Situation: Tu Vishan continues swimming along the ocean floor after his monumental dive, but it turns out there are a whole bunch of undead that want in on the party!

[The doors might not have electronic, encrypted locks, but they're strong and solid, at least, and she gives him an appreciative nod as she checks back down the road to make sure it's clear for the moment.]

[ He clears the area before looking back at her. The jianshi are moments from rising again, and will probably test the doors that were just secured, but the people inside are safe, and that's what matters here. ]

I'm glad to see you can hold your own against these things. I've seen too many people out trying to fight them without being prepared.

[ Only a few, but...that was too many. ]

[Shepard grunts faintly, then squats down to catch her breath for a moment. Her limited supply of thermal clips means she's been tossing around a lot of biotic power. With her cybernetics, she's got a lot more endurance than the average human, but it's still wearing on her a little.]

People do what they can in bad situations. Does this happen often, here?

[bothbarrels]

Not that I've ever heard. Only been here for a couple of months, though.

[cmdreffingshepard]

A couple of months? What do you even know about this planet? [That's enough to get her to give him an incredulous look, just slightly. Seriously, stranded here two whole months?]

[bothbarrels]

[ He's still sweeping the area, ready to move at any moment. ]

I guess you didn't buy the whole talk about how it's a place between death and dreams.

[cmdreffingshepard]

I don't know what the hell to believe, but this looks like a new planet to me. I'm sick of being manipulated. [She says that last bit almost to herself, always keeping her back to the building with the civilians in it - facing down anything that might come at them.]

[bothbarrels]

Who knows what planet this is on. The part about it being a turtle is true, though. As strange as it sounds.

And so we're all just... stuck here? With an army of husks on the attack?

[bothbarrels]

[ It was a good thing they were both wearing armor. Otherwise he'd say this wasn't the place for this discussion. ]

People go back, so I hear.

[cmdreffingshepard]

How do they - [Of course, she won't get to answer that question, as another group of husks rounds the corner. Focusing her energy, she builds up for a biotic charge, shooting towards them at a blinding speed. A yell, and she smashes them against the wall with the blue-white glow of her biotics.]

[bothbarrels]

[ He immediately has his rifle to the ready, but finds he has nothing to do but watch her on backup as she handles the situation quite well on her own. ]

How do they go back? I'm still trying to get answers for myself.

[ It's not until after he answers her that he lowers his rifle a bit. ]

[cmdreffingshepard]

[It takes her a moment, as usual - the refractory period for one of her charges - before she is able to parse what he just said.]

And no way to contact anyone off-planet? At all?

[bothbarrels]

The consoles in the residences and the cafes seem to run a communications network that only reaches the others. Whether anyone has attempted to jury-rig one to extend to other sectors, I don't know.

Must not be any comm buoys nearby, then. Are we even still in the Milky Way? [That's mostly a rhetorical question - she can't imagine how she could've gotten out of the galaxy completely, except via Reaper somehow. And that's not something she's willing to contemplate. Not yet, at least.]

[bothbarrels]

As far as I know. I'm not entirely certain we're on the same physical plane as the one we're used to, though.

[cmdreffingshepard]

That sounds like a lot of otherworldly, philosophical crap that I don't have time for. [Her lips twist slightly with annoyance. She has a lot of patience, but after dying once, her patience for planes of existence is limited.]

[bothbarrels]

[ That amuses him slightly, but he doesn't show it. ]

Are you newly arrived?

Showed up yesterday. Still don't know how I - [She makes a little face, and shakes her head. Nevermind, not talking about that.] Why, do I look that much like a tourist?

[bothbarrels]

No, no. It's the questions you're asking. You don't really seem familiar with the situation, here.

[ They'd been enjoying a nice break in the waves of the creatures that tended to group together, but now he spots another handful of them rushing down a nearby side street. He glances at Shepard before heading to intercept them. ]

[She lets him take this one - her biotics are powerful, but they take it out of her if she uses them too much.]

Getting the sit-rep on the run is kind of old hat for me, though.

[bothbarrels]

[ In this case the kedan being pursued finds a way inside fairly quickly and North chooses not to waste his ammo. ]

Don't worry, I don't question your methods.

[cmdreffingshepard]

I'm not sure I'd call it a method. [She almost looks amused.] Circumstances seem to demand it a lot when I'm around.

[bothbarrels]

Same for any soldier. We've all had to make decisions on the fly.

Something the politicians never seem to get. [She throws another shock wave at a couple of incoming zombies, knocking them over.]
