Situation: The discovery of an artifact from the first war against Malicant reveals the land of Kithika within a dimension of the Death Plane... and just happens to be contained inside a bottle.

Arriving in Kithika is unpleasant for the most part. Transport through the glass vessel deposits you in the middle of a thick and murky swamp, with air so hot and humid it feels as though one is breathing through a wet towel. This is a place of perpetual night and there are no celestial bodies visible overhead through the twisted vines to break up the blackness, making the only light visible that which comes clumps of marsh fungus that emit a steady glow in a variety of muted colours: pale blue, whitish green, watery mauve. The only other light comes from those who can generate it themselves and that will reveal numerous broad-leaved trees, in some places standing too thick to move through. Below, knee-deep water laps in swirls at their legs, accompanied by the occasional slithery feel of something moving in the bracken against wet limbs, gone before it can be identified. A variety of strange noises from creatures of the swamp fill the air with buzzing and hoarse croaking, interrupted by the screech of mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds darting past and hungry for a meal.

OOC NOTE: Characters will not be able to progress past the Temple and the Grounds for 48 IC hours after which point, the way to continue onward to find the dragon will be discovered. The second log will be posted on the 17th, to help spread out the tagging. Thank you!

The blonde man is right, and Jim's aware of that- but it's not that he wasn't conscious about the fact that the screeching trees would draw attention to them. He had simply considered that drawing whoever they had to battle into the open would make things easier. He's a good field technician because he's good at shaking things up, seeing where things stand- unlike Steve, who'd always been good at considering things from all possible angles first.

But he doesn't feel like arguing about that right now, mostly because he still the man's point. So:

"I'm Jim." Is all he answers, head still tilted to his side. "And I'm afraid if what we were told before we were brought here is any indication, we'll be finding much bigger things than these mosquitoes.

And they don't like my artificial skin much anyway."

Honestly, Arthur wouldn't mind the thought of drawing things more into the open either, if the screaming of the trees wasn't throwing off his hearing. Sensitive ears can be a problem sometimes, and his other senses on land depend in part on his hearing.

"Arthur," he replies, glancing out across the swamp. "No doubt we will, but the bulk of those here won't be able to fight very efficiently in the swamp."

"Shouldn't be taking advantage of that then?" Because while it had only been a vague idea at first, having another man confirm it makes the idea grow. "If we attract whatever we're supposed to fight here it will be easier for us to deal with it."

"Easier for people like me, more difficult for people with less aquatic abilities. And whatever we attract in the swamp is most likely adapted to the swamp. Best to get through this quietly and try to find some dry ground for the rest of the foreigners to fight on."

He nods, because that's a very good point. The man must also be experienced when it comes to battles.

"We'll need to get through this swamp either way. May I ask the kind of aquatic abilities you possess?"

"I'm Atlantean." The former King of Atlantis, but there's no real reason to bring that up since diplomacy really has nothing to do with stumbling around in a swamp. "And I can communicate with sealife. Not that there's much of it around here, or maybe I'd have some better ideas about getting through here with my eardrums intact."

"Atlantean." Somehow, that makes Jim laugh.

"I do not know many Atlanteans, at least not up-close. But the one I would call my friend would actually be the first one to try to fly though it and punch everything to get his way."

The laugh makes him raise an eyebrow, standing a little straighter. Is this funny to you Jim? Is his heritage funny to you? Is he gonna have to fight you?

"I'm assuming you aren't familiar with the same Atlantis, because I don't know any Atlanteans who can fly."

That only makes Arthur look all the more like Namor. If he didn't want Jim to laugh he should really stop making finding the similarities so easy.

"No, they don't in the Atlantis in my world either. My friend and his cousin are a bit..." he hesitates. "Unique? They are mutants, and that gave them wings in their ankles that allows them to fly.."

He doesn't even know Namor! Honestly he's a little baffled by Jim's reaction, but at least they're not fighting, so that's a good thing, he guesses.

"Cousin? Ah, Princess Namorita and her cousin, you mean? I've met Nita and heard a bit about her Atlantis."
