You do. You have the look of my people, honestly. You could pass for someone from one of our noble families, but for your eye color. Certainly a Servant of Naamah--
[She breaks off abruptly, and gives a smile. There are not many who would appreciate being compared to that, even if it is a compliment in her world.]
But no matter.
no subject
Naamah?
[ Inara is very curious about that. ]
That is a lovely name. Someone you know?
no subject
[Favrielle doesn't say more than that as well, not everyone is interested in the cultures, nor do many have the same appreciation for certain aspects of hers.]
The divine founders of my homeland.
[Okay, just that bit more.]
no subject
[ Inara sounds truly apologetic, really. ]
Divine?

In short, our country was founded by Elua, the son of Yeshua ben Yosef, and his companions, angels of God. It wasn't my intention to give a history lesson.
[Said in a way that she didn't want to burden Inara with it, not that she wasn't willing to speak of it.]
May I ask where it is you're from, if not my homeland?
no subject
[ she smiles - and it's a bit longing. ]
I was born on Sihnon. But recently I've been doing some traveling.
no subject
[She watches the fire a moment before turning back to Inara to follow up lightly:]
Have you been traveling for business or pleasure?
no subject
[ Inara smiles wryly. ]
Both, actually. The travel assisted in furthering my occupational endeavors, and I also wanted to see the universe. It worked out in both ways.
no subject
[She pauses, giving Inara a more considering look, curious with the faintest hint of hope.
It's enough to distract her from the fact that she's said she wanted to see the universe, not the world.]

I am what's called a Companion. I wonder...if you have such things where you are from.
no subject
It is quite possible that we do. They would be called Servants of Naamah in Terre d'Ange.
[Favrielle speaks the words without judgment, but rather as if she is grasping for the potential familiar commonality. Then, she hesitates.]
Those of other countries often call it somewhat else.
no subject
[ Inara smiles again, still coy and flirty and amused. ]
I…provide company, conversation and comfort to those who might desire such a thing from me. [ among other things... ]
I am paid well for my services.
no subject
[She smiles back, one as genuine as it is a product of training.]
I might have been a Servant of Naamah, if not for an unfortunate slip in the bath, though I was trained. That much we have in common.
[She doesn't gesture to the scar on her lip, it is plain on her face. More notable perhaps is the fact that for the first time, Favrielle gives her lie without the trace of bitterness that usually accompanies it.]
no subject
Ah, I see. [ though honestly - looks aren't always so important. usually. ] Did you enjoy your training, then? We are trained in many things, besides the obvious - Companions are very well educated women.
no subject
[Favrielle tilts her head.]
At Eglantine, they fostered our creativity and natural talents toward such ends, be it as a singer, dancer, tumbler, clothier, or anything else. There are a great many of us well taught in the lore and literature of other cultures as well.

It sounds very similar to how we were instructed. Multitudes of topics, but well versed in those we found most interesting. It would be dull for both parties, I'd think, to converse at length in something that one participant wasn't interested in.
no subject
While the origins of their services are similar in many ways, there are cultural differences that make it all the more fascinating to them both. The organization of houses in Terre d'Ange, the means with which a Companion chooses her patrons, and so forth.
Inara may not truly be D'Angeline, but she may as well be one in spirit for beauty, career, and regard for it.]
It's heartening to hear that such things are handled so well in places outside my home country.
