Characters: Any and all!
Date: May 22 - 26, 2013
Location: Keeliai, turtleside, ARSHEPHELIOS cluster remains
Situation: The fires are put out and repairs around the city have begun. With life preserved, eyes turn now to what exactly crashed down into the ocean.
Warnings/Rating: Please put CW in your subject lines

Satellite Crash Event

Crash Landing | Salvage Party | Shocking Spectres

Questions | Keeliai | Repairs | Salvage | Other | Oceanside | Shellside | ARSHEPHELIOS-side | Coralside

The majority of fires are reported as under control and repair crews start forming up to bring Keeliai back to her pre-scorched splendour. This is all well and good, but there remains a cluster of debris that crashed into the ocean drawing the attention of salvagers and Foreigners alike. Boats and teams form up and head up to scour the ocean, where the cluster rests upon an expansive and ancient coral formation and can be reached within ten metres of the surface.

Yeah, the basic concept is best. Most people just seem to want that anyway.

[Shaking her head once Korra gives a friendly smile.] Nope, I’m good. I’ve got food at home and I still have this stuff to look through later. I could get it down for you if you want?

[Leaving someone to climb to the top of a building just so they could try to dislodge it and then have to climb back down while carrying it seemed a bit too harsh to Korra.]

[At one of those points, Combeferre is watching him with something very much akin to excitement. He'd gotten used to the consoles and all, but music from a box? That was pretty damn awesome, in his opinion, and he cannot help but give Dorian a wave and head over.]

What have you got there, Dorian?

[Temeraire is very hard to miss, as is the sparking piece of machinery. So what's a (sort of) mad scientist to do except run over and poke at it?]

Hallo, Temeraire!

"Yes. I imagine it would be."

He still dislikes it. It is truly the very least of what they could do.

Lyall has to agree, though little of his displeasure with the situation shows. He pats James's shoulder lightly, then looks beyond him, his hazel eyes shifting to lupine yellow in the dusk. "There's a living one over there. Come on."

That's Steph. [He sips at his cup.] She kissed Rikki and Bucky - he's Rikki's grandfather, sort of. And I asked her if she was going to try kissing Peggy and get the whole set, since she's Rikki's grandmother. Sort of.

[He huffs in amusement.] Other universes. Anyway, she wasn't put off by the idea at all. Asked me if Peggy would say yes.

[ He moves a little closer to get a better look — you never quite know, after all — and sighs at the confirmation, one hand moving up to wearily wipe the sweat off his forehead. ]

Such a waste...

[Now that's a family tree. Dorian rests his head on a hand as he smiles.] Would she?

It's a music box. [He holds it out to Combeferre. It is already playing a quiet tune.] Beautiful, isn't it?
depicted: (don't tell me what you've done)

I ruined this shirt.

[There's a flatness to his voice. As if daring Lyall to question whether that loss is really equal to the gain.]

I haven't been out to see it yet either, but I'm certainly curious--especially considering the damage it's done around here.

[He shrugs a little at her question] I'm hopeful? It's been a little frustrating not to be able to mess with the consoles, and I'm hoping to be able to tinker with something.
depicted: (this man said "It's gruesome)

[personal profile] depicted 2013-05-30 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you're from one of those worlds? [Dorian will never quite get used to that. It's weird and it always will be.] Yeah, we're more or less baseline humans all across the planet. And if there are aliens, they're very discrete.

[Technically, he's in the Whoniverse, so there are aliens. He just hasn't met them.]

[A thought occurs to her.]

What do you know about encryption or cryptography, that kind of thing?
dracobin: (pleased)

[He looks up immediately and, for the record, not at all guiltily, because he was certainly not planning to drag anything back to the apartment, at all.]

Oh, of course!

[It takes a moment to find an angle where sparks are not flying into his face every other second, but at last he manages to wedge his claws underneath the twisted hunk of metal and begin to lever it up.]

I have been looking at the network, but I have not found anyone who knows what all of this is, yet.
dracobin: (looking up)

[personal profile] dracobin 2013-05-30 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Combeferre! [Immediate brightening. Hallo yourself, science bro.]

You have not been injured, have you? Only there has been a great deal of chaos, these past few days, and I have not been able to get out of Fire Sector as of late.
philosophe: (intent)

[personal profile] philosophe 2013-05-30 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
It certainly is. [And the look in his eyes says he wants to take it apart to see how it works, welp.]
philosophe: (SUPERFERRE)

[personal profile] philosophe 2013-05-30 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
[And he's dodging a bit of a spark there, leaning to peer at the machine again.]

I have not, no; do not worry.
depicted: (do what you want)

[personal profile] depicted 2013-05-30 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
[He recognizes that look and gets maybe a little protective, his fingers closing around it.] We can look for another, if you like.

[But this one is music and new and Dorian is very protective of both. Sharing is one thing. Allowing it to be destroyed is another matter.]
littlecousin: (v2 isn't going to last a year txt it)

[personal profile] littlecousin 2013-05-30 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, we've got plenty of people who can lift it. It's just a matter of coordinating them all. Heck, Kara could probably do it on her own if she had to.

[Spoiler: Basically everyone Nita knows is either a superhero or a dysfunctional manchild.

Or both.]

Yeah, he's basically the last word in engineering where I'm from. Ask to see his armor sometime.

[Nita raises an eyebrow at Korra insulting her own looks, but she's not going to play the no-you're-pretty game. If Korra wants reassurance, she can ask for it.]

Hey, do you want to head up? I can breathe down here, but that's gotta be tiring for you.

[She gestures toward the hand Korra's using to bend the water away from herself.]
alphatar: (Consoling)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-05-30 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
There’re that many, huh? That’s a quite a lot of musc- Kara? [Korra’s eyes drift in thought for a moment.] I thought Kara was a scientist?

[Armor sounded pretty interesting, of course all she can think of is the either the older armor used in the Great War or the light armored suits of the police task force back home.] He sounds pretty cool to me. [Korra wasn’t fishing for compliments, she just doesn’t like to think other people might see her differently than how she sees herself. No issues there.]

Yes! [Maybe that was too fast, but Korra was definitely feeling herself starting to feel like she was pruning up from being underwater. That and she really wanted her other arm free. Using her feet to propel herself, Korra swam towards the surface.]
littlecousin: (how long 'til THIS atlantis blows up?)

[personal profile] littlecousin 2013-05-30 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[While Nita's always considerate of air-breathers' metabolic limitations underwater, sometimes she forgets not everyone's blessed with her family's stamina. She keeps pace with Korra easily, towing her giant piece of wreckage.]

So? I'm a college student, but I can still punch through plate steel.

[She's not bragging, just making conversation.]

[personal profile] urbanmagic 2013-05-30 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like to know more about it, actually. It's an interesting skill.

Hmm, no it's okay. I don't want to have you running up to get it for me, unless you had another plan in mind?
alphatar: (Unsure smile)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-05-30 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but- [The words “you’re older and she only has one year on me” die on her tongue and she quickly finds a substitute.] I just didn’t know. It never really came up I guess.

[Nita’s unhindered movements through the water was really something to behold, not even the best swimmers in the Southern Water Tribe would be able to even remotely compare. As she breaks the surface of the water Korra opens and closes her mouth a few times to pop the pressure in her ears.] Want a boost onto the big guy? [Pointing her thumb over her shoulder at the massive edge of Tu Vishan’s shell.]
alphatar: (Air garb interested)

[personal profile] alphatar 2013-05-30 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, really? [That actually catches her off guard.] A lot of the foreigners here can do things that are a lot more interesting than that. [Fly, lift buildings, change the properties of objects, breathe underwater, make green light objects with a ring, stick to walls… Yeah, bending didn’t seem that comparable as far as Korra was concerned.]

Oh no, it’s no sweat. [Stamping her foot caused the section of roof holding the canister to spew it forth and it clanked onto the sidewalk. Turning wrist inward forcing her hand in on itself that bit of sidewalk rose, separating from the rest, and sped toward them until it was at their feet.]
littlecousin: (little bastards are lucky i can fly)

[personal profile] littlecousin 2013-05-30 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nita's in her 30s, but looks (and acts--let's not kid ourselves) like she's just barely out of her teens. Atlantean lifespans!

She looks over at Korra and grins in that way people only smile when they're up to something.]

Hold on.

[Nita wraps an arm around Korra's waist and takes off, lifting them both smoothly out of the water until they're hovering about ten feet above the waves.]

The wings aren't just decorative.
