[When you have spent literally over half your life at a camp for training demigods how not to die in the mortal world, it's really not all that surprising that Annabeth is bad at normal nine times out of ten. There's just usually other things she'd rather be doing. Like poking at her laptop. Reading a book. Knife practice (not that she isn't already good, but it never hurts to spar, and she very much enjoys the 10:2 ratio of victory over Percy right now). Research of any or all kind, and she hasn't stopped drawing buildings even here.]

[So please ladies. Come to her suite, knock on her door, and kidnap her away for shenanigans and girl times, and don't take no for an answer!!]

[ Soranik is a woman on a mission, sort of - she's been wandering around Metal looking for supplies for Leo and placing orders for the raw materials he may or may not need. She'd learned her lesson last time, and has them arranged to be delivered - ring or no ring.

It's near the end of the day that she catches a glimpse of a familiar face - and while Soranik isn't one for social chatting on a regular basis, simply wishes to check to see if Leo will remain... how he is. ]

Annabeth.

[She looks up immediately when hearing her name, and her face brightens a little when she recognizes the voice and face as Soranik.]

Hey. What brings you to Metal?

I have recently been introduced to Leo.

[ Which Soranik thinks is a good enough explanation as any for both counts. ]

[sophos]

[The look on Annabeth's face is kind of amused, and she almost snorts.] I'd ask how that went, but really, you don't even need to tell me.

He asked to take apart my ring. Not that he could have done so in the first place.

[ HE ASKED TO DISASSEMBLE HER RING. ]

[sophos]

[...she does actually snort. Because that's not surprising in the slightest.] Impossible to disassemble? [Because he could put it back together, otherwise.]

Yes, and I would not wish to find out what would happen to him if he tried.

[ Her power battery would take out most, if not all of the turtle. But the ring is smaller - localizing the blast. Soranik doesn't know the exact details of what would occur but she knows it wouldn't be pretty. ]

[sophos]

[She's about to respond that Leo's more durable when it comes to explosions than he lets on, but his fire resistance isn't her secret to share. Not to mention she has no idea what the actual result of taking apart the ring would be.]

You basically just need to get past first impressions, because once he gets started on something mechanical, the flirtatious bravado's shoved aside.

I had noticed that mentions of building something quickly became his priority instead of being called 'Mr. Hotstuff'.

[ That was a thing that happened. ]

Oh, gods, you got Mr. Hotstuff? I'm so sorry. [Though she's grinning all the same. For a long time, the first impression Annabeth gave off to Leo was enough to ward off any of the stupidity - though he seemed to be moving a little past that now. Much to her dismay.]

I got the impression that constantly putting him down will not alleviate the problem if we move on from a subject other than engineering.

I think it kind of fuels him, to be honest. Fortunately I've never had to deal with the whole flirting thing from him myself.

Something, I think, you should be thankful for. He is terrible at it.

[ Soranik, you've got a massive crush on Kyle Rayner you are not one to talk about people being terrible at flirting . ]

I've seen it enough to know that much. I probably didn't leave the greatest first impression on him either, though I guess it helped ward off any flirting.

[Annabeth's version of flirting is beating the other person up soooo.]

Advice would be nice, if you had any. Most who tried before simply got the message when I made it clear I wasn't interested.

[ PERSISTENCE IS WEIRD. ]

I scared him, I think. [Apparently charging at people with a death glare is terrifying.] But in general - Ignore it? Though sometimes that doesn't really stop him either. Distraction's probably your best bet.

If only I had the foresight to do the same. [ Sora you are 5'6" babyfaced surgeon. The only way you scare people is when they piss you off or are being an uncooperative patient. ] I will keep that in mind for the future.

He's probably one of the most ADHD demigods out there, so believe me, distraction's not hard.

[Oh. Right. Conversations!!] I'm okay. I've been out of the suite a surprising amount lately. You? [That was legit, right???]

Work, mostly. Lantern Gardner's arrival has freed up the time spent in HQ, but there is still the clinic to run.

[ WHOOPS OKAY WHAT NOW. ]

Do you get a lot of people in? [She's kind of wondering about rate of injury here.]

A fair few - kedan and other. Enough to keep myself busy at any rate.

[sophos]

Business is business, I guess. But it must mean something if the kedan trust you enough with their health issues.

So long as I am helping others I have no complaint. ( it's not hyperbole. ) I am glad that they do - that trust is invaluable.

[sophos]

[She can tell, and Annabeth's a little impressed by it tbh.] I mean especially now, too, with the tensions as they are. It's a good sign, I think.

As do I. Some, I think, are still suspicious in terms of the use of my ring, but I can only hope in time they accept it.

( it's not so different from Korugar - where she won the hearts of her people purely by healing people. but Soranik doesn't mention that. Instead-- )

Do you miss your world? I know that circumstances may influence you one way or another, and you need not answer if you don't want to - I'm simply curious.

( mostly because Soranik misses Korugar with every moment she's here, misses Oa, misses the sprawling stars and planets of the universe, misses everything. )
