Situation: Tu Vishan begins to dive to the ocean floor and the city of Keeliai seems unbothered by the process. Bonfire funtimes are made available to all!

[She falls silent, leaning back a little. Expression neutral. Voice, noticeably softer than before.]

I wouldn't.

[The barest of nods, and a smile works its way back to his face, like it never left.] If you do want me to buy you ice cream every day, you only need to ask.

[After the not-so-subtle implications of what just occured, it takes Zatanna a little longer for hers to return.]

Like I started to say before: I already work in an ice cream store.

...though I guess that didn't stop Dick, now that I think about it.

Because you're worth it. [A wink. Lightening tense situations with humor is what Kyle does.]

[Okay, she'll crack a little at that.]

You sound like a shampoo commercial, you realize.

The last time I tried that someone said I sounded like a chocolate ad. Must be losing my touch.

Now you're just making me hungry.

[You said the "c" word, Kyle.]

Is there actually any chocolate here?

["Is there actually any chocolate here?" Really, now? Never doubt a teen girl's ability to locate a source of chocolate.]

Supergirl and I made it our first mission together to find out.

It was a great success.

[Kyle was counting on that.] So is there a chain or just the one shop?

There's one shop that specializes, but I've seen a few others carry chocolate-flavored whatever it is they serve here.

Come to think of it, I'm surprised nobody's tried to make s'mores down by the bonfires yet.

I'll go check them out. [Beat.] You know, when I get tired of being a walking pun.

[And they've come full circle.]

Good thing you know how to fly, then.

I'll let you take this round. [Beat. More seriously:] Try not to go near the barrier into the water if you can help it. There's nothing appealing out there.

[Also seriously]

Yeah, tell me about it.

I've already been, and nothing short of a major emergency could get me to go back out there. It was beyond creepy.

[He sighs.] Are you okay?

Yeah, I'm fine.

[Aside from being creeped out.]

It's just...there were bodies. Floating around. A lot of them.

Yeah. [Kyle's going to be sleeping so well tonight.] I guess that's the Emperor's business too.

I tried asking a few of the locals if they knew anything. They said it was kedan tradition to bury their dead at sea.

[She gave a shrug, with an expression that said she definitely wasn't buying it. There was way more to the story than that, she was certain.]

I don't buy it. I saw some that were definitely human. [As to how recent they were...]

[Her eyes widen; obviously, she hadn't.]

You did?

Yeah. [He runs a hand through his hair. He'd seen worse, but he hadn't been expecting that out there in the ocean, and in such quantities.] Not as many as kedan, but... [enough to worry.]

[Trying not to jump to conclusions, but her adrenaline was going as it was.]

Was it anyone...[A pause. Swallowing audibly.]...you recognized?

[The expression on his face is somewhere in between horror and sadness: what on earth happened to make her say that?] No... I don't think so.

[Nothing. Yet.]

[But her sixth sense was going off, and she couldn't shake the overwhelming bad feeling that something was going to happen. Things had been too quiet, and considering recent going-ons...]

I have to go.

I really need to find the others.

[Moreso out of personal reassurance that they were still okay.]
