Situation: Kyle is exploring.

"Yeah. And a bunch of people here definitely ain't dead."

Steve. Peggy. Natasha. Stark, even, since people came in from after him.

"Which makes it all the funnier for an after-life." For a certain value of funny.

[imaginate]

'Hey, it just means whatever's doing this has a sense of humour.' Kyle shrugged and offered a weak smile. 'Does anyone know what's going on? Besides the Emperor?'

"Yeah, well, I'd appreciate other manifestations of it more, then," but it was said almost lightly, more a grump than an actual complaint (for now).

Then Bucky's face turned more serious.

"Not verified. Though it's probable that the Commander of the law enforcement here might. Their actions seem... sufficiently coordinated that he either obeys blindly or knows the reasons to obey absolutely."

Bucky didn't know, either way, but he thought it a reasonable guess.

Kyle smiled at the complaint. He felt an odd kinship with Bucky. It was strange, but familiar, and he recognised the feeling as akin to meeting someone else in the Corps.

But when Bucky turns serious, so does he. 'Sounds like there's somebody powerful pulling the strings. If not the Emperor, then whatever the Emperor's brought us here to fight.'

He realised too late that he'd made the Kyle Rayner Green Lantern response rather than Kyle Rayner Nothing To See Here response.

Not that Bucky could tell the difference. Or knew what a Green Lantern was whatsoever. To him, this was another 'foreigner' stuck here, trying to figure out the situation. Which was good enough for the soldier.

"Now that's a cheery thought. We're all here and running to the whistle of the bad guy."

It wasn't cheery at all. It was, in fact, kind of worrying.

'I'm a cheery guy,' Kyle replied, in almost the same tone Bucky'd used. 'The locals aren't exactly forthcoming, you know?'

Bucky's lips twitched, then evened flat again.

"'m not sure if it's that they aren't forthcoming or genuinely don't know. Now, the Emperor and the Commander? Guess they are a different matter."

[imaginate]

'You don't say. Something about it being the Emperor's business.' A little sarcastic. He looks into the distance briefly. 'Wish we had a good reporter or two around here; they could do a lot in the truth to power department.' Not that Kyle wasn't the questioning type - goodness knew how many orders he'd disobeyed - but they'd been orders from an authority he trusted and respected. An authority he knew. When they hadn't been, at least he'd had people to back him up. Here? There was nobody to fill that role, which left him feeling more vulnerable.

"I think there's been mention of a newspaper, possibly stalled a bit because of the language thing. Mr. Kent and Ms. Lane are in change of that, unless I'm mistaken."

Kyle wished for reporters, right?

[imaginate]

'Cool, I'll get in touch with them.' He might be able to help in the language department, or so he thought, he hadn't tried giving the ring commands to translate the written language. And anyway it was nice to know Superman and Lois Lane were here. The way Bucky talked, it sounded like they were the good guys.

"Yeah? Good. Those are the reporters I know about, here, at least."

From what Bucky has seen, they are decent people, so, sure?

[imaginate]

'Anything else I should.. know about?'

[trainwrecked]

"Heh. Probably. There usually is. Anything else you wanna know about?"

[imaginate]

'Not right now, no. I think I've had enough weirdness for one day.'

[trainwrecked]

"Yeah." Bucky shrugs, looking out at the trees. "You get used to it. I mean, some things still catch me by surprised, but you get used to the day-to-day. People are adjustable, I guess."

[imaginate]

'You've got to adapt. Times change a little too suddenly, sometimes.' He thinks of all the suddenness in his own life. Everything hits him the same way his construct train hit Mongul - all at once. It was overwhelming.

Heavy, occasionally.

It wasn't too much, but there was something in the other man's face that was - not thinking of good things, probably.

"You all right, Kyle? Wanna catch a drink?"

[imaginate]

'Huh? Oh - I'm good. I was just. Thinking.' He nods at Bucky. 'I'll take you up on that drink sometime, if you're buying.'

"Think I can go with that." It's amused, and he nods. "Good day, then?"

[imaginate]

He waves, and starts to walk away. 'See you around.'
