Situation: The fires are put out and repairs around the city have begun. With life preserved, eyes turn now to what exactly crashed down into the ocean.

The majority of fires are reported as under control and repair crews start forming up to bring Keeliai back to her pre-scorched splendour. This is all well and good, but there remains a cluster of debris that crashed into the ocean drawing the attention of salvagers and Foreigners alike. Boats and teams form up and head up to scour the ocean, where the cluster rests upon an expansive and ancient coral formation and can be reached within ten metres of the surface.

Really, Dorian. [There's a mildly reproving tone to his voice, though there's also a touch of amusement.]

Consuming human flesh is not considered socially acceptable, even if it is offered willingly. I have never knowingly eaten it.

[Dorian expected that (it would be odd for them to integrate with human society to the extent Lyall has described and still eat them) but he can't resist replying,] If someone says 'vegetarian vampires,' I'm leaving this Stephenie Meyer novel and not looking back.

[Lyall arches an eyebrow.] I have absolutely no idea what novel you might be referring to, you know. I'm not acquainted with Miss Meyer's work.

However, the idea of either a vampire or a werewolf being a vegetarian borders on the ridiculous.

It's a blessing that you don't. But I'm glad to hear it. [He smiles brightly at Lyall.] Need a hand with anything? I've just been looking around for interesting debris.

I wouldn't mind some company for dinner, if any could be found. I really do need a bite to eat. [One of the best strategies for controlling werewolf instincts is making sure that the beast is fed. Hunger is difficult to ignore and looking at people like they're prey isn't good for your worldview.] And then you could help me with my efforts. Two hands are better than one, I'm sure, and that way you won't end up under another building.

I'd be happy to accompany you to dinner. [That is complimented by one of his smiles.] As for the other half of it, I suppose, why not? Could be interesting.

Very well, then. [There don't seem to be any eating places open nearby, so walking back to his home it is.]

You should be more careful, my dear. Why not delay your explorations until the area's somewhat more stable?

[Dorian accompanies him, hands in his pockets.] I've nothing to fear but a ruined shirt, and I'm not really a fan of this one. Once the area is stable, I could be beaten to the treasure.

Yes, but then those engaged in the rescue efforts won't be distracted by having to free you if another wall lands on you. [He does not expect this argument to work, but it's just a point to think about.]

The treasure is quite interesting, though- I'd like to take a look at some of it. Have you found anything?

Then they can ignore me. [Nice try, though, Lyall.

Because this is way better than being lectured, Dorian pulls out the music box he found.] A few things, but the best of them is this.

Certainly a strange thing to fall from the sky. [He extends a hand.]

May I see it?

Yeah, of course. [He passes it over. And hey, the tune it will play is actually really nice?]

Very pretty- I'd love to get a look at the mechanism...

[But of course won't risk taking it apart unless Dorian gives him permission. It isn't his.]

[Dorian likes Lyall, but he doesn't like anyone enough to let them take apart a pretty musical device of his.]

In that building, in fact. Perhaps life really does work on a balance.

Well, you came to no permanent harm and gained something by it... though I suppose there was some inconvenience involved.
