Dick snorts. "Definitely not. He won't even join the team."

That's new. 'Seriously?' Wow, things were different in their world.

"He's warmed up to the idea, but he did call us the Junior Justice League at first."

Roy is very rude.

[imaginate]

'What do you call yourselves?' Junior Justice League was a mouthful, even if Roy had come up with it.

[hackingyoursensors]

Dick shrugs.

"We just call ourselves the Team. Not catchy, but it works."

Considering who's on the Team, actually trying to name it would be a neverending argument.

[imaginate]

'That sounds fine.' Coming from the guy who's part of a Corp that takes 'Green' and 'Lantern' extremely literally. 'So, what have I gotta know about Metal?'

"It's the city's hub for everything tech. There's nothing quite as advanced as what I have back home, but at least there is tech."

He considers.

"Gang violence is lower here than in fire, but random crimes-- muggings, assaults, et cetera-- are much more common."

[imaginate]

That at least meant the civilian population didn't have access to whatever it was that was bringing them here. Kyle inwardly heaves a sigh of relief.

'So that means there's always one of you hanging around here, huh?'

"Yeah, but it's a bit too soon to call it the birds' nest. Or the belfry."

[imaginate]

'Too bad there isn't a literal cave here, huh.'

[hackingyoursensors]

"Not that you know of."

He's joking. Probably.

[imaginate]

'Is that a challenge? It's not hard for me to find stuff with the ring, you know.' He's also joking. Probably. He figures Bruce has the place proofed against him.

Almost sing-song: "I wouldn't if I were you."

He could be messing with you. Or he could be serious.

Anyway.

"Let's see... oh, the only other thing about Metal is that you should be a little wary. Some of the locals are, uh, less than whelmed about us being here."

[imaginate]

Kyle brushes off the challenge. He doesn't really need to go looking for their super secret playhouse or whatever. At Robin's words, he has reason to pause. 'Less than whelmed? You mean not overwhelmed or underwhelmed?'

Clearly, that was the most important part of the sentence.

Dick grins, like Kyle is the first one to get it. (He's not, but very few people get it on the first try.)

"Exactly!"

[imaginate]

'So, how else have you butchered the English language?' This is followed by a smile that says I am your padawan; teach me all you know.

"Lesson number one: it's not butchering, it's reinventing. It's all about economizing."

Oh he will, young padawan.

'So, which other prefixes and suffixes and ixes are we going to drop for economy's sake?'

[hackingyoursensors]

"No, you don't just drop them. You repurpose them."

Geez, Kyle, keep up.

[imaginate]

'Fine, but you've gotta give me more to work with. You only said whelmed.' Keeping up with a Bat was hard. A Robin? Probably harder.

"Well like... wouldn't the opposite of 'denial' be 're-nial'?"

He may be about 90% serious.

[imaginate]

'And the opposite of disdain just be... dain?' Kyle can tell this one is going to be his favourite Bat (bird)?

"Now you're getting it."

Kyle is kind of the coolest GL he's met. Hal and John are cool in the badass GL way but Kyle is cool in a big brother kind of way.

[imaginate]

Kyle looked around - the wind was great - wondered what else he could repurpose. 'Oh, I've got another one. Disconcerted.'

"Nice. Already thought of that one, but nice."
