OOC INFORMATIONCITY OF KEELIAIINSIDE THE BOTTLETHE WORLD EATER

Arriving in Kithika is unpleasant for the most part. Transport through the glass vessel deposits you in the middle of a thick and murky swamp, with air so hot and humid it feels as though one is breathing through a wet towel. This is a place of perpetual night and there are no celestial bodies visible overhead through the twisted vines to break up the blackness, making the only light visible that which comes clumps of marsh fungus that emit a steady glow in a variety of muted colours: pale blue, whitish green, watery mauve. The only other light comes from those who can generate it themselves and that will reveal numerous broad-leaved trees, in some places standing too thick to move through. Below, knee-deep water laps in swirls at their legs, accompanied by the occasional slithery feel of something moving in the bracken against wet limbs, gone before it can be identified. A variety of strange noises from creatures of the swamp fill the air with buzzing and hoarse croaking, interrupted by the screech of mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds darting past and hungry for a meal.

OOC NOTE: Characters will not be able to progress past the Temple and the Grounds for 48 IC hours after which point, the way to continue onward to find the dragon will be discovered. The second log will be posted on the 17th, to help spread out the tagging. Thank you!

"Then maybe you should of stayed back on the Turtle," he rumbles tauntingly, shifting his weight on the branch to loudly rustle the leaves above her. Maybe it's not exactly a nice thing to say, but tact never has been his strongest attribute.

Raph's never really understood people who don't like to fight, even if his own brother was one. Fighting is just so much of what he lives and breathes and loves that he can't wrap his head around not wanting that adrenaline rush and the feel of flesh pounding against flesh. The burst of pride and confidence when you've completely crushed your enemy.

But he does feel bad for this girl. She's scared and pretty obviously out of place. Maybe he'll find a way of helping her out, though the odds are pretty severely stacked against their favor.

"There's more to be done about things than swinging a sword. And I can swing a mace. And use a gun. If I must. But generally not on silly things like trees," Clara snaps back hotly. She isn't a fighter but that doesn't mean she won't fight if she has to. "I've already tried to burn them but all they did was scream. I think we're supposed to just walk. Think of it a lesson about when force doesn't work.]

"Yeah, I don't think it's the trees we gotta worry about," he says, his voice much more docile than before. Girl's got spunk, he'll give her that. It definitely makes him respect her a little more. Though the whole preaching of patience over force evokes the same reaction it always does. It's a lecture he's heard a million times from his father and from a good handful of other people, too. He's usually just too bullheaded to take it to heart.

"There's some kind of temple up ahead if you keep followin' the rise," he tells her. "'bout three miles." That's where a lot of the humans ended up, while he and his brothers decided to stay in the swamp and avoid the overwhelming crowds, come back later when things quieted down or something changed. He and Leo would rather take on screaming trees and glowing mushrooms any day.

"Oh yeah? They seem pretty worrisome for being trees. So what is it that we have to worry about?" She wonders if he's seen something up there or he's just messing with her.

When he mentioned the temple, she steps forward a little in the direction he indicates as if that will suddenly allow her to see the goal. "Suppose that's where we ought to be then."

He hasn't seen anything but swamp and that temple through the trees. But years of experience tells him what they really have to worry about is never this obvious. And he's pretty sure he wasn't sent here to play some kind of exorcist lumberjack.

"Yeah, maybe." That's what everyone else seems to think, anyway. Even Leo. But for some reason, it's left a bad taste in his mouth. He doesn't like the crowds, he doesn't trust the people, but maybe after some waiting and watching at the swamp's edge, they'll figure out what this place really has in store for them.

Shifting uneasily on his branch, Raph's off looking in that direction, too. And all around them, the swamp is alive with voices echoing through the trees, the eerie sounds of weird night birds and the buzz of insects. Screams continue to howl like sirens in the night. "I dunno about you, but I don't like it when places try to tell you to go someplace. Feels too much like a trap to me."

Is he paranoid? Absolutely. He's been taught since birth that paranoia isn't something to take lightly. It's up to her to decide whether she wants to listen to him or not.
