[When you have spent literally over half your life at a camp for training demigods how not to die in the mortal world, it's really not all that surprising that Annabeth is bad at normal nine times out of ten. There's just usually other things she'd rather be doing. Like poking at her laptop. Reading a book. Knife practice (not that she isn't already good, but it never hurts to spar, and she very much enjoys the 10:2 ratio of victory over Percy right now). Research of any or all kind, and she hasn't stopped drawing buildings even here.]

[So please ladies. Come to her suite, knock on her door, and kidnap her away for shenanigans and girl times, and don't take no for an answer!!]

We can sit. [Even on the ground is ok she don't mind; she sort of glances downward to show that, after she cases the area for potential seats.] Though I don't mind if you want to test the floating thing, too.

[Sure enough, she claims a spot of grass not too long after, placing the cards directly in front of her before waving a single hand over them.]

[With a faint gust of wind, the cards come to life, swirling around until they've managed to arrange themselves in a particular pattern.]

Just touch one to flip it over.

[She sits easily and watches with curiosity as Zatanna works her magic, literally.]

[Annabeth considers for a moment, then reaches for one towards the middle to flip as instructed.]

[As soon as her finger barely grazes the surface, the card flips over to reveal...The Hermit]

[Zatanna doesn't even bother hiding her smirk when she catches sight of it.]

Talk about a double-meaning.

This card is supposed to represent your current state. Do I really need to go into an explanation, or do you get the picture?

[Annabeth actually groans.] I thought these things were supposed to be all mysterious and vague till they come to light?

[It's hard not to look and feel smug when the absolute perfect card appears like that.]

Hey, take it up with the mystical forces.

Besides, you're looking for answers, right? So don't complain when you get the obviously right ones.

[She rolls her eyes.] I'll add it to the list. [Seriously she's got several bones to pick with the mystical forces.]

I'm not an actual hermit.

[Hey, you're the one who wanted interpretation over literal meaning.]

Because you're the one who had to drag me out of my room and away from my boyfriend just long enough to remember there's an outside world.

[She rolls her eyes, but reaches out to touch and flip a second card, one on the left.]

[The only card to the left of center is flipped over, revealing the Queen of Sword. Of course, with this particular deck, the Queen appears as a lovely woman sitting before a tapestry loon, weaving.]

The Queen of Swords, face up. You will face a series of great challenges in your immediate future that will require not only a sharp mind, but a clear one as well.

Of course, since it's you, I think it's safe to say you'll be up for the challenge.

[She recognizes at supposedly her mother, even if the picture is off - but given the whole deck, she's not surprised.]

[Though she frowns for a moment over the prediction, especially in light of it coming off a card of Athena, and her brain shifts towards Tartarus. At least until she reminds herself of the 'immediate future,' which - if this reading is supposed to be accurate, probably means more for the turtle.]

[Either way, the warning is basically standard to her life. She sighs, half a wry grin on her face.] Tell me something I don't know.

[That was had the beauty of Fortune Telling; the predictions were just fluid enough that...really...it could mean either one.]

Is that a hint of verification in your voice I'm hearing?

Depends on how immediate of a future you're talking about. But 'series of challenges' is basically standard in being a demigod.

First, you complain that I'm being too specific. Then, you complain I'm not being specific enough. Make up your mind already.

[She doesn't seem too put out by it, though. Her hand idly drifts over the cards, and they start spinning mid-air]

Immediate Future...oh, I don't know, let's say four to six weeks, max. That work for you?

Guess it depends on what the turtle has in mind for us then. Unless we all end up going home soon. [Then yes, immediate danger and challenges is more than applicable.]

[But she rolls her eyes, pushing that thought away, and pointing at a third card, towards the top.]

[And it flips over to reveal...a reversed Knight of Pentacles. Which, in this instance, takes on the form of a Trojan Horse.]

This card represents the best possible outcome for you, if you continue on the path you're on right now.

[She smirks a little when she catches a glimpse of the wooden horse. Oh, the innuendos she could make...]

Usually, it would symbolize a consistency in routine, or a conservative methods to your approach. but since our little horsey friend is upside-down...it basically means you're going to end up stuck. Trapped. Either in a rut...or, knowing this place, possibly literally.

Best possible outcome could still end up pretty awful. [...look she's cynical after thinking of Tartarus two seconds ago, okay?]

[Especially because trapped and stuck just conjures more thoughts of Tartarus, as much as it's very likely just inferring to life on the turtle.]

So, I'll be stuck somewhere, but the end results will end up the best they can? Does being here count as stuck?

But if that were the case, the card would've come up in a different section of the spread. So this is definitely referring to something that hasn't happened yet, but will.
