[She pulls the blanket up a bit higher and then looks over to the woman. She can't recall if they've met before, and so after a moment she just inclines her head.]
I'm Favrielle.
no subject
[CT glances around briefly - yeah, she supposes it is kind of cozy, with everyone drawn to the light of the fire this way. Favrielle gets a glance back a moment later, though, a little uncertain.]
...Oh.
Uh. CT.
no subject
It's nice to meet you. Even at the masquerade I didn't have a chance to meet everyone...
[Favrielle tucks her hands under the blanket as she watches the foreigners and kedan alike.]
Have you been here in Keeliai long?
no subject
[She adjusts her own hands on her mug of cider, taking a sip.]
A few months. Well...more than a few.
no subject
[She looks at the mug of cider in CT's hands, and glances over toward the small stand where the cider is being served. Really she should be getting in line to get one herself, but it just so happens that she knows the woman at the booth, one of those involved with prepping for the masquerade. Favrielle signals with a single finger and a smile, and when it's acknowledged, turns back to CT.]
For as long as we've been here it's still difficult to get used to the city. Likely for these unexpected changes, I'd imagine.
no subject
[CT watches with quiet interest as Favrielle signals the woman at the booth for the cider. Maybe she should have offered to share her own, but...well, she hadn't thought of it, and she shifts slightly in embarrasment, turning the mug in her hands.]
It's hard to get used to it when it keeps changing.
[She remembers the plate of cookies and finger food she'd put together earlier, suddenly, and turns to pick it up, offering it to Favrielle.]
...Do you want any?
no subject
She nods to CT, in acknowledgment, that it is difficult when things keep changing.]
It seems just as we get used to something, circumstances alter once more--
[The cider is delivered then, and Favrielle thanks the kedan with a smile and a juulan before turning back to look at the plate of finger food.]
Are you certain you don't mind?
no subject
[She offers the plate again, not insistent enough to be demanding, but without any hesitation.]
Here.
no subject
[She'll gladly take some. Favrielle glances over the options before picking a couple items, one which goes into her mouth and the other that stays in a free hand.]
Thank you, it's quite good. Nothing like they have where I'm from.
no subject
[She takes a cookie herself, and turns to look at Favrielle, curious.]
What kind of food do they have there?
no subject
[She tastes the other cookie in her hand before continuing.]
I've a great fondness for pear tarts, and have yet to find one here.
no subject
[That sounds fancier than anything CT's ever eaten in her life. She's used to military food and MREs.
She glances down at the plate between them, frowning slightly at the food.]
Could you make your own?
no subject
I suppose I could try, with the proper ingredients. I'm hardly a genius in the kitchen but I manage well enough.
[Cooking is somewhat easier for her than baking, but perhaps...]
Are fruit tarts more to your liking?
no subject
I don't know if I've ever had one.
no subject
If I find the means to make some I'll have to have you over to try one then. If you'd like that, of course.
no subject
[CT looks just as shocked. Favrielle doesn't even know her, and she's inviting her over for homemade food? She shrugs her shoulders, but can't help smiling a little.]
I - if you want.
no subject
Of course. Such things aren't meant to be selfishly hoarded and you're missing out if you've never had one.
no subject
[It's fair warning, after all - she doesn't want Favrielle going to a lot of trouble for her, or maybe getting her feelings hurt if CT isn't a fan of the tarts. Still, she recognizes the gesture for what it is, and gives Favrielle a small nod and another shrug.]
But if you're making them anyway...
no subject
It's no trouble. If you don't, someone else will I'm certain. There are people enough who come by my suite for appointments or to share meals.
no subject
[She tilts her head, curious and suddenly a little bit wary. The only people she can think of who have appointments at their homes are therapists, and she's not in the mood to be psychoanalyzed.]
Are you a...doctor?
no subject
Oh, no, definitely not. I'm a clothier. In some places they might call me a seamstress or designer.
[She shrugs lightly.]
If ever anyone has a need of something custom made or in a non-local style, there's no one in this city better suited to handle it.
no subject
[Better than a psychologist, anyway, even if sewing has never been something CT herself has been particularly interested in.
She hadn't paid much attention to the formalities and mock court at the ball
other than Mandorallen, so while Favrielle's face is familiar, she hadn't quite made the connection. Now she does, though, pursing her lips in thought.]Did you make all those dresses for the dance?
no subject
If I didn't make them myself, then I certainly designed them for others to make. So many garments would have been impossible to complete on my own, even with the sewing machines they have here.
no subject
[CT's dress had not been designed by Favrielle - she hadn't known there was anyone to ask, and probably wouldn't have ever approached her even if she had.
Still, she thinks back on the dresses she'd admired at the ball, how everyone had looked like princesses. She may not act like it very often, but she's still a girl at heart, and she gives Favrielle a small, genuine smile of admiration.]
They were really pretty. The dresses.
no subject
You'd be welcome to make an appointment with me for one of your own, if you like. There might be another occasion for it in the future, or something more casual and every-day if you prefer.
