Situation: Tu Vishan begins to dive to the ocean floor and the city of Keeliai seems unbothered by the process. Bonfire funtimes are made available to all!

[Mock dramatically:] Don't be too disappointed, but that doesn't exactly break my heart. I have no idea how you can stand listening to people talking stock and sharing hunting stories. Bor-ing.

Though growing out of having my hair ruffled is something I'm definitely looking forward to.

[He's not double-talking any longer. Well. Maybe a little. The idea of being Batman still worries him. Even if he doesn't turn out to be the Batman.]

[TINIEST SHRUG OF NO FUCKS GIVEN Bruce would never actually encourage someone to cheat on their spouse with him except Bekka but she had crazy sex pheromones but the 'playboy' image has served him well enough in the past that there's no point retiring it.]

[Dick bursts out laughing, though luckily no one is staring.

He knows full well Bruce is kidding (even if "playboy Bruce Wayne" isn't).]

That would explain it.

[Once his laughter is under control, his smile turns a little warmer.]

I guess I'll just have to give you a pass when it comes to hair-ruffling.

[cowled]

Hm. Somehow I don't think you could stop me either way.

[Dick makes him feel young enough to joke around. It's-- a strange feeling.]

That sounds suspiciously like a challenge.

[Meanwhile, this banter is totally normal for Dick. You know, when no one else is around and Serious Business is not afoot.]

I can't imagine why you'd think that way.

[SO AIRILY CONVERSATIONAL.]

[Said with just the right amount of neutrality so that people wouldn't assume the opposite.

But he's laughing inside.]

There are other kinds of challenges, Dick.

[Picking up the entire Swedish swim team...]

[Seriously. Dick's left more remarkably not-broken-hearted women in his wake than even Bruce at his finest. He's never quite worked out how he manages to stay friends with all of them.]

[He's trying to figure out if this is funny or awkward when his food comes. (Hint: he was leaning toward funny.) He'll just dig in then.]

[It doesn't always hurt to talk about his father, so he cocks his head and smiles a little.]

[There's a soft fondness in his double-talk now. Both of them are talking about their parents. Their biological parents.

It's nice, to be able to do it without angst hovering over them.]

Good to know this kind of thing gets passed down through the generations.

If you start saying it to Damian, he might object.

[This is extremely subtle parental permission to do it, of course.]

He objects to a lot of what I say. That's never stopped me.

[Oh he shall.]

Nor should it.

[Damian is the only Robin who's ever needed a Robin, and Dick's filled that capacity for two members of the biological Wayne line.]

Anyway, I think I'm quite finished here. Shall we?

Sure. [He stands and dusts crumbs off of his hands.]

Bruce just shakes his head in a wry sort of amusement, ruffles Dick's hair with one hand as he fishes money out of his billfold with the other, and away they go off the roof.]
