Situation: Tu Vishan begins to dive to the ocean floor and the city of Keeliai seems unbothered by the process. Bonfire funtimes are made available to all!

Apparently the turtle's primary foodsource is some sort of substance that only exists on the ocean floor. It generally spends about a week at a time down here, and then resurfaces.

[He shrugs.]

They tend to spend the week indoors keeping warm, to my understanding. I think we'd be wise to do the same.

[Dick tries not to look too amused. Yeah like they'll be inside any time they don't have to be.]

I can't believe something this gigantic only eats once every 2 1/3 years. Then again, it's a giant magic turtle with an entire city on its back. Nice of it to keep the barrier up, though. I thought it was to keep us from leaving, but maybe it's meant to protect us. It just helps the Emperor by not letting us escape.

[Oh come on, Dick, you don't want to curl up and watch movies with the rest of the Bats? What's wrong with you, gosh?]

Then what about landfall?

[Given that the barrier was still up in a semi-spherical manner, allowing people onto the mainland itself but not past the turtle out into the ocean.

Of course, Bruce has roughly eighteen theories, but he can't exactly admit to them in public.

[All this talk of 'cops' around Dick is making his heart hurt in a way he didn't quite anticipate.]

[It takes a second to click, but he remembers that the other Dick had been a cop. And that Bruce probably missed him a lot.]

[He decides to keep it light. He shrugs.]

I have awhile, so I don't mind playing good cop to your bad cop until I'm a big, scary socialite myself.

[He rolls his eyes a little, though he is... grateful that Dick chose not to comment on the association.]

[Mock dramatically:] Don't be too disappointed, but that doesn't exactly break my heart. I have no idea how you can stand listening to people talking stock and sharing hunting stories. Bor-ing.

Though growing out of having my hair ruffled is something I'm definitely looking forward to.

[TINIEST SHRUG OF NO FUCKS GIVEN Bruce would never actually encourage someone to cheat on their spouse with him except Bekka but she had crazy sex pheromones but the 'playboy' image has served him well enough in the past that there's no point retiring it.]

[Dick bursts out laughing, though luckily no one is staring.

He knows full well Bruce is kidding (even if "playboy Bruce Wayne" isn't).]

[Once his laughter is under control, his smile turns a little warmer.]

I guess I'll just have to give you a pass when it comes to hair-ruffling.

[cowled]

Hm. Somehow I don't think you could stop me either way.

[Dick makes him feel young enough to joke around. It's-- a strange feeling.]

That sounds suspiciously like a challenge.

[Meanwhile, this banter is totally normal for Dick. You know, when no one else is around and Serious Business is not afoot.]

I can't imagine why you'd think that way.

[Said with just the right amount of neutrality so that people wouldn't assume the opposite.

[Seriously. Dick's left more remarkably not-broken-hearted women in his wake than even Bruce at his finest. He's never quite worked out how he manages to stay friends with all of them.]
