EVENT | LANDFALL | VALISHAERA

Characters: ALL!
Date: JULY 13-26
Location: Valishaera
Situation: Tu Vishan has made landfall on Siaxhi, to explore the Dreaming Watch City of Valishaera.
Warnings/Rating: Please indicate content warnings in subject headers as applicable.

As Tu Vishan draws near, the heavy jungle visible even from miles out quickly identifies the landmass as Siaxhi, one of the westernmost continents in Konryu and one that has been largely untouched insofar as the kedan themselves have gone. There is a natural inlet along the southeast shore on the continent and Tu Vishan makes for that, though he fills nearly all of it.

...hmm?

[The glow faded as her concentration broke, turning to find Kaldur standing nearby.]

Kind of, yeah. But it's the same as in Keelai--there's so much magic here, that it's almost impossible to tell where it's all coming from.

We are in a world between, perhaps finding the areas where the magic is weaker would be more telling. [Because as far as he can tell, magic of some kind is the core of these worlds.]

[It wasn't a terrible idea.]

I'm not so sure.

Do you remember the last time we came across the Dreaming Realm?
apologiesmyking: (049)

[personal profile] apologiesmyking 2014-07-25 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I remember. [They were not pleasant memories, which made them all the harder to forget.] There is something different here. In that world, it was our own memories that influenced the way the world shaped itself. Here, it is more...stable.

[She almost hated bringing it up, herself. While the Death Realm had been far, far worse, what made the Dream so horrible was the fact that people had to be torn away from their Great Desires. She felt like the worst person in the world "freeing" those who remained otherwise trapped within their own hearts.]

Exactly.

The only thing the weak spots before would tell us were where the exits are. How to escape. But we don't need to escape. We already know where we are.

[The look on his face is thoughtful because she is right that this area of Dreaming is by the most stable that they've encountered.]

Perhaps this world is more like the city inside of the bottle. Stable, but filled with power. Hopefully there are no dragons we are expected to battle here. [Or statues that alter people's personalities.]

...did you have to bring up the bottle? I've been trying to forget most of that week ever happened.

No matter how...unlikable that time was, if there is something to learn from it, we should keep our minds open to it.

[Dying was not a pleasant experience for him, but it happened. And that world was unique to what they had visited previously.] It still stands that it is the closest in stability to this world here.

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2014-07-25 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
I learned that I have a lot more self-restraint than I thought, for one.

[She wasn't joking.]

[Though, much as she was begrudged to admit it, he had a point.]

What do you think that means? Should we be on the lookout for any familiar statues around here too?
apologiesmyking: (061)

[personal profile] apologiesmyking 2014-07-25 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
I would hope not. The people here do not seem as similar to what we saw of the culture of that world. The similarities may be in how the stable portals are created. If a portal is stable, it may create a more world in which to be connected to. Or it is the stability of the points that they found that led to the ease of a stronger, reusable portal.

[The chicken or the egg, as he remembers Robin saying it once.]

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2014-07-25 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Or maybe it's a different part of the realm altogether.

[Which might explain the cultural differences, or why they were far more self-aware this time.]
apologiesmyking: (067)

[personal profile] apologiesmyking 2014-07-27 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
You are right. It does seem that the knowledge about the magic in this world differs from people to people. Even the kedan have shown a different understanding than what we have seen here.

[He steps to one of the mushrooms and places a hand on it.] You say that the magic is truly everywhere here? I wonder if the city would be less saturated than the natural environment.
backwordscompatible: (Hi there!)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2014-07-27 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[She wasn't quite as willing to reach out to the local flora quite yet. But when Kaldur touched it, and nothing seemed to happen, she decided to try gently poking one near her.]

Maybe. Maybe not.

Keelai is basically run off of Asti, right? So it depends on how much power he has.
apologiesmyking: (065)

[personal profile] apologiesmyking 2014-07-28 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but isn't Asti himself a being of this world? Land for living is created by the turtles that have been lost. Perhaps the question is whether or not his power and the magic that is infused with this world are the same or simply complementary.

[He sounds thoughtful and speaking to Zatanna while also speaking to himself.]
backwordscompatible: (Considering)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2014-07-31 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
If he really is a creature of this world, my guess would be the former.

[Although Kaldur did raise an interesting point.]
apologiesmyking: (067)

[personal profile] apologiesmyking 2014-07-31 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Then why is Keeliai itself not more like this world? [It is something he's been wondering for a few months now.]

There is so much difference in how the lands we visit involve themselves with the magic of this world, it is almost as if the magic differs in each region. We have no solid proof of it being the same in all places.
backwordscompatible: (Hanging out with Wolf)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2014-07-31 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Who says it's not?

I mean, obvious differences aside, think about it. Asti and the Turtles have gotten into our dreams before, right? What's to say that's not just some weaker form of the magic we're feeling here, now?
apologiesmyking: (097)

[personal profile] apologiesmyking 2014-07-31 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
You are correct, but considering there are enough differences for us to notice, should we be accepting that conclusion so readily? Working under the assumption it is all the same has not led us to a better explanation for how and why the magic of this world works so far.
backwordscompatible: (I know what this calls for....)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2014-07-31 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not assuming anything.

I'm playing devil's advocate. Except I'm actually kind of leaning towards it being true.
apologiesmyking: (046)

[personal profile] apologiesmyking 2014-08-01 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
I would say we all have been assuming it, unless this discussion is one that has been mentioned before that I was not aware of. [Which he isn't as vigilant as watching what is discussed over the network as he should be, so it's entirely possible.]

I agree it's the more probably answer, yes, but it feels like we've been stagnant recently, nothing we've found out has pushed us into any new discoveries about this world and how it works. Instead, all we gain are more questions.
backwordscompatible: (crockblocked)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2014-08-01 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Mmmmaybe not so much over the network, per say, but this certainly wasn't the first time the subject of kedan magic had come up for her.]

And you think figuring out what makes the magic of this world different from Asti's might help?
apologiesmyking: (036)

[personal profile] apologiesmyking 2014-08-02 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
With the power that our enemy has over technology, I do believe that the magic of this world will end up playing a great role in our victory. Something about the magic on Keeliai is different. We should learn as much as we can about it and whether that difference can work to our advantage.
backwordscompatible: (If I'm not grounded for life (again).)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2014-08-02 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[At the mention of possibly using it to their advantage, Zatanna...actually hesitated.]

I'm not sure that's a good idea, Kaldur. [She sounded unusually hesitant.] You remember what happened the last time kedan magic and I mixed, don't you?
apologiesmyking: (038)

[personal profile] apologiesmyking 2014-08-03 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[He does remember, and he remembers how people reacted due to it. His expression is understanding.]

We need to know so we can use their magic to protect their world, not our own. I share the same...reservations about mixing mystical forces of two different worlds, but that is why we must learn the magic of this world as much as we can.

And you really think that'll help?
