[OPEN EVENT] Weekend Winter Wonderland
Characters: All?
Date: March 8th-11th
Location: All of Keeliai
Situation: It's been a stressful month thus far for a lot of people, but Jack is determined to Make All The Happy and decides he needs to get back to his wintery roots by giving the city a proper snowing.
Warnings/Rating: People high on snow glitter?
NOTES: Actionspam OR prose, whatever is preferred! (Settings were just easier to prose.) Make your own thread headers if none of these suit! ♥
Jack had spent the last three hours balanced motionlessly on the top of a flagpole, head tilted back as he listened to the wind and the sound of the city below. Where is Winter? it asked. I'm here! the spirit replied, but he knew it didn't mean his physical presence. He'd had too much on his mind and too much in his heart and in that sense he had indeed been absent these last few weeks.
Eyes closed and thoughtlessly trusting, he tipped forward into open air, letting the wind catch him and hurl him upward into the misty cloud cover that scudded across the stars tonight. At his touch they thickened, fat and pale grey against the indigo backdrop and Jack swirled them up, the motions so ingrained in him they felt just like breathing. In the small hours of the morning snowflakes began to fall on the sleeping city, specks at first but then quickly becoming heavier.
Now with a fresh canvas to work with, Jack was really in his element. He could never have done something like this back home, not anywhere in his world. It would have been too strange, too inexplicable, drawn too much attention. But here on the turtle, things were different. There wasn't really a semblance of normal and Jack poured his imagination and heart into the things he wanted most to share, and from the snow rose gleaming swirls of snow and blue light, forming things of exceptional detail and delight.
By the time the sun rose, a solid three feet of the snow had blanketed the city, glistening and crisp and Jack went rocketing down the streets, rapping on doors and windows to leave spirals of frost on every surface.
"Whooohoo! Snow day! Get up sleepyheads, everyone come out and play!"

... Damian has a fondness for kids...?
Though... his 'brother' didn't come too near, nor did Damian see anything particularly directed against him in the words. Vexing, yes. An attack... no.
He still kept light on his feet, just in case.
"Which part of what you know about me would suggest I'd be looking for fun?"
Vexing, because that word again. Something that was, simply, not for him. He didn't even understand it, or how it made sense in any logical way.
But, while his response was haughty, it was far less - dark and broody than their previous run-in. And he as up here, watching, learning, visible, instead of trying to hide in the shadows.
Let's hope he has a fondness for Tim *acting* like a kid.
Too soon to tell. Now he's just confuuused and weirded out...
But then.
Then.
He stared.
"I have done freefalling and parachute jumping, Drake. Why would sliding down a relatively short slope be of interest?"
For all the incredulity, there was also actual curiosity, though. He'd been looking for plenty long enough to know that the exercise itself did not present any dangers that he couldn't deal with. So... why was Drake suggesting it?!
That is a totally reasonable reaction. Tim will react similarly when he sobers up.
*snorts* trouble is when these two agree.
No, really, the last time Drake smiled at him was - before Damian first hit him.
"One day," he muttered, "somebody is going to be able to explain to me about everybody's ideas of fun in a way that makes any amount of sense." Today, he suspected, was not that day.
He sighed, and looked up at Drake.
"What is one supposed to do?"
I think it would happen more if they ever... talked. Without hostility.
Instead he motioned to one of the sleds. "Hop on. I'll give you a push."
Sloooowly getting there.
But, despite the bluster and the threat, he - actually stepped towards the sled... and then sat on it. With a furtive glance down at others who were sledding, he settled his feet up and held on to the edges of the thing.
As awkwardly as somebody with his kind of control over his body could get.
Someday. (And I am so sorry)
It was Damian's first time on a sled. He didn't know anything about slowing down or bailing out if it looked like you were headed for a tree.
Yesss. (... Man, Dick would be doing somersaults if he could see them now. of GLEE.)
Plus side? Damian wasn't trying to get him off the sled. Minus? He was less than amused.
... and then the slope dropped, making them pick up speed, and Damian focused on ahead again. Because, no, it wasn't like parachute jumping at all, but it was... well. Bumpier, for one thing.
Damian gripped the edge of the sled and tried navigating it around some of the bigger bumps with his heels. Which, of course, had a greater effect than he initially expected, so they swerved a lot more than he meant, almost ending up perpendicular to the slope. And sliding sideways.
(Best that he can't. They'd have to start bickering again on principle.)
(Stop it with the logic!)
But, even as he yelled, he was slowly figuring it out. How deep to dig his heels into the snow. How to shift his balance to aid or moderate what he was doing.
Not immediately, but little by little.
(I CAN'T.)
Not that there were a lot of trees around here but there was a very slim chance he could try it somewhere else where there were.
(and then I laugh, because tag.)
That said... he was focusing more on the sledding, because he was learning and it was getting - interesting to him. Slowly.
... too slowly, because the slope wasn't infinite.
(ikr? I looked at that too and just... yeah.)
Tim rolled off into the snow and stood, brushing snow out of his hair and grinning.
"Want to go again?"
(*snickers*)
And then Damian caught himself, blinking at his own enthusiasm. But it was a little like flying the rooftops, and a little like driving a motorcycle, and a little like nothing else at all, and. It felt pleasant, for a little while.
"... I mean, I suppose so."
Re: (*snickers*)
"Let's go, then!"
I'm so sorry for this tag.
"Drake. Grayson's expressions look out of place on your face."
I was pretty sorry for the last one. ;)
"I'll try to keep my enthusiasm to a minimum."
AWWW!
"Appreciated."
Beat, though he had to admit, "this sledding is not... as boring as I expected."

Tim gave him a sidelong grin--stopping a little short of the wide beaming one he'd given him before. "Yeah? You should try skiing sometime."
