EVENT | LANDFALL | KITHIKA | BOTTLE
Characters: ALL!
Date: February 12th - 28th
Location: Kithika, inside the bottle
Situation: The discovery of an artifact from the first war against Malicant reveals the land of Kithika within a dimension of the Death Plane... and just happens to be contained inside a bottle.
Warnings/Rating: Please indicate content warnings in subject headers as applicable.
OOC INFORMATION ♦ CITY OF KEELIAI ♦ INSIDE THE BOTTLE ♦ THE WORLD EATER
Arriving in Kithika is unpleasant for the most part. Transport through the glass vessel deposits you in the middle of a thick and murky swamp, with air so hot and humid it feels as though one is breathing through a wet towel. This is a place of perpetual night and there are no celestial bodies visible overhead through the twisted vines to break up the blackness, making the only light visible that which comes clumps of marsh fungus that emit a steady glow in a variety of muted colours: pale blue, whitish green, watery mauve. The only other light comes from those who can generate it themselves and that will reveal numerous broad-leaved trees, in some places standing too thick to move through. Below, knee-deep water laps in swirls at their legs, accompanied by the occasional slithery feel of something moving in the bracken against wet limbs, gone before it can be identified. A variety of strange noises from creatures of the swamp fill the air with buzzing and hoarse croaking, interrupted by the screech of mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds darting past and hungry for a meal.
---
OOC NOTE: Characters will not be able to progress past the Temple and the Grounds for 48 IC hours after which point, the way to continue onward to find the dragon will be discovered. The second log will be posted on the 17th, to help spread out the tagging. Thank you!

He glided to the ground and let himself drop to the ground, just missing the swamp water. It looked like he would be grounded with everyone else. "Is anyone else seriously regretting their life choices yet?" He really hoped he wasn't the only one.

Nearby, someone big and green was caught in the branches just like Miles, but he had the advantage of claws to cut himself out. Or disadvantage, judging by the awful screaming noise that followed.
From up in the trees, Miles raised his hand. "Uh, yeah, me too."
no subject
He made it to his feet just in time to avoid one of the branches swooping down towards him. "Glad I'm not the only one. What do you think is the deal with these trees?" Another shriek pierces through the air, but this time it was from a distance, not caused by Teddy. "Maybe their plan is to give us all such huge migraines that we just give us."
Sorry so late!

He turned and began moving in the direction he was going earlier. He didn't get very far before his way was blocked by some low-hanging branches. Frustrated, he leaped over one, then laid into the other one with a venom blast, which, unfortunately, made the thing scream again, but fortunately, got it out of his way.

"So. You do this sort of thing often?" Wow, Miles. What a great conversation starter. Not. "I mean, not the whole 'swamp-inside-a-magic-bottle' thing, but the hero thing."
no subject
"H-Help," he managed to croak. All that could be seen in the direction of the voice was a yellow, finger-less gloved arm. By that point the rest of him had sunk into the swamp water.
no subject
"I'll be back for you!" He shouted over his shoulder at the branch before diving into the water and swimming towards the arm sticking out above water. Teddy took a deep breath and dove under, wrapping a large and green arm around Mark's waist before pulling them both to the surface. "You really need to work on your landings, man."
no subject
"I swear to god I'm not normally like this." Mark winced. Something didn't feel right. He reached up to touch the lobe of his ear. Upon examining his hand afterward, he found blood. Great, it ruptured my eardrum.
no subject
"Good to know." His breathing sped up the longer they went, making conversation strenuous. But when he noticed the blood he couldn't help but react with concern. "Are you alright?"
no subject
"I'm fine." And almost to prove it, he wipes his hand off on his costume. Yup, that makes it all better. "The shrieking was unexpected."
no subject
"Can you still hear okay out of that ear?"
no subject
Mark gives Teddy his best look of confusion. "What?" Then after a second, he smirks. "Just kidding. I can hear fine. My inner ear is just a little oversensitive because of my powers."
no subject
"Jerk." He grinned and shook his head. "Well, that will make getting you through a little difficult. And very uncomfortable. Unless...you think you could get through without having to cut through the trees."
(no subject)

"I'd web myself up some nice earmuffs, but then I wouldn't be able to hear anything."
no subject
"At this point I don't think you would miss much if you couldn't hear for a little while."
no subject
"I don't know about that, considering what sort of nasty surprises could be waiting. I don't want to be oblivious to someone needing help."
What sort of hero would she be if she couldn't help because she didn't hear anything? Besides one preserving their hearing for the future.
no subject
"Let's just hope our hearing isn't permanently after all of this is over."
no subject
"How's your luck going with getting through all this?" She waves at the surrounding swamp.
no subject
"What about you? You seem to be doing okay."
no subject
She flexes her shoulders into a shrug. "For the most part I just keep heading towards the screaming trees when they're close by."
