February Catch-All
Characters: Obi-Wan Kenobi and YOU!
Date: All of February
Location: Keeliai and Tavimbi
Situation: Getting to know you and Landfall!
Warnings/Rating: None that I can think of?
Obi-Wan is still somewhat adjusting to things here on Keeliai. So the fact that the giant turtle makes landfall on a continent is surprising and piques his curiosity.
He can be found either wandering around the streets of Keeliai or Tavimbi. Willing to talk to just about anybody. Especially the Kedan and the Tavimbi natives.
Upon sensing a power that is not unlike the Force within Tavimbi, which he comes to know as the Xunutane, he will make checking that out his highest priority.
Feel free to find him just about anywhere!

He shook his head and stepped away for a brief moment. So much confusion swirling around in his head. He needed time to think. For some reason Obi-Wan didn't particularly want to talk about it.
But maybe ... Maybe -
"You're right. We shouldn't speak out here. Who knows what could be listening. We need a place - somewhere private where we can discuss our next action."
Did Anakin really listen to anything Obi-Wan said? Yes, but he was going to still treat this like they were on a normal mission. Just another day like any other.

Nodding in understanding, Obi-Wan glanced down the street.
"I know a place. Come with me."
And with that, he would lead the way towards the Midnight Hotel.

"How long have you been here anyway?"
He said while following. After all, a few people told Anakin about Obi-Wan's existence so he must have been around long enough to make an impact.
no subject
"Nearly three weeks now."
Whether he's stranded here or on Tatooine it makes little difference. With the exception of not being able to watch over Luke. But then, from what he's gathered that won't make a difference anyway. Thus Obi-Wan has been in no hurry to get back.

He shook his head. Perhaps the slow realization of everything finally set in. If it is true, then he needed to know what happens. Well, depending on how far in the future Obi-Wan is from anyway.
Either way he's going to ask.
When they are safely inside somewhere anyway.

It's their reality now. And while Obi-Wan is still in a bit of shock to be walking and talking with Anakin again, he knows its real. And slowly the realization is creeping in that this... isn't a bad thing. This could be the second chance he never would have had back home.
As long as he doesn't blow it.
It doesn't take long for them to arrive at the hotel seeing as there's an entrance in very sector. Once inside, he leads Anakin to a room.

Anakin refused to really accept many things. The death of his mother. The terrible thing he did right afterwards. The fact that people die at all. Just simple little things.
He is very glad when they reach a room. Finally a place for him to relax and think. He doesn't get to do much of that anymore.
"By the way ... Have you seen anyone else? That we know I mean."
Padme is what he really wants to say, but he holds back, for now.

But Obi-Wan knew of his struggles, if not the direct source of them. And he knew it wasn't easy. He had no one he knew to turn to when he arrived, but he was glad to be here for Anakin.
"No, I'm afraid not. As far as I know, I was the first from our galaxy."
But then another important thought comes to mind as he seats himself within the room. Motioning for his friend to do the same.
"What were you doing before you arrived here?"
Its good to have a point of reference if he had to explain things.

"I uh," the words fumble as his focus comes back to the situation at hand. "We just returned to Coruscant after rescuing the Chancellor."
He then sat back to give Obi-Wan a look.
"And you contested the number of times I've come to your rescue," he quickly added.
no subject
"With good reason I might add. Cato Neimoidia still doesn't count."
And he will continue to insist this until his final breath if he must! Plus he was hoping to lighten the mood if only a little bit.

For a moment Anakin forgot about the possibility that Obi-Wan is from the future. For a moment he fell right back into line with how they are normally. The banter. The teasing. All easy things that make for a quick escape from the truth of reality.
no subject
Huff. Aren't you ever going to let him live that down, Anakin?
Obi-Wan found himself falling back into it too. Despite everything that had happened, this was the Anakin that he knew and loved. It brought him peace and comfort to be able to talk to his friend like this again,

Anakin could still picture the entire thing in his mind, plain as day. It brought a chuckle to his lips. A brief moment of serenity. Until the realization of everything Obi-Wan spoke of earlier set in.
"What did you mean when you said we couldn't leave? Are we stuck here forever?"
Because he couldn't deal with that. He couldn't deal with being away from Padme for that long. Just the idea tore a hole in his heart.
no subject
"Honestly."
But the sudden change in topic is a welcome one, she if a bit sobering. Lowering his hand he looks Anakin in the eye.
"No I don't believe so. It seems that people come and go. However, there are those that have been here for years."
no subject
"But what happens to home if we are gone that long? The Republic. The other Jedi. The Senate. Without us there to protect them anything could happen. We can't just sit back and let this happen. You and I, we'll find a way back and everything will go back to normal."
As normal as things can be. In the back of his mind he does remember that Obi-Wan stated he was from the future, but that seems like such a minute thing. Something that hardly matters.
no subject
"Oh yes, we can. Have patience, Anakin. Time as we know it stands still while we are here. Once we leave it will be as if we were never here."
Or at least that's the theory he's read about. Supposedly from accounts from other foreigners that have gone and come back.
no subject
By this time, Anakin gets up and just starts pacing back and forth. The idea of sitting back and being idle clashes with everything he believes in. Besides, there's always a chance that Obi-Wan is wrong.
And if he is ...
Anakin's mind fills with all the terrible possibilities. Things he can't let happen.
no subject
Darn that truth virus. Obi-Wan watches as Anakin paces. He knows quite well what his friend is likely upset about.
"Please calm yourself, Anakin. No one has found a way to get back on their own. Getting upset is not going to help our situation. We're out of our element here. I don't think we're even in our own galaxy. I've been trying to learn as much as I can about this planet, and I suggest you do the same. Eventually we may find a way."
no subject
He does stop his moving, but only for a brief moment to look at Obi-Wan. Then he starts back up ending up over at a table where he starts messing with a few things on it. Just picking at stuff.
"I'm sorry, but I can't just sit here. I need to do something. Anything. Waiting cost me my mother and that can't happen again," he says and then turns to stare Obi-Wan directly in the eyes. "Can you at least try to understand?"
no subject
"I do understand. More than you know."
His voice is quiet, and solemn. He had good reason not to be in a hurry to get back. Though he knew Anakin wouldn't understand that. Just as his friend didn't want to lose Padme, Obi-Wan didn't want to lose him. Though he knew it was inevitable. It had already happened from the point he had come from. The only thing he could do was hopefully prevent it here.
no subject
In a single motion, he knocked something off the table. He didn't know or care what. He just felt like breaking something. Tearing it into little pieces.
"I wonder," he continues with a heavy breath, "I wonder if everyone would have believed me if I saw a Jedi in my dreams. Do you think? Mace Windu or Master Yoda even. I'm sure the council would do everything in their power for one of us."
He knew very well that he's blowing up at Obi-Wan who is normally someone he wouldn't speak of all of this. But he had no outlet at the moment and he felt backed into the corner by being stuck in world. No way out. No escape. His emotions built up until they just flooded out, but that wasn't even everything.
Just a tiny scrap of the mind belonging to Anakin Skywalker.
no subject
"Did you even tell anyone about these dreams, Anakin? Were you planning to tell me? You know that attachments are forbidden in the Order."
He knew the answer to those questions already, but was hoping it would make Anakin stop and think for a moment.
"Perhaps its time for total honesty between us. What did you do, Anakin? What do you mean you couldn't save her?"
no subject
He finally returned to his seat slumping down defeatedly. Does he tell him? Divulge his deepest secrets. His internal conflict clashed almost as much as the raging storm that makes up his outward feelings. He said too much already. But then again, it was all in the past.
"My mother, she --" his voice broke with a heavy sigh, it was difficult to think of this again. "The sand people, they took her prisoner. Captured and tortured her. I found their camp, but it was too late. She'd been through too much. Her body suffered too much pain. They destroyed her, Obi-Wan. And she died in my arms."
Of course there is more to this story, but he doesn't open up about that quite yet. Instead he goes another route.
"If only I could have gone back to Tatooine when my dreams first occurred. I could have stopped it. I could have saved her. But I didn't. I failed her. And then I failed you."
no subject
However, as Anakin does divulge some details, Obi-Wan goes quiet for a moment. Looking upon his former apprentice with sorrow and pity.
"I'm so sorry, Anakin." His words are sincere and heartfelt. He hadn't known that he'd struggled with this. While he had never met Shmi personally, he knew that Anakin felt strongly about his mother. Something Obi-Wan couldn't entirely relate with since he'd never really known his own mother.
"Perhaps, perhaps not. No matter what happens, we have to believe it was the will of the Force. Focusing on what could have happened will only bring you more torment, and potentially lead you down a dark path."
Obi-Wan sighed quietly, hoping this his friend would see the truth in his words and find comfort.
"I wish you had told me this sooner. I do want to help you."
no subject
Obi-Wan would never trust him if he told him what happened after. But did he ever to begin with? The older Jedi stood like a tall beacon. The perfect example of a Jedi, he heard others say. Anakin knew him to be wise, and skillful. There was no one else he'd rather have at his side in battle.
But he didn't truly trust him. No one did. Were they afraid of his power? Anakin isn't sure, but he knows it's something. He feels it in the way some people look at him.
And sitting here now, with the raw emotion rippling between them, he didn't see any difference. Obi-Wan wanted honesty, but he wouldn't want to hear this next part.
"You don't know what I did," finally coming to the conclusion that he'll confess this one thing and see what happens. "I killed them, Master. I killed them all. The entire village. I slaughtered them like they were nothing. Small pieces of trash easily brushed aside. I went through the entire village and I murdered them all."
