too well when they’d talked about Yrra.

‘Good going Rayner,’ he muttered. ‘This only ever happens to you.’ He sighed. ‘Ring, can you find Donna Troy?’

'LOCATION UNKNOWN.'

‘Ray Palmer?’

'LOCATION UNKNOWN.'

He ran a hand through his hair. He was going to regret the next request, he knew it. ‘What about Jason Todd?’

'AFFIRMATIVE.'

‘Seriously?’ Okay that came out a little more relieved that he would have liked.

He looked outside again. The area was quite open, so he just made himself invisible until he was high enough to see the neighbourhood, after which he was a bright emerald streak in the sky. Kidnapping aside, it didn’t look too bad. Then again, Earth-51 had looked perfect too, and it had been just as quiet. Too quiet, to use the cliche.

They’d locked on to Kyle’s ring before, it was only a matter of time before it happened again. He’d find Jason and get them both out of here - wherever here was.

The rest of the Earth sector struck him as more John’s pace than his. He could just imagine his friend admiring the care that went into the construction around here, and those sculptures were really making Kyle wish he lived here too. He was still in costume, hovering low enough to catch some of the names on the shops.

Everything about this place rubbed him the wrong way. It was too much like Qward. His short tenure there was still fresh on his mind. Parallax was still fresh on his mind, and every time he thought about it he remembered the Oneiromancer, who told him he was surpass Hal because he knew fear and Hal didn’t. He scoffed at that, and he scoffed at the mental image of Donna asking him if he still had doubts. Hah. If only she knew what he’d seen. What he’d done.

Kyle closed his eyes, focusing on the image of his mother, and drifted a little.

He floated in between a few buildings, looking out at the sector. It was like New York, in a way, if New York had met Metropolis. Kyle was glad that part of his life was behind him. He didn’t think he could deal with the big city anymore - but it will still nice to look at from above.

If ever anyone decided to go live on Mogo, this was probably what they would have done. Kyle could even hear his fellow Corpsman declaring the weather for the day to be that of a beautiful summer, with plenty of sun and wind. He landed cautiously and ringed up some clothes for himself, a simple shirt and jeans - oh what the hell, why not add a cool jacket too - before wandering around.

He’d ring up a boat, but he’s in civvies, and anyway, he could fly. The shops were interesting - he wished they had things like these back on Oa. Lantern cultural exchange. Guy would be plastering ‘Mr. Sensitive’ labels on his back for weeks if he’d brought it up. He grinned involuntarily at the thought, and his smile faded a little as he looked upwards to the sky. They were all out there, and he was here, alone.

There was Jason, but it didn’t feel the same if he couldn’t just tap his ring and rag on Salaak a little.

He shoved his hands into his pockets, hunched his shoulders, and looked for the apartment building he’d been assigned to.
