Location: Outside the city
Situation: The X-Dudes are going camping! It's been a while since they've spent some quality time together, and there's a lot to catch up on.

It felt like it had been weeks since Santo had just sat down and had any bro time with Victor. Not that they always had to spend time together, but things had just been busy and tense lately, and Santo had spent so much time trying to keep at least one job to earn enough money for them, that it really started to seem like he only saw his best friend in the mornings when he left to go work more and in the evenings when he'd pretty much crash onto his bed right away.

If it didn't seem like that already, it became obvious when Santo found out that he was practically the last person to know that Victor had a boyfriend now.

So, leaving the city for a few days to try and find more solid stone that he could build his body out of just seemed like a good excuse to go camping and reconnect. Santo hadn't found anything much better than what he already had yet, but he was losing mass through general wear and tear, so he needed to build himself a new body. He wasn't that concerned though. Santo was more interested in camping out right now, poking at the small fire they'd built before pulling out the sack with the rations he'd saved for this.

"So... Do you want to tell me what's been going on now? Kind of feels like we haven't said more than a four words to each other lately," He shrugs, taking a piece of bread before passing a much larger one over to Victor.

And it only figures that Santo's luck with choosing his words can only last so long. "Do you honestly want me to answer that question? I can go through the list of guys you've been into if that helps."

He finishes his snack as well, reaching into the bag again to pull out an apple, handing it over to Victor. "Yeah, I do. If you're gonna be dating him, then I need to know that he's good enough for you."

Vic frowns. "For the millionth time, I was never into Northstar," he groans, rolling his eyes.

Victor catches the apple and shakes his head before tossing it back. He's fine for now when it comes to food. "Alright, I guess. Just...don't scare him off or anything."

"Who said anything about Northstar? Wait, was Northstar an asshole too?"

Santo takes the apple, looking at it for a moment since he really is still hungry, but he puts it away. Really, he's a bit surprised that Victor is letting him look into the guy. "How would I scare him off, dude? I'm like the nicest guy ever."

"You mean you didn't think he was one?" Victor quirked a brow. "Or hear what Julian had to say about him?"

The green mutant just gives Santo a flat look at that statement.

"Dude, I didn't really pay attention. Just about every teacher we've ever had came with excessive levels of douche," He shrugs. "I was actually referring to Julian... Or Tommy... Or just about any of the others," He nudges Victor though, obviously just playing.

He's happy for his best friend really. He wants Victor to be happy, and he knows that the lizard mutant has been needing something like for a while now. "I won't break him, dude. Promise. I just want to know him too, since I have to share you with him now... And make sure he's not going to hurt you."

"And that's why your grades suck," Victor teases a little. "Who told you about Ju-" Victor stops himself, cheeks going a darker shade of green. "I'm not only into guys like that, Santo. There have been others..."

"You'd better not break him," he says, nudging Santo. "He won't hurt me."

"I know, dude, and I also don't need to know there are others," He laughs a little. "I already know you're getting more than I ever am," He teases.

Santo sighs eventually though, poking the fire a little with his hand to stoke the flames. "I'm not going to break him," He repeats again. "I just want to make sure of that myself first. It's my job to look out for you."

"Oh, so you don't want to know how I had a crush on Johnny Storm or Hulkling?" Victor teases back. "And I haven't...gotten any in awhile, Santo. Like before Utopia..."

"Your job to look out for me? Okay, Mom," he teases with a bit of affection in his voice.

"Pft, like those were even secrets, dude. Try to think of one that would actually surprise me," He laughs, nudging Victor a little. "And hey, that's still not as long as it's been for me."

Rolling his eyes, Santo puts the food away and starts to make himself comfortable, pulling out some blankets and stuff in case it gets cold outside the city. "If I didn't look out for you, then you'd be so screwed here. You're so lucky to have me."

"If it's a secret one, why would I reveal it?" Vic asks, giving Santo a friendly little shove.

"I think you might have that backwards, Santo," Victor stretches out as he speaks. "You'd be screwed without me here watching your back."

"If I already know about them, then they don't really count as ones that I don't want to know about."

Santo shrugs. "Nah, you'd make it maybe three days without me tops."

"Yeah well, I wasn't aware you wanted to know about any of them."

Vic arches a brow. "I did pretty well for awhile on my own. And you were the one that kept calling me and trying to get me to leave Fairbury after Frost and Summers kicked us all out."

"Nope, just the ones that I have to worried about walking in on you making out with."

Santo sits up a little, turning to look at Victor. "It wasn't like I missed you or anything. Blindfold saw it that way, and going against what she sees is like asking for death," That may or may not be a lie, and he may have actually missed Victor before they were really bros.

"So you're going to like, put a sock on the door or something when you and Wally get busy, right?"

"Then you should have been worried about Paras and Ben," Victor jokes, just to see Santo's reaction.

A brow is then arched. "Uh huh. So Ruth predicted that you had to keep calling me?"

"We haven't," Vic rubs the back of his neck. "If we do it at my place, then yes. We'll try to keep...that to his suite though," mostly so Santo doesn't have to hear/chance walking in on it.

That definitely gets Santo's attention, and he looks over at Victor, raising a brow. "Whoa, seriously?

"And no she didn't, but when she says you're supposed to be on the team, the sooner you get your butt on it, the sooner we don't have another crisis."

Santo is pretty relieved to hear that. He definitely doesn't want to walk in on Victor and his boyfriend going at it, and Victor definitely doesn't want him to be scarred for life. "You already told me you haven't. I believed you, bro."

Victor ends up laughing. "Despite joking with him a few times, no I was not into Ben. At least not that way. And Paras isn't my type."

His laughter does fade though. "She really predicted I was supposed to be on the that team with you and Sooraya sooner?" he asks, frowning.

"Good. So, no need to worry about seeing anything...like that."

"Jeez, man..." He rubs the back of his neck. "Were Julian and I seriously the only straight guys at the school?" Because maybe he has the wrong idea, but this is all news to him.

His expression falls a little too, and he sighs as he puts his arm over his eyes. "Who knows with her. She's always cryptic about everything. What does it matter? You eventually got on board like you should have been all along, and it worked out okay I guess..." Except for all of the bad stuff.

Vic just gives Santo a look. "...you do know that all the guys but me and Jonas were straight, right?" at least after M-Day.

"I know I joined up once Dani found me but..." Victor looks away from Santo before he goes on. "if I came back sooner. Maybe...maybe Nick wouldn't have..." no he's not going to finish.

"Yeah, totally... At least that's what they say," Santo teases.

It doesn't last long though, especially now that Victor has gone and said what he just did. He can't believe that Victor would even bring something like this up. "What the hell, Victor!?" He almost shouts, looking over at his best friend. "Do you really think that Nick would have been okay if you had been there? You don't get to feel that way," Though now the idea is in Santo's head, and he can't help thinking about it...

"I don't know, Santo," Victor snaps back. "But if ignoring Ruth's predictions leads to disaster and she predicted that I was supposed to be there then maybe things would have been different."

Santo clenches his fists, feeling like he could punch Victor right now and it wouldn't be a joke. He'd spent so long feeling about Nicky dying in his arms. He still hasn't completely gotten over it, and he'd have to live for the rest of his life knowing that his friend was dead because he was too stupid to realize that he was being played... And Victor was trying to take that away from him now.

"Shut up," He murmurs, tensing up for a moment before putting his hand on Victor's shoulder, holding onto him because if he didn't then he'd do something worse... That he didn't want to do. "What happened... It happened, and that's all it is. It was all on that bastard Pierce."

Victor didn't think he was trying to take anything away. He just wondered if things could have gone differently if he didn't spend so long avoiding his friends and the X-men. And once Santo told him about what Ruth may have seen, the thoughts came back.

He glances up at Santo when that hand falls onto his shoulder and scowls. "That cyborg jackass..." he trails off, tossing a stick into the fire.

"That cyborg jackass..." Santo murmurs, eventually releasing Victor and turning back to the fire, sitting up and putting his arms around his legs. "It's all his fault, so don't say stupid shit like that again."

Victor mimics the pose, resting his chin on his knees. "Summers and Frost's fault too," he mutters. "For making us all split up like that and abandoning us."

"Yeah, that one's obvious, though. Everything that happens to us is their fault," He replies, eventually relaxing again and nudging Victor lightly. "Let's talk about something else, man. We're out here on vacation, and this is just depressing."
