Situation: Tu Vishan begins to dive to the ocean floor and the city of Keeliai seems unbothered by the process. Bonfire funtimes are made available to all!

Hopefully not long. [With a dry, rueful tone:] I can safely say I have never been riding on the back of a giant turtle when it decided to dive under the sea.

[Yeah, this whole thing is not going easy on him, and his hand tightens on his cider cup again.]

[ Inara chuckles lightly. ]

That is something I can agree with. It's...a new experience, certainly. One that I'd prefer not to repeat. [ unfortunately if it happens again and she's stuck here, well then. ]

Would you like more? [ she gestures to the cup he's about to break, brow raised. ]

[He looks down at the cup and only then seems to notice his hand. He wants to force it to relax, but that doesn't seem to be happening. There's too much about this situation that traps him in anxiety.]

No, thank you. [He at least managed to put it down, then quietly withdraws his hand to inside the blanket he has, where it can clench in peace.] I suppose you must forgive my state of dress; it seems I've neglected to acquire a coat, so far.

[ she watches him carefully, but doesn't try and dig any information out of him. ]

Only if you forgive mine.

[ Inara is impeccably dressed, as always, but it does show signs of wear. ]

A teaset I've acquired, but clothing, as of yet, isn't something I can afford. Not until I decide what to do about income.

My first public appearance was made looking rather bedraggled, to put it generously. Your sense puts mine to shame. [He's actually kindof almost smiling. It's not quite there, but close, like he doesn't really remember how to do it.]

[ Inara is definitely smiling, hands in her lap. ]

Well, I suppose those of us who immediately decide to sit in front of the screen subject ourselves to a bit of ridicule. My hair was still a bit damp.

It seemed more important to ensure that I had all the information I needed, rather than worrying about my clothing. I feared it was quite unsalvageable, but the woman who cleaned it can work miracles, it seems.

They certainly can. I never thought this dress would see the light of day again.
