Situation: Tu Vishan begins to dive to the ocean floor and the city of Keeliai seems unbothered by the process. Bonfire funtimes are made available to all!

Yes, it's me.

[ She would stop glowing, but they're losing light and it's hard enough to see him as it is. ]

Are you alright?

[wintershepherd]

Yes... no. Yeah, I'm all right.

[ He speaks the words but they seem automatic, fretful as he's still looking around.. Jack starts to drift closer to her, but then holds off when he realizes that she is the source of the glowing and the wind is bring tendrils of warm air back to him. ]

How're you doing that--?

[notdreaming]

I just... am. [ Letting off energy is like letting out a breath she didn't know she was holding. ]

It's one of the powers I have under a yellow sun.

[wintershepherd]

[ Jack nodded, because maybe it was no different than he just was cold all the time, but in that same vein he flitted back from her just slightly. ]

You're warm, I can feel it.

I don't-- do you know what's going on?

[ He started to look up, caught himself, forced his gaze back down before it tightened that feeling in his chest again. ]

[notdreaming]

My energy comes from the sun. [ So, warm. Makes sense, right? ]

I don't know. But whatever it is we took the barrier with us. [ So she can't get back to the surface. ]

[wintershepherd]

[ Jack nods, quick and flighty, keeps moving so that even the wind isn't sure which way he wants to go. ]

Yeah. That's... good. Except for the water. How long do turtles usually stay underwater?

[notdreaming]

[ Kara raises an eyebrow. ]

Until I woke up here I didn't even know what a turtle was.

[ She did know that they swim, though! Just. Not much more than that. ]

[wintershepherd]

[ That seems to distract Jack long enough for him to give her a small, apologetic smile. ]

Sorry Kara. I just really -- really -- don't like this.

[notdreaming]

It's okay. [ She's scared too. But there has to be something they can do besides run around being scared. ]

What about everyone else? This must have caused a commotion on the shell.

[wintershepherd]

Most of the people I've been seeing are moving towards the city center, they have blankets and firewood. I guess it's starting to get cold.

[ He assumes; he doesn't feel it any more than she does. ]

[notdreaming]

It would, under the water and away from the sun... [ Speaking of which, how much longer is she going to be able to use her powers? ]

Maybe we can help them.

[wintershepherd]

[ Jack drew in a breath and closed his eyes for a moment, as though trying to center himself, then opened them again with a firm nod. ]

Yeah, you're right. There's got to be something we can do.

[notdreaming]

Come on.

[ She offers him her hand. He's obviously freaked out worse than she is. ]

We'll go together.

[wintershepherd]

[ Jack hesitates, but settles his hand into hers. His skin is bitter-sharp with cold, and the warmth of hers (even if it might not be excessive, just in contrast) makes his fingers start to tingle.

Then, trying to inject some humour back into the situation, he adds: ]

You never told me you could fly.

[notdreaming]

[ He feels cold. Cold enough that she suspects something is wrong, but it must be something to do with his powers. She can't think of any other explanation. She starts to drift downwards, pulling him with her. ]

You never told me you could fly either.

[wintershepherd]

[ He chuckles, letting her pull him back towards the shell. The wind buffets a little, almost jealously. ]

Guess we need to have a few more conversations then.

[notdreaming]

[ A distraction. That's exactly what they need. She turns and flies now with more purpose, tugging him lightly behind her. ]

We have plenty of time.

[wintershepherd]

[ He's not sure if she means now or just in general, but he'll ask a question anyway. ]

You said it was a power under a yellow sun. Do suns come in other colours?

[notdreaming]

[ Either way works. She doesn't mind answering as they drift down to the ground. ]

They do. As stars age they change in composition and color and density. The star that Krypton orbits, Rao, is red.

That sounds awesome. So is a yellow sun older or younger than a red sun?
