Event | Satellite | Salvage & Repairs
Characters: Any and all!
Date: May 22 - 26, 2013
Location: Keeliai, turtleside, ARSHEPHELIOS cluster remains
Situation: The fires are put out and repairs around the city have begun. With life preserved, eyes turn now to what exactly crashed down into the ocean.
Warnings/Rating: Please put CW in your subject lines
Satellite Crash Event
Crash Landing | Salvage Party | Shocking Spectres
Questions | Keeliai | Repairs | Salvage | Other | Oceanside | Shellside | ARSHEPHELIOS-side | Coralside
The majority of fires are reported as under control and repair crews start forming up to bring Keeliai back to her pre-scorched splendour. This is all well and good, but there remains a cluster of debris that crashed into the ocean drawing the attention of salvagers and Foreigners alike. Boats and teams form up and head up to scour the ocean, where the cluster rests upon an expansive and ancient coral formation and can be reached within ten metres of the surface.

[Bare shell wouldn’t have been the spot she would have picked, but there was little she could argue with. After all, she it wasn’t her plan to begin with.]
Oh! Yeah, I’ve got my cart down there. [Scanning quickly for the spot where she dived off at the edge of the shell, Korra pointed towards the general location where her stone makeshift wagon was.] It’s got everything I’ve found so far. Sorry, I wasn’t expecting to be flying in the air today. [In fact there have zero days that she had.]

[Nita loops around, circling once before she spots the cart, and comes in for a soundless landing next to it.]

Okay, now I see why everyone is all about superheroes now. [All smiles after that fun jaunt, Korra turns her forearm up and pushes her arm outward so the top of the seamless cart open. Inside there is a stone divider between two piles of random satellite tech and she empties her armful into one of them.] Thanks Nita, I was kind of thinking today was going to be boring when I got up. [Especially after how hard she slept for all of three hours.]
You know any way to contact this Tony guy or is the network going to be good enough? [If he could appraise them for what they do she could sell them for a lot more. However, the fact that he owned an industry meant either his fees would be ridiculous or just an outright refusal.]
no subject
[Nita's paying more attention to the cart than Korra, looking at it with an evaluating eye as she figures out how she's going to carry it back to the city, because come on Korra that's like a six-hour walk.]
You can just ask for him on the network when we get back, or track down Pepper Potts. She's where he keeps his common sense. They have a business office in Metal.
[I think. Nita would get the Sector right.]
no subject
He puts pepper in pots? [The questions was flying out of her mouth before she heard the rest and Korra can only give a little:] oh.
[Dwelling on the odd name wasn’t something Korra had time for when she heard the next tidbit of information.] I live in the Metal Sector! I don’t know where everything is yet, but I’m getting the hang of it. [Of course not, Korra would have seen the office.]
So wait, you’re a college student. Does that mean you do school and have a job? [After all, Korra was told she’d need to work when she got here.]
no subject
I think "Pepper" is a nickname.
[The only reason she's not sure is 'cause surface-dwellers are weird.]
Oh, maybe I wasn't clear. I'm a college student back home. Here I mostly do heavy lifting.
[She flexes a bicep. While Nita does have a muscular build, it can't possibly account for how strong she really is.]
They don't have a lot of construction equipment, so having someone who can place girders by hand is useful. I used to babysit and help out my friend with her clothing shop, but Favrielle disappeared, and the kedan aren't willing to trust foreigners anymore, so...
[Nita trails off. She's pretty much perpetually cheerful, but those are not happy topics.]
no subject
Nice! So you must work out a lot. [If there is one thing Korra really does respect, it’s strength.] Yeah, I tried looking for work with the kedan first, but that didn’t pan out so well. [People disappearing wasn’t a Korra favorite either. Especially since finding out she had been on Tu Vishan once before. No, not happy topics at all.]
So how much do you charge for a flight to the Metal and is it extra for my luggage? [Have a mischievous grin.]
no subject
[Nita won the hell out of the genetic lottery.]
Yeah, I wasn't gonna make you walk back. I'm trying to figure out how to carry it without dumping you and your satellite bits all over.
[Nita's really only seen waterbending in action, so despite the fact she knows Korra's the Avatar and can thus (theoretically) control all four elements, it hasn't really occurred to her that Korra can reshape the cart to specifications.]
no subject
Walking isn't exactly it, but flying would be a lot faster. But give me a sec and I can fix that. [Rotating the shoulder of the arm that was holding her haul, Korra brought her hands together and as she did so the top edges of the cart formed together sealing the cart shut. Then she pushed her hands down steadily so the wheels of the cart crumbled, lowering the cart to the ground. Last she curled her fingers into her palms and either side of the cart shed stone so hand grips came to be.]
There, that looks more portable. [Making a slow, forcefuly fist with either hand popped some of her knuckles. Smiling she turned to Nita.] So how fast can you fly?
no subject
[She shrugs. Sometimes she works out because it's fun.]
All hydrated and with a load as light as the cart? About eighty.
[Eighty what, Nita? While her command of idiomatic English is basically indistinguishable from a native speaker's, sometimes she's too colloquial.]
no subject
[Yes, eighty?]
Eighty? Of these? [Thinking Nita mistook the word “fast” for “much”, Korra motioned to the cart with a raised eyebrow.] But like, what’s your flying speed like? Is it kind of like running?
no subject
Unless that thing weighs a literal ton, I can carry more than eighty of them. Eighty miles per hour.
[Absolutely nothing in comics is even close to reasonable or rational, but Nita thinks it's all entirely normal.]
