[OPEN EVENT] Weekend Winter Wonderland

Situation: It's been a stressful month thus far for a lot of people, but Jack is determined to Make All The Happy and decides he needs to get back to his wintery roots by giving the city a proper snowing.

Jack had spent the last three hours balanced motionlessly on the top of a flagpole, head tilted back as he listened to the wind and the sound of the city below. Where is Winter? it asked. I'm here! the spirit replied, but he knew it didn't mean his physical presence. He'd had too much on his mind and too much in his heart and in that sense he had indeed been absent these last few weeks.

Eyes closed and thoughtlessly trusting, he tipped forward into open air, letting the wind catch him and hurl him upward into the misty cloud cover that scudded across the stars tonight. At his touch they thickened, fat and pale grey against the indigo backdrop and Jack swirled them up, the motions so ingrained in him they felt just like breathing. In the small hours of the morning snowflakes began to fall on the sleeping city, specks at first but then quickly becoming heavier.

Now with a fresh canvas to work with, Jack was really in his element. He could never have done something like this back home, not anywhere in his world. It would have been too strange, too inexplicable, drawn too much attention. But here on the turtle, things were different. There wasn't really a semblance of normal and Jack poured his imagination and heart into the things he wanted most to share, and from the snow rose gleaming swirls of snow and blue light, forming things of exceptional detail and delight.

By the time the sun rose, a solid three feet of the snow had blanketed the city, glistening and crisp and Jack went rocketing down the streets, rapping on doors and windows to leave spirals of frost on every surface.

"Whooohoo! Snow day! Get up sleepyheads, everyone come out and play!"

Santo knows that Victor doesn't do well in the cold, and he wasn't going to let Vic get too cold or anything. He didn't even really have a snowball ready for Vic's junk. He just wanted to spend time with his best friend outside of their suites, since they hadn't done anything since Santo was arrested.

"You need to listen, dude. We don't have to roll in the snow, I wouldn't expect you to freeze your balls off," He puts his arm around Victor's shoulders, pulling him into a loose, side-hug. "Let's just go to a cafe and get some tea or something."

Victor just gives Santo one of the 'please stop talking about my junk' looks he's given him before. He lets himself be pulled into the hug and nods.

"Alright, let's get something warm."

And Santo gives Victo one of his typical 'I'll never stop talking about your junk' looks. He smiles a little though, feeling better now that things weren't so weird (and because he's getting what he wanted in the first place... As always).

"Hot chocolate, fire place, watch the snow fall?" He suggests. "We can talk about feelings and junk."

"That all sounds good except the snow part," Victor replies somewhat predictably. "Feelings are fine but I didn't think you'd want to talk about junk with me," Victor jokes.

"Watching it from the inside of the cafe? I'll keep you warm, ya big baby," He teases. "Who said I did want to talk about junk with you? I just figure you think about junk a lot, and since you're my best friend, I'm willing to make the sacrifice and talk about junk with you."

That teasing earns Santo a punch. "You can watch it," he says. There's then a groan from Victor. "No, just no. Not having that discussion with you even if I did think about junk a lot. Which I don't."

Santo takes the punch with a laugh, just pulling the green mutant closer to his side before lifting him up to his usual perch on Santo's shoulders. He'd never admit it, but having Victor up there was comforting to him. As if it was as close to home and normal as they could get. "Come on, dude, surely there's some junk that's been on your mind more than others. You gotta fill me in."

Victor lets out a startled little noise as he's picked up but he doesn't resist. He just wasn't expecting to be picked up. Giving Santo's head a light punch, Victor sighs. "I prefer to think more about the guys attached, thanks."

Santo just laughs more at the punch to his head, but he doesn't mind it. He just walks over to his room real quick and grabs his hoodie, tossing it over Vic so he'll have even less of a reason to complain once they get outside. "Okay, then talk to me about the guys attached. You gotta help me out here if I'm going to hook you up."

Victor stays silent, just patting Santo's shoulder in thanks for the oversized hoodie. "I haven't really been looking, Santo. After the what happened with nearly asking Speed out," he shrugs. He doesn't want to deal with that sort of thing happening again.

Santo just sighs as they walk outside. Thankfully, even with all the snow, it wasn't that cold. It was just a little bit chilly... Or at least that's what Santo thought. "Well... That's okay too. It's not like I've been looking that much either," It's hopefully implied he's not talking about junk still. "You can't be that lonely, right? I mean, come on, you've got me here!"

Vic shifts a little on Santo's shoulder as soon as they get outside. He thinks it is too cold but he's not bringing it up again. "Who said I was lonely?" he asks. "And I still think you should ask out Kara."

It wasn't that cold, and at least Victor could hide under Santo's huge hoodie, which he'd even had washed for once. "Really, Vic? Come on, when was the last time you got laid?" He nudges Victor. "This isn't about me right now."

Victor is hiding in the hoodie, alright. Of course the question gets his cheeks tinting slightly darker green as he gives Santo another punch to the head. "Dude, that is so not the same thing as being lonely!" he says, a bit flustered.

"That is totally the same thing as being lonely," He laughs, walking quickly to the cafe just so that Victor doesn't have to stay out in the cold too long. "That isn't really what I wanted to talk to you about now though. Not that I ever want to talk about your sex needs... Obviously."

"It so isn't," Victor mutters. He ducks when they enter the cafe, looking around. "Then let's change the subject, please."

"So is," Santo replies again anyway, catching the mutter.

Once they're in the cafe, Santo heads straight to the back, finding a couch that's big enough for him to sit on with just enough room for Vic to squeeze in too. It's also next to a fire roaring in the fireplace, which is why he chose it at all for Victor. "I never really talked to about what happened at the prison, did I?"

Victor just shoots Santo a look.

When they get to the couch, Victor drops down into his seat. The green mutant takes a moment to just enjoy the fire before turning a concerned look Santo's way. "No, you didn't," he replies. He wants to know but he also doesn't want to push his friend if the experience was worse than he imagined.

It wasn't that Santo was trying to hide things from Victor or anything, he just didn't want to worry his best friend or anything with something that he didn't even understand fully himself. He's talked about it with a couple other people now though, and he can't just leave his partner out of the loop.

"I was going to be executed," He says simply.

If Victor had been drinking anything, he probably would have ended up spraying it over the cafe at that simple statement. His attention snaps from the fire to Santo and Victor stares.

"What?"

"Yeah. The group that I was stuck with in prison. The Emperor wanted to execute us as, I don't know, a warning or something to the people the disobey her."

"I knew she was dumb but..." Victor trails off. His opinion of the Emperor has hit an all time low. Vic does not tolerate people trying to kill his best friend. "How did you get out of there?"

"No, she's totally dumb. I mean, come on. Like beheading me would even do anything," He laughs a little, nudging Victor to try to lighten the mood, but he knows that if she wanted to, she probably could, considering what else he'd learned.

"I still don't really know, man. This girl, Eva... She pulled a Shadowcat and just... Pulled me out of the prison, through the walls and everything."

Victor just shoots Santo a look. "You don't know what freaky stuff they have. If they can restrain your powers," he's assuming they did since Santo didn't just bust out. "then they probably have ways to hurt you or kill you."

"Wait, she got you out? And she had powers that were working?"

Santo knew about the power dampeners in the prison, so it was something he'd thought about, but that didn't mean he liked to worry about such a thing. In fact, he really tried not to think about it. It was easier for himself and others to think he was invulnerable.

"Yeah, but I don't think that makes her special or anything. Whatever was wrong with the turtle was affecting the prison too. Our powers were working sometimes too."
